Avatar n tn I'm a heterosexual male who has recently had some bicurious inclinations. While I was in another city, I got extremely intoxicated at friends' party and only have vague recollections of the night. I remember going to some guy I met's place, having anal intercourse at least at first with a condom but hard to know for sure if it remained on, and then oral sex without a condom.
Avatar m tn those facts are useless some people live with HIV + PEOPLE and never get infected and some get infected from first time statistics with medical issues are useless just stay protected and that is the BEST you can do
Avatar n tn I am looking for information and transmission facts and statistics relating to partners who both have HSV-1 orally and one has HSV-2 genitally. Although I know that the chances of spreading HSV-1 to eithers genitals is extremely low, is there any numbers out there on this? Also on the transmission of HSV-2 to the mouth of someone who already has HSV-1? Thanks in advance.
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.

Avatar m tn could someone please tell me the correlation and risk between "alcohol and alcohol abuse and the effects or risk of sudden cardiac death from arrythmias"?
2176476 tn?1338605299 Your health care team need to know if you are taking alcohol with any prescribed meds. Alcohol is a depressant and will make getting stable really hard. It is so good you are recognizing the need for help. You may want to reconsider AA. My understanding is that each group has a very different dynamic and sometimes you have to 'shop around' to find a good fit. My best friend is a former alcoholic and that is what I heard from her.
Avatar n tn Drug or alcohol abuse is common in persons with bipolar disorder and can mask the symptoms, thus complicating diagnosis and treatment. Recognizing and treating any drug abuse is a priority, since it is a strong predictor of suicide, especially in men. Before treatment begins, the patient receives a careful physical exam, and blood and urine are tested to detect conditions that could put medical constraints on the choice of treatment.
Tbd By the way, the only reason I mentioned this at all is that "fun with statistics" is so prevalent in today's society. Important to remember that statistics don't represent facts, they are one argument for a position. They are very difficult to get right, and impossible for others to know if the study was done correctly or for a purpose and therefore skewed. You can use statistics to prove almost anything if you want to.
Avatar n tn hi. there are two reasons for this. in alcohol abuse, the person will commonly eat very poorly which can cause an imbalance of nutrients. this can appear as malabsorption. the more direct relationship is due to damage to the digestive tract, especially the liver and pancreas that produce enzymes essential to digestion.
Avatar m tn d be putting a strain on them to process the alcohol, possibly leading to unnecessary inflammation. Less damage, more healthy cells and less strain on that healthy part from alcohol and other toxins. Like Frank, I can't really imagine going back to old habits like drinking regularly. I have become a true 'social drinker'. The rare glass of wine at a dinner or wedding, but no more visits to the wine aisle in the store, ever.
649848 tn?1534633700 Facts and statistics are often cherry-picked to present a “narrative” that all white people are racist and all blacks are victimized by whites. These statistics suggest this is a biased view that serves only to exacerbate racial tensions. Human beings should be presumed innocent until proven guilty and should not be lumped into categories that make them appear guilty of committing some crime that in many cases they had nothing to do with.
Avatar f tn We've all seen a lot of different statistics regarding the role of alcohol in BC and there's probably no definitive answer that fits everyone. However, a couple of reports you might want to consider: 1.
Avatar n tn Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. I have researched symptoms of alcohol and Tylenol abuse and found possible signs of liver damage. For the concern of my daughter, we are extremely scared on what he is capable of when she see's him. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.
Avatar m tn I originally posted on the Addiction, etc. forum but my post was moved by someone to this forum. I have had problems with alcohol and other drugs in the past so I know that I have addiction issues. I am trying to find a way to manage the pain without going off the deep end. The solution for me may be to give the pills to a close friend and just keep enough for 2 or 3 days in my possession. I hate how weak that sounds, but, hey...facts are facts and I do have the addiction issues.
