Avatar f tn I know our first visitors to this wonderful continent thought they had arrived at India, thus, reffering to the native inhabitants as Indians. Well, it stuck. Now the original inhabitants are reffered to as Native Americans. (America..Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian explorer) So they are Native Italians?...What's in a name? I always thought that using Native American names was an honor toward our original inhabitants.

Avatar m tn Its interesting because the newspaper is saying that he "hated the homeless" but I believe he shot 2 Native Americans. There is a minority group if there ever was one. There is a group of repressed individuals if there ever was one and all you hear is crickets..... Nobody is saying a word.
535822 tn?1443976780 However other provisions of the legal agreement are to address the rampant poverty among native Americans and health care issues as well which I would support. The legal powers granted to native Americans from what I can see now basically involve separate regulations as regards issues such as taxation regarding cigarettes and the right to own and operate casinos and other issues which are hardly beneficial.
Avatar n tn I am a first time mom and I have so many questions about everything. I'm sure every first time mom does. but my boyfriends family is Native American and I also am. I guess in their tribe they don't do the baby showers until after the baby has arrived and is here. I buy my baby girl everything I feel that she is going to need when she is here...

Is she controlling and managing her diabetes or playing the ignore game? If the latter severe problems will arise. For example, in 2006 an estimated 65,000 Americans had a lower limb - foot/leg - amputated because of uncontrolled diabetes. Pretty good business for the local wheelchair supplier.
Avatar n tn Lactose intolerance is found in as many as 75% of African Americans, Jewish Americans, Mexican Americans, and Native Americans, and in 90% of Asian Americans. Descendants of Northern Europeans and some Mediterranean peoples usually do not develop the condition. Deficiencies in enzymes other than lactase are extremely rare.” The deficiency of enzymes can result from diseases like Celiac Disease and Tropical Sprue.
Avatar f tn s native. You can take it in a tea or alcohol tincture, but it tastes pretty awful. You can take the plain herb in a capsule. You can take the juice in a capsule. And you can take a standardized extract in a capsule, which is how most Americans use it. The latter form may be tied to some liver problems, but it's hard to say -- the people involved were also taking a lot of medications and illegal drugs, so blaming it on the kava seems premature (not to mention a bit biased).
Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar n tn as a rule narcs can be stopped much less dangerously than heavy alcohol abuse//physically// cos as a rule there is no risks unless a narc user is old and has heart failure//mentally both r a true bumber//and aftercare for alcohol abuse is almost imperative cos it is everywhere//and drug abuse is not socially acceptable like alcohol is..peeps do not pass out oxys at the bowling alley like they do beers u didnt state what ur abuse issue was/or if there was one at all???..

Avatar f tn Also, there are certain ethnic groups, mainly Native Americans, that succumbed to tuberculosis very quickly once they were taken out of their native surroundings and placed in boarding schools.
Avatar f tn t think anyone questions that she made up that she feels her family is affiliated with native americans--- she was told this by her family and believes it. And after employment she told her employer. She liked this idea of herself that she believed and wanted to share it. Like I said, what's the BFD? I think Brown kind of looked like a jerk with that whole thing and . . . well, he DID lose his seat.
Avatar n tn m having depression/anxiety issues after alcohol abuse) but maybe someone here might also know something about this. I know no one here knows this for sure, and maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on here but thought I would put it out there. I am just wondering if anyone here has ever asked their doctor or qualified professional if it is possible to run out of neurotransmitters whether it be naturally or from substance abuse. I'm a young male (24) and abused alcoholfor 5-6 years.
1801781 tn?1461629469 That seemed a bit high to me. However, I did find out that the US is the leading country for meds abuse. Question...does anyone really know??
1223598 tn?1289968459 It specializes in a LOT of different areas, and is Native american based in beleif which suits me well. Native belief is centred on the belief of balance in everything in life, and against "addict energies". If more people knew this, they would know that the native way is one of the best to learn how to get rid of addictions. I am taking the steps to help. I am looking for advice though.
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
Avatar m tn In this system A stands for age (peak incidence being in the 5th to 7th decades of life and African Americans, Asians, and native Americans in whom subungual melanoma accounts for up to one third of all melanoma cases. B stands for brown to black b and with breadth of 3 mm or more and variegated borders. Avatar m tn s inner bark comes in contact with water, the gummy substance (or mucilage) swells and produces a soothing, softening ointment and coating. Native Americans used it on skin wounds, and when it dried, it became a natural bandage, and they also wrapped Slippery Elm Bark around meat to prevent bacterial spoilage. The English settlers soon noticed its widespread use by Native Americans and included it into their medicinal applications for wounds and mouth.
Avatar f tn In its non-symptomatic form, it is more common among Asians and Native Americans than among other populations, and in some families there is a tendency to inherit the condition unilaterally, that is, on one hand only.
649848 tn?1534633700 Didn't hear about the Native American incident... do you have a link to that story? I've read a lot about the Native Americans being against the occupation, but nothing about the Feds "kicking the crud out of some Native Americans"...
