Common Questions and Answers about Alcohol allergy red eyes

alcohol

Avatar n tn I have tried many different things and even now I am on an allergy drop where I put it under my tongue three times a day and it is supposed to cure my allergies for good. But no matter what I do my eyes are always red and I have tried just about everything I can think of it. They get the worst when I drink alchahol or not get enough sleep and so on. I have been using thera tears because I thought maybe I just have bad dry eye but those don't seem to do anything for me.
Avatar m tn I drank Holsten 3-4 years ago nothing happened but this time I got red face like red pepper, red eyes, rashes on forehead, below front of neck, knees and red palms with little nervousness but no itches. This is disturbing me and sounds like I would have to sacrifice my enjoyment of drinking beer Friday every week. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Avatar m tn after taking alcohol my eyes get itchy and red. can you please tell me, because of taking alcohol my eyes are red. As SGOT is normal to 40 units/litre... i am facing problem in winter... Is this kind of alergy or liver damage. after concern of eye doctor, he just prescribing allergy eye drops.
Avatar n tn Whenever my blood pressure increases my eyes become very red and sore. My eyes become very red and sore and hives appear on my eyelids. My eye rash started as a bit of raw skin at the outer corners where my eyes would tear, then spread to the fold of my upper eyelids, and now the entire undereye area of both eyes is painful, itchy, red and raw. After drinking alcohol the eye rash becomes much worse and causes me great pain. I have had an allergy test and are only allergic to milk and nuts.
Avatar n tn after i drink any kind of alcohol my face turns red, it looks like i have sun burn. if i continue to drink more my neck and chest get splochy red. it doesn't matter what kind of alcohol i drink, it even happens after i have just 2 drinks. why does this happen?
Avatar f tn t drink any more than 1 glass of wine. whenever i drink alcohol i get red flushes all over my body within 1-2 minutes, and my face gets a bit swollen(especially the lips) with my eyes going red. i also get dizzy and very very warm, and i can hear my heart fluttering (literally beating very fast and slow and then very fast and then slow).
Avatar m tn Avoid wine and alcohol products if you know that they trigger an asthma/ allergy attack. There are already a number of wines without the preservatives that causes the allergy. But have yourself tested first with what you are allergic to.
Avatar f tn It definitely sounds like you could have some type of allergy to alcohol! I have a friend who has very similar symptoms after drinking but his normally starts within about 6 hours of having a couple of drinks. Alcohol allergies at some level is surprisingly more common than most people think. My advice, talk to your Dr. about it just to make sure its nothing more serious ie: liver issues. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Now the hardest part is finding your allergy..first thing you need to do is cut out alcohol this always caused me problems with eyes, and allergic reaction, few days after having it,after 2 weeks you will find your eye lids feel 10 times better. Then you need to cut out caffeine,i.e chocolate, tea, coffee,no decaf coffee because also you could be allergic to the coffee bean, change it to a herb tea,an anti toxin,i.e white tea takes just the same as normal tea!
Avatar f tn It was my opthalmist who said i had an allergy and mild blepharitis. My eyes dont itch but they water. The skin under my eyes is very dry and red and sometimes itchy. Im not sure if this is related to the blepharitis? I am using a hot compress and massaging my eyes twice a day.
721949 tn?1230651677 I have had chronic red eyes now for about two months. I have sought medical help from 2 opthamologists ...had my eyes dilated....from this they found i have a over growth of blood vessels...a spot that i have had for two years and there has been no change....tested for dry eyes which was negative. i have been and three different steriod drops....allergy drops with great strides made with all of this. i haven't worn my contacts.....have stopped all drops over the counter and prescibed...
Avatar n tn m 26 and since 3-4 months ago my eyes started to feel painful. I started having dry eyes, red eyes, ... It was a hell to go through the day as I spent most of it behind a computer (work). Since then I have been to several optometrist and ophthalmologists. The first 3 I went to diagnosed an (bacterial) inflammination. I received different drops and gels but nothing really helped. My last ophthalmologist diagnosed it as an allergy.
Avatar f tn After about 10 minutes it spread to the other side of her face and under her eyes. Now, the rednedd around her face had subsided a little but now her under her eyes are so red that they look purple. THeyare not ithching swollen or tearing any more than usual. A friend of mine said that she look like a zombie. Any one know anything about this.

Avatar n tn You are not allergic alcohol. It causes direct vasodilation of the skin, related either to alcohol directly or its metabolite, acetaldehyde. Alcohol is oxidized to acetaldehyde in the liver by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH). This acetaldehyde is further converted to acetic acid by acetaldehyde dehydrogenase. In some individuals due to abnormal or deficient acetaldehyde dehydrogenase will cause accumulation of acetaldehyde which is a potent trigger of flushing.
Avatar m tn About 7 months later asked again he prescribed the softmed 55 because he said they would fit my eyes better. A few months after that is when my eyes got really red. Also, around that last time I had stopped breastfeeding and started taking birth control. No severe pain, there is some itching in both eyes and sometimes a little pain in the corner of my right eye. I do get a lot of headaches though (about twice a week) but that has been for many years, not just recent.
Avatar m tn Based on your comments, it sounds to me like you need something stronger than allergy drops. Five months is a long time to have red eyes. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Okay so I have been experiencing allergy symptoms such as itchy eyes and itchy nose...nothing else. And I also have this red spot next to my nose that won't go away it keeps coming back and it itches and it is red. Are these allergy symptoms? I personally don't suffer of any type of allergies.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am trying to make sense of some symptoms I had, and I think that they either relate to food I ate or a drug I took. A couple of weeks ago, I took some Theraflu, hot, lemon flavored in a packet form. About 20 minutes later, I had a beer, and shortly thereafter I ate some Chinese Food. Shortly after eating my dinner, I came home and laid down. Suddenly, I started feeling a shortness of breath, and some difficulty breathing.
