Avatar n tn , diet cola), does it make a difference what liquor I drink (vodka, scotch, rum, scotch, etc.)? A bartender I know says that drinking vodka is better than scotch or rum because of their sugar content. But I know that none of those liquors have any carbohydrates, so I'm confused. Can anyone help?
Avatar m tn 30ml is equal to 1.01 ounces or 3/4 of a shot glass. Uh does this only occur when drinking Scotch Whiskey or when drinking all kinds of Whiskey? Sounds to me like a sensitivity to whiskey alcohols all together.I could see your reaction to Scotch if it was like 6 or 8 ounces of Liquor but one shot glass is something else. Personal suggestion is find something other than scotch to drink , or better yet don't drink alcohol at all.
Avatar m tn t get it from alcohol. Perhaps bad lifestyle choices can be made under the influence of alcohol, but the alcohol itself is not the culprit. Mos become infected thru IVD use, transfusions, medical procedures etc. I have read though there is a higher incidence among alcoholics. Probably due to the fact that alcohol increases the replication and decrease your immunity therefore not allowing the body to rid itself of the disease.
Avatar m tn On that day, I had a drink of probably 300ml of King Robert 2 scotch whisky with alcohol content of 43%. I smoked 5 sticks of Marlboro as well. I am a very occasional drinker and a very occasional smoker as well. I have not smoked more than 20 sticks of cigarettes in my whole life. I drink about 4 times a year. After drinking that day, i had a 1hour sleep and went out with friends. Then on the 3march, i had a 6hours sleep and went out again. On 4march, i had 6hours sleep and went out again.
Avatar n tn Sometimes more, sometimes less. I usually drink Chardonay, but will turn to scotch occasionally. In a night of drinking I will have about two bottles of wine. If it's scoth I could easily polish off a half pint or pint. Recently, I have started to have a dry mouth and my lips crack/chap and split at the corners. My bottum lip close to the corners is looking dark and not like the normal pink. Sometimes when working out I get a heat rash.
Avatar n tn So you "used to drink heavily about a year ago"? I would say your saturday would qualify as beyond "heavy". If you're still drinking at these volumes, it's no wonder your doctor is concerned about your liver. You didn't ask a question on your post, but you should difinitely stop drinking NOW. If you're still young (you say you're underage), then it's possible that you can regain your health, but not by simply slowing down or cutting back.
Avatar f tn You surely should not drink any alcohol at all while taking pain medication, or any medication for that matter.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, alcohol is known to cause flushing in some individuals. You are not allergic to alcohol. It causes direct vasodilation of the skin, related either to alcohol directly or its metabolite, acetaldehyde. Alcohol is oxidized to acetaldehyde in the liver by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH). This acetaldehyde is further converted to acetic acid by acetaldehyde dehydrogenase.
Avatar n tn What I read on your post describes alcohol withdrawal's physical effects. With alcohol use, it's more about tolerance of certain amounts. What may be a lot for one person isn't or is a lot for another. It's a lot for your husband, from the sounds of it, since he experiences tremors and black outs (not recalling conversations, how he got somewhere, etc.).
979080 tn?1323433639 This happens to most who abstain from alcohol for sometime, our body rejects it as it really is a type of poision.I have a funny feeling i wont be liking the effects either,it will be 4- 1/4 sincei had a drink if i do have one on SVR day.
Avatar m tn Well after years of alcohol abuse I felt proud today when I took out the glass recycling and it wasn't full of beer/wine/gin/scotch bottles..! The headaches the started when I stopped 23 days ago are becoming less and for a shorter times, the shakes have stopped, mood swings are more controllable now .... the craving's still there though as i'm sure it always will be ..!
Avatar n tn 12 ounces of regular beer (150 calories), 5 ounces of wine (100 calories), 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled liquor (100 calories). 1 drink is 2 fat exchanges & a regular beer is an additional 1 starch exchange. The ADA has a couple guidelines - although they'd prefer you not to drink at all. 1. Always eat something when you drink. You need glucose from food since your liver is busy straining alcohol out of your blood. 2.
716202 tn?1230395097 what is your question? r u worried about ur drinking? there is an alcohol forum here but all in all addictions r very similar...do u want to quit?
Avatar n tn prichard16 - yes, the types of calories makes a difference. While I agree with caregiver222, that 1000 calories is 1000 calories; if you make that 1000 calories a mix of fruits, veggies, dairy, lean meats, nuts, etc --- you will be much healthier and more likely to lose weight than if you get that 1000 calories from 5 candy bars (200 calories/each) throughout the day........... there's a huge difference........
Avatar f tn From what I've read here and other places alcohol is alcohol and no matter what form it can be just as bad. I guess it goes down to the amount of alcohol proof in the drink. If you're drinking enough beers to equal the amount in wine, you'd still be getting the same amount, probably with added carbs...It would be equally as damaging. I'm sure people on this forum who have experiance can give you more advice and support.
Avatar n tn So let me ask this....if a man consumes drugs and alcohol would the ingredients of the drugs and alcohol be present in the womans urine analysis after she consumes his sperm?
362249 tn?1441315018 Alcohol can trick you. It has calories so must be taken into account in your daily caloric counts but it does dehydrate you. Providing you don't drink alcohol the next day you will rehydrate and be back where you should be providing you didn't immensely go over your calorie intake. I just count it as it is since I weigh in daily.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
Avatar n tn Hi, if the piece of glass that is stuck in the skin is of medium size then one may use some scotch tape or duct tape to remove the glass piece. Soak the area in some water that has been mixed with Epsom salts or hydrogen peroxide or just some plain warm water and then use the duct tape. If the glass stuck under the skin or in the foot is visible and is protruding out of the skin then one may require to first sterilize a pair of tweezers with some alcohol.
1555116 tn?1294483683 If weight loss comes about by burning more than you eat, how can this be possible, especially on such a healthy diet and exercise plan, and particularly without all those alcohol calories? Any help anyone could give would be very much appreciated.
Avatar f tn t even look at carbs the same way anymore! You can even pass up potato chips. I read an article about alcohol in a diet. It faulted alcohol for being even easier to burn than carbs, so your body stores all your food and burns the alcohol instead, hence the "beer belly". Alcohol, as well as other high carb foods also make you crave more alcohol and high carb foods- a terrible cycle to fall into either way.
