alcohol

Avatar n tn , diet cola), does it make a difference what liquor I drink (vodka, scotch, rum, scotch, etc.)? A bartender I know says that drinking vodka is better than scotch or rum because of their sugar content. But I know that none of those liquors have any carbohydrates, so I'm confused. Can anyone help?
Avatar n tn hello, you say vodka is high in tyramine. research says vodka is very low almost zero. many kind regards.
Avatar f tn Hi! My name is Marina and I'm 21 years old. I have never drink a lot of alcohol but I've tried many alcoholic drinks. What I notice is that it seems to me I have vodka and tequila intolerance. I can drink whiskey for example 100 - 200 ml and I don't get drunk or sick but whenever I drink vodka or tequila (I mean like 50 ml) I still don't get drunk but I get trembling sick with nausea. I have to throw up everything in my stomach.I have tachycardia and breathing difficulty..
Avatar m tn I REALLY like the message OpenMind24hours gave You. I agree with Her description of an "allergy to alcohol" but I would take that a step further and say the reason We are "allergic" to alcohol is because alcohol is a poison to our bodies. EVERYONE who drinks enough to get drunk will have Their body react - Our bodies are sending us a 'message' - "this is not good for my ENTIRE system".....
Avatar f tn Your solution will not resolve His issues with alcohol. If His vodka is watered down, He will simply drink MORE watered-down alcohol to get His "fix". Alcohol IS a drug (ethanol) and the body becomes dependent (addicted) on the substance. Recovery of addiction is possible (of course) but the addict has to (must) CHOOSE recovery. There is nothing You can do until, unless, when, or if, He admits to HimSelf that He is an alcoholic and takes His own step(s) to seek recovery.
Avatar f tn most things you cook with alcohol or use alcohol to enhance the flavor like wine in gravy or beer in a stew or vodka in vodka sauce you cook out the alcohol at a certain temperature. i avoided my mother in-laws rum cake forever because i had the same thought. but was told it isnt an issue.
Avatar m tn If this is the first time that you had a vodka tonic drink and same thing happened the second time you had it, the symptoms that you experienced may be a reaction to the alcohol. Alcohol allergy and a variety of alcohol reactions including flushing, nausea, and discomfort are important considerations. Try to avoid the trigger/ vodka tonic and have this checked by your doctor also if it persists. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I unfortunately drank too much on Saturday night. I was mixing alcohols, drinking from other people's cups, smoking joints/blunts. There was also a bowl with vodka soaked gummy worms, where the leftover vodka was poured into a cup that I ended up drinking from. I remember throwing up two times. I didn;t see if there was any blood in my vomitting, but it did look a little reddish. Some of the gummy worms were red, and I was also munching on carrots and tomatoes.
Avatar n tn it can cause all of the symptoms you describe. How much alcohol are we talking about anyway? How much do you drink on a daily basis and how long have you been doing it? Did your problems start after a particularly heavy night?
Avatar m tn Alcohol can make someone get behind the wheel of a car and go out and kill innocent people. I don't need alcohol and drugs to make my life unmanageable. Alcohol is only a symptom of my disease of addiction. I need to treat the entire disease.
Avatar m tn Is this a symptom of alcohol withdrawal? Had an episode of binge drinking, so a few shots of vodka every night for a couple days. Disappears when I take a nap and wake up, but is usually there while I few shots in so I figured it was maybe an allergic.reaction of some sort. I also read it may be tinnitus but wasn't sure if it was related since I don't have it when I am sober.
Avatar m tn Alcohol potentiates alprazolam. However, the drug is short-acting, the dosage is very small, and you would not be taking it at the same time as alcohol, but half a day later. It does not sound dangerous but you should double-check with your pharmacist before you have anything to drink.
8924846 tn?1410572901 So I opened one of those tiny bottles of Pepsi, an took a drink and it tastes like there's vodka in it? I was never a big drinker before, and I live with my grandma who doesn't drink at all. I'm almost 28 weeks. Has anyone else had this happen? It was completely new, never opened so there's no way anyone put alcohol In it.
2932946 tn?1344722012 I have stopped all social drinking since this but a couple of years ago before I knew I had Chiari , every time I would drink alcohol, mainly vodka i would get this intense neck and upper back pain. my best friend would have to rub my neck and shoulders for half an hour or more because it was UN bearable. My doctor at the time had no explaination just told me to stop drinking.
Avatar n tn So if my blood sugar was a little high, would it be alright to drink some alcohol? Also, is it alright to drink alcohol? if so what kinds? is beer better? Whats the most one with diabetes can drink in a certain period? is drinking with diabetes the same as drinking with diabetes(effect of drinking)? ummm....
Avatar m tn You are sweating because with each and every drink, Your liver is trying to metabolize the alcohol. It would behoove You to realize You are over taxing Your liver (whether there is PRESENT damage or not) Tolerance to alcohol is progressive (and so are the dangers), as evidenced by Your own usage over the past 10 years. AND Your body does not recognize the difference between wine and vodka - it just 'knows' alcohol and reacts - 12oz of beer, 5oz of wine, 1.
Avatar n tn I found out by the time I was 2 or 3 weeks pregnant though, and immediately stopped alcohol and caffeine etc. No indication of any problems at 29 weeks now. I think its quite common for moms to have drank some at first before finding out. As long as you stop as soon as you find out you should be OK.
Avatar m tn One night my girlfirend was stressed and had a glass of vodka, I noticed she was crying outside so I wanted to give her some alone time. Next thing I noticed was she was lying on the ground and was complaining about chest pain (upper abdominal), she was totally conscious; however, she was jumpy, she said it was just from pain. When I called the ER the nurse had asked if she had a history of seizures, which she doesn't.
Avatar m tn hi. you should be clear of any withdrawal effects.
Avatar m tn Nope, not really an addiction to Vodka... she prefers rum actually, lol... but its just she says an allergy to it. I think the fact that they were in the form of Jello Shooters that she was a little luckier that way and it wasn't STRAIGHT vodka going into her system that she wasn't hospitalized form it. Thanks for the post, will await further posts as well.
Avatar f tn This was last night? How many hours ago? And when you say 40% vodka, that's what vodka usually is. HOW much did you drink is the biggest question. A sip? A shot glass full? A bottle? You say large amount, what is that? And were you wasted drunk? I think the best way to counter stomach issues from alcohol is to not drink alcohol. I doubt you did permanent damage with a once go round with hard liquor but don't make it a habit.
279234 tn?1363105249 I noticed last year, when my symptoms went into full gear, that if I had a little alcohol my symptoms would be 10x worse the next day. I was wondering if this was a common problem with MS and other neurological problems. If I'm not suffering from symptoms, it has little to no effect, but if I am having symptoms, I'm pretty much asking people if they got the licence of the car that hit me.
