Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
3122657 tn?1357432602 Hi all my good friends i have a question i am having a lot more joint pain and headaches i wanted to know if i could use rubbing alcohol on my muscles to reduce the the joint pain im thinking no but i figured i would ask anyway because im in pain
Avatar f tn Also, I have been a binge drinker for a long time and since exposure I started drinking heavily. I read that alcohol abuse doesnt affect antibody testing. But can alcohol abuse affect the creation of HIV antigens? Is it possible that drinking a lot causes my body to not create efficient amounts of HIV antigens in a month so the 4th Generation tests doesn't pick it up? (Before antibodies are created). Any input and/or sources would be appreciated!
Avatar f tn I have joint pain in my knees and elbows, weakness in knees after kneeling down and trying to stand up. I have numbness that comes and goes in my feet. My chemo/raidiation treatments ended a year ago. Are these aches and pains caused by the after effects of the drugs and radiation? I also have trouble taking antibiotics or pain meds. I seems to get every side effect listed. Alcohol of any type bothers me also. I use to enjoy a glass of wine but no longer.
Avatar f tn I have never seen any evidence whatsoever that drinking after one has achieved SVR can trigger a recurrence of hepatitis c. Abuse of alcohol can certainly damage your liver but it will not "bring the hep c back".
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
Avatar n tn If your pain is joint related, such as Arthritis, you can safely take 800mg of Ibuprofen three times a day. I'm repoeating what my Gastroenterologist said. Everyone is different though, so ask your doctor regarding that drug and dosage. Stay away from Tylenol and aspirin if at all possible...
Avatar n tn While I drink the alcohol I have no pain, but in the morning after it is worn off the pain begins. It is worse the more I drink. It persists for days after, but usually subsides around 5 days. I have been to a cardio to make sure it wasn't heart. Stress, echo and ECG only showed sinus tacky, probably due to me being nervous, all else was fine. I was proscribed a Proton Pump inhibitor for a month. This did not help.
Avatar n tn Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. I have researched symptoms of alcohol and Tylenol abuse and found possible signs of liver damage. For the concern of my daughter, we are extremely scared on what he is capable of when she see's him. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced joint pain relief from taking thyroid medication? I had an active auto immune disease that is no longer active, but still have joint pain. I am also recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and am scared to take the medication. I tried it once and felt like my heart was racing, very thirst, and very uncomfortable. It was a bad experience. My doctor told me to half the dose, but I was to scared to try it again.
Avatar n tn It's been a really long time, four years since the treatment ended still clear.
Avatar m tn hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.
Avatar n tn Hence, in your case, alcohol may be the culprit. May be you can avoid taking too much of it one go as usually it’s the abuse of alcohol which results in muscle spasm. I hope that helps. Kindly do keep me posted.
Avatar m tn Well when I use to use coke I would just be numb and not want to be around people highly doubt coke or maybe pain pills cause when first started them I was very good mood and always talking or possibly alcohol cause people like to talk when drinking and they laugh too but you probably wont know for sure unless they tell you or a drug test.
Avatar m tn if the xanax is in addition to the alcohol.....then he's really playing with fire here. being a medical student, you should know already how diazepam is used for withdrawal from xanax. this needs to be dr surpervised and the process alone of switching from xanax to valium is a long process...but ultimately at these doses and with alcohol in the mix, perhaps thats the best route? a doctor will know best...but the alcohol needs to be dealt with FIRST...then the xanax.

1255505 tn?1272819115 How many people here have a history of substance abuse? Did it result from or result in any episodes? I abused cannabis off and on from 13 to 20. I abused LSD from 16 to 20. I abused alcohol off and on from 21 to 37. I abused morphine & oxycodone at 40. Yikes! I also tried a few other things, but they never really took hold.
Avatar f tn how can i help my dad getting over his alcohol dont get mw wrong hes been off it for four week now but he keep on taking painkiller everyday and hes not eatting that much as well is there any vitamins or anything that could help him.
Avatar f tn Pancreatitis often turns into the gift that keeps on giving and becomes a horribly painful, chronic condition. Alcohol abuse is a common cause of pancreatitis and any doctor will tell you that alcohol has to go out of your life forever or you risk another acute attack. Alcohlic hepatitis is another condition high on the list of suspects. Binge drinking can be just as harmful as drinking every day and there's no way to tell who will develop life-threatening problems from it.
Avatar n tn He abuses alcohol and takes percocets for pain. He has developed neuropathy and I believe it to be from the alcohol and opiate use. Does anyone have any suggestions for treating his osteo pain that doesn't involve opiate use or which will affect his heart meds? If given a healthier option for pain it would be easier for him to stop using the opiates.
789911 tn?1368636783 however, it may avoid neurological damage - nerve damage from chronic alcohol abuse may itself cause neuropathic pain eventually - and it will give her medication regime a chance to either work or to be honestly assessed by her. With alcohol interfering all the time, it is going to be pretty hopeless for her to reliably assess the efficacy of her medications. Finally, switching from alcohol use to alcohol abuse may well be an indication of moderate to severe depression.
Avatar m tn Is it concluded that there is to be no more alcohol of any kind forever? What about after you have cleared the virus?
