1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
Avatar n tn as a rule narcs can be stopped much less dangerously than heavy alcohol abuse//physically// cos as a rule there is no risks unless a narc user is old and has heart failure//mentally both r a true bumber//and aftercare for alcohol abuse is almost imperative cos it is everywhere//and drug abuse is not socially acceptable like alcohol is..peeps do not pass out oxys at the bowling alley like they do beers u didnt state what ur abuse issue was/or if there was one at all???..
Avatar f tn An RN physically abused my mother in a nursing home. Then on the phone, she lied to me and to my sister about the necessity of surgery for my mother, and even told me that I could be arrested if I did not allow the surgery. So I agreed to the surgery. When I got to the hospital, the surgeon asked me not to make him do this surgery, because it was only for the nursing staff's convenience. I refused surgery for her, and she was sent back to the nursing home.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
Avatar f tn You want to eat right and stay away from all unneeded drugs and alcohol while you are pregnant and nursing or mothering young children. Please take good care of yourself and that way you can be sure you are taking the best care of your child!
Avatar f tn I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent. So, let me give you the facts that you probably already know, but they are important to repeat.
Avatar m tn I am so glad that you have finally come to a realization that alcohol abuse is truly poisonous to your body. It leaches vitamins and nutrients out of you and damages your central nervous system. That is why I always suggest that alcohol detox take place in a hospital under medical supervision. You need to be on medication such as benzodiazapines to prevent seizures and have IV vitamin supplementation, especially thiamine, among others. Please do not take this advise lightly.
Avatar f tn t work that way. Alcohol is a drug just like the others and is just as dangerous. I never liked alcohol. In fact, I've been drunk enough times to count on one hand. However, I plan to never drink again. Why? Because the brain has no way to differentiate between the chemicals that I use to alter my mood. You're discovering that addiction actually has very little to do with the substances we take. It's a mental disease that changes the very way we think.
Avatar m tn hi.. don't worry that drug abuse treatment is very costly. many drug rehab centers are available to treat you against Drug addiction. Please have patience and try to quit it because its good for your health.
Avatar n tn Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. I have researched symptoms of alcohol and Tylenol abuse and found possible signs of liver damage. For the concern of my daughter, we are extremely scared on what he is capable of when she see's him. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.

Avatar f tn Hi, you're asking how to take Plan B the termination pill because being pregnant the second time right after giving birth would be REALLY unwelcome. Well, you need to talk to your doctor about a couple of things. First, if you are nursing, can you take Plan B. You most likely can but I'd double check. Hormones are involved in breast milk production and Plan B is a big dose of hormones.
Avatar m tn being in the health care field myself i feel helpless not being able to help him..kindly advise.. i will be forever obliged for your advise.. his wieght is 90 kgs, he is a cronic smoker, cronic alcoholic( absteining now due to peptic ulcers which was diagnosed about 2 months back), no h/o DM, HTN..
Avatar f tn You just took a pregnancy test and you see two lines. You're pregnant! Congratulations!!! But... now what? The first things women do when they find out they are pregnant are to take prenatal vitamins and skip alcohol, drugs and cigarettes. But an even more important step is to find out who will be taking care of you during your pregnancy (unless you are choosing unassisted birth which we'll talk about another day). There are three types of care providers for pregnant women.

Avatar f tn On average, it can take about 2-3 hrs for your body to get rid of 1 serving of beer/wine. It can take up to 13 hrs to get rid of stronger alcohol from your body.
Avatar f tn Hey I've been 4-5 months off klonopin, after 8 years of abuse. Even though it's been 4 months I feel like my hearts racing constantly, it's hard to get to sleep without alcohol, the ringing in my ear is constant, it goes on 24/7 I really need someone to talk to to get through this. I'm seeing a doctor, I go in tomorrow but I feel to anxious to go, she's a good person but the anxiety is always there and I'm tired of it.
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
Avatar f tn You do realize that in drug/alcohol rehab settings, generally almost all the staff is recovering themselves (nurses, doctors, counselors) so that they can empathize with the patients. Did you notify the Board of Nursing about your DUI? Are they OK with it? If so, the next time I filled out an application that asked the criminal record, I would keep it extremely brief, e.g.: " DUI 11/2011. Outpt. tx. successful. Currently attends AA regularly. Nursing Board aware.
202436 tn?1326474333 For those of you who have recently had babies or had babies in the past...how do you handle umbilical cord care? I know some people say it's not necessary to do the alcohol and it's also ok to get it wet during baths. I've always done the alcohol becuase thats what I've always been told. My first 3 their stumps fell off by 2-3 weeks. With Gabe his took a month and I had to take him to the doctor to have the stuff that freezes it off done.
1069419 tn?1343096174 She is not a good care assistant for you. Call medicare and find out who you can contact for after surgery care nursing. Explain what has been happening to you. This is abuse! You can also call your family physician for help. He can put you in touch with the proper people. Employ them. Medicare also covers after surgery care nursing. So don't think you don't qualify. Your mother sounds to be addicted to pain medications. Don't even enable her with giving her any of yours.
Avatar f tn I never had any pain or trouble. Plan on breast feeding my second. I know a lot of people who did have trouble though. Everyone is different.
Avatar f tn The use of E-33 for diabetic wound care is not acceptable nursing home practice.
2176476 tn?1338605299 So you may be able to find a drug and alcohol counsellor through the same place that diagnosed you as bipolar 1. Your health care team need to know if you are taking alcohol with any prescribed meds. Alcohol is a depressant and will make getting stable really hard. It is so good you are recognizing the need for help. You may want to reconsider AA. My understanding is that each group has a very different dynamic and sometimes you have to 'shop around' to find a good fit.
Avatar f tn Have any women thought of choosing "kangaroo care" over the normal care of having a nurse wash and.swaddle your.baby before he/she is handed to.you?
