alcohol

779797 tn?1263618235 s called intoxication, not allergy. None of your symptoms point to an alcohol allergy. I suggest you stay away from it. Why make matters worse? Have you seen a doctor for any of these symptoms? Something as simple as an inner ear problem can also cause dizziness. Allergies can pop up out of nowhere. Did you test positive for anything?
Avatar f tn itchy, flushing face, itchy eyes, etc. I have read some posts that say an allergy to alcohol is rare but that it is likely something else in the wine or beer (preservatives, yeast, etc.). Also, I have read that it is possible that I have an allergy or intolerance to some kind of food, and the alcohol is making me react to the food. Is that possible? I have been tested for a gluten allergy and do not have it. I wonder if it is worth going to see an allergist.

13285008 tn?1429289536 the only allergy or intolerance in combination with alcohol that I know is having a histamine intolerance. You must know that I'm sensitive against HI and I can tell you a lot about it. Now you may ask yourself what histamine operates or so.. Foodstuff that ripens got a lot of histamine. Like tomatos, basicly everything what got the color red ;), sauerkraut, chocolate, beer, wine, cheese and so on. As soon as you eat sth histamine rich your body reacts with a allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn Since about last year, after almost everything I eat, I feel nauseated. Then recently i had a drink of alcohol, and immediately my mouth (lips and tongue) were swollen, along with difficulty breathing. Since then I stopped drinking alcohol, and it didn't happen for awhile until I went to the dentist for a filling. Immediately after she injected me, my lips and tongue started swelling up, and I again had trouble breathing. I also couldn't swallow.
Avatar n tn The last time I drank (half a beer) my nose started running and my eyes got sort of itchy. I believe it was bud light or bud select. I used to be able to drink without any problems until I quit drinking for 3 months. I'm 22 now. This has been going on since July. I have eliminated pretty much everything except alcohol and hops. Any ideas? THANK YOU!!!
Avatar f tn ve noticed that the day after I have a few drinks, my neck and chest get this itchy, burning sensation that lasts a couple of days. It first happened to me when I was about 25, and would only occur if I drank a certain type of liquor. Now it happens no matter what I drink. I don't get any red bumps, but I just feel like my skin in the neck and chest area have this tingling, burning and itching that just makes me want to rip my skin off because it's so annoying.
Avatar n tn Hi all: This Friday will be my 5th week on meds. I just developed dry, itchy skin on face around mouth, under nose and chin. Has anyone else developed this. Is this part of the sx or am I developing an allergy? It is so irritating. I bought benadryl gel and put it on on the way home from work. It relieved it after a few minutes. I just washed my face and put on some more before bed. It burns a little when I put it on. I'm going to take a capful of liquid benadryl now and see if it goes away.
Avatar n tn I have just begun experiencing bright red skin around my eyes after drinking one drink. I have never had this until two weeks ago and I'm 43. Why is this just now happening? I have drank alcohol for several years with no problems before now.
Avatar m tn It could be an allergy to alcohol, or certain types of alcohol, and totally unrelated to the mtx. Or the mtx is affecting your liver and kidney function to the point that it can't process the alcohol, leading to the itchy skin reaction. Either way, it sounds like you shouldn't be consuming alcohol until you find out the cause of your symptoms. This is something you don't want to test on your own, because allergies can be tricky.
Avatar f tn It definitely sounds like you could have some type of allergy to alcohol! I have a friend who has very similar symptoms after drinking but his normally starts within about 6 hours of having a couple of drinks. Alcohol allergies at some level is surprisingly more common than most people think. My advice, talk to your Dr. about it just to make sure its nothing more serious ie: liver issues. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Avoid wine and alcohol products if you know that they trigger an asthma/ allergy attack. There are already a number of wines without the preservatives that causes the allergy. But have yourself tested first with what you are allergic to.
1253922 tn?1283235149 NEVER in the 12 years I have been an RN have I seen any blistering related to being Diabetic, plus you are only experiencing this with alcohol drinking. Just avoid the alcohol would be the easiest solution.
Avatar m tn Thanks for getting back,I did cut alcohol out entirely. gone back to 5mg lamictal until I see my doctor. Mind you the Allergy test came back negative for Steven's Johnson, or any other allergy to Lamictal when I did that 4 weeks ago, or else I wouldnt have gone back on it. Thanks again for for your input.
