Common Questions and Answers about Alcohol abuse by country

alcohol

Avatar f tn But, alcohol abuse remains high, so those that are pushing the legalization of marijuana have firm ground to stand on. Alcohol is at least as damaging to the body as weed, so they're managing to push it. Plus, the idea of being able to subsidize it has many in the government drooling. People in this country hear some sensationalized media report that drinking a little bit of red wine is very healthy; so they hammer back a bottle of it a day.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
Avatar n tn My son's six year old daughter has been sexually molested by her eight year old girl cousin on her mother's side. My granddaughter was very graphic in her description of the abuse and where it happened. The other child initially lied about it, but has admitted to it. This cousin has a rather long history of serious behavioral problems and is the child of a mother who abuses alcohol and drugs, and has many "boyfriends" coming through their home.
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
1801781 tn?1461629469 That seemed a bit high to me. However, I did find out that the US is the leading country for meds abuse. Question...does anyone really know??
Avatar n tn as a rule narcs can be stopped much less dangerously than heavy alcohol abuse//physically// cos as a rule there is no risks unless a narc user is old and has heart failure//mentally both r a true bumber//and aftercare for alcohol abuse is almost imperative cos it is everywhere//and drug abuse is not socially acceptable like alcohol is..peeps do not pass out oxys at the bowling alley like they do beers u didnt state what ur abuse issue was/or if there was one at all???..
Avatar n tn I used to abuse Adderall. I was taking 10x the prescribed amount with alcohol. I did this probably a dozen times. That was almost a year ago. I just had some bloodwork done and I have high liver enzymes. Could this be linked to Adderall abuse? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. I have researched symptoms of alcohol and Tylenol abuse and found possible signs of liver damage. For the concern of my daughter, we are extremely scared on what he is capable of when she see's him. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.
Avatar m tn I am not wishing ill fate on someone but I refuse to get him help by taking him to the doctor if he refuses to stop his drug and alcohol abuse. So with that said can someone tell me the life expectancy on someone like this so we know if we should be planning a funeral anytime soon.
594255 tn?1219163564 Go to ur country of residence outpatient substance abuse clinic. They have funding to place u in detox and do treatment if u r willing to stop drinking.
1032715 tn?1315984234 My substance abuse was my way of dealing with the sexual abuse which occurred from the age of 7 to 10 perpertrated by my brother who was 10years older than me.
243614 tn?1266197537 I have only just recently read about it and I did not get a very good impression. The FDA has warning's out about possible injection site infections that can be very serious. Also, like the "Rapid Detox" method of detoxing from opiates it entails blocking certain receptors in your brain. This is a very new procedure that is controversial at best and can lead to death by overdose if the one being treated try's to use alcohol or narcotics during or after the process.
1255505 tn?1272819115 How many people here have a history of substance abuse? Did it result from or result in any episodes? I abused cannabis off and on from 13 to 20. I abused LSD from 16 to 20. I abused alcohol off and on from 21 to 37. I abused morphine & oxycodone at 40. Yikes! I also tried a few other things, but they never really took hold.
362971 tn?1201987034 As I recall from biochemistry, 30 g of alcohol can be detoxified by a healthy liver in 1 hr without obvious intoxication effect (the same effect for which alcohol is consumed in the 1st place). The emphasis should be given to the term of a "healthy" liver. Interestingly, a few studies I read lately suggest that heavier consumption for "healthy" livers is a safe and sound practice... for whatever reasons the think it is appropriate.... This makes me wonder...
1980361 tn?1345254209 The sad truth about abuse is that really, all we want is to be loved by our parent that is hurting us. You, like any other, feel great when she is being "nice". You can love her while protecting yourself and your brother. Talk to your dad. It may be a matter of your brother having another arrangement after school. You also need to talk to him so that you can get your own help dear. YOu are cutting and starving yourself. This is dangerous and needs professional help.
Avatar m tn Wow that is a heavy duty question.......the risk of sudden death and arrythmias due from alcohol abuse are fairly remote however you have to remember that with overdoing it with the alcohol which is a depressive causes your whole system to slow down and depress everything in your body....
Avatar f tn Call child protection services to make your own report. If they ignore you try looking up Children's Ombudsman. You can find yours by country and area. Then give complaint about what they're not doing and is happening with your grandson. Don't stop trying to protect a child. They do deserve to be treated as any human. Good luck. P.S. My rule of thumb is, 'There is always someone above someone else.' You just have to keep reaching until you find some help.
Avatar m tn if the xanax is in addition to the alcohol.....then he's really playing with fire here. being a medical student, you should know already how diazepam is used for withdrawal from xanax. this needs to be dr surpervised and the process alone of switching from xanax to valium is a long process...but ultimately at these doses and with alcohol in the mix, perhaps thats the best route? a doctor will know best...but the alcohol needs to be dealt with FIRST...then the xanax.
Avatar f tn how can i help my dad getting over his alcohol dont get mw wrong hes been off it for four week now but he keep on taking painkiller everyday and hes not eatting that much as well is there any vitamins or anything that could help him.
Avatar n tn I have a hard time believing that such powerful drugs will not interact with alcohol, and that they are completely out of her system by evening. I am also concerned about the addition of birth control pills in the "mix". Do I have anything to worry about? There are a lot of scary "confessions" on the Internet from Adderall abusers, I just don't know who to believe. She also has a family history of addiction and drug/alcohol abuse that I am concerned about.
Avatar m tn hi.. don't worry that drug abuse treatment is very costly. many drug rehab centers are available to treat you against Drug addiction. Please have patience and try to quit it because its good for your health.
Avatar f tn This is the first that I have heard of this and it is very disturbing. There is enough of an epidemic in this country with drug and alcohol abuse without glorifying it any more. I could see how this would seem 'cool' to impressionable kids that often have enough pressure to try drugs and alcohol. Very sad.
Avatar m tn Is it concluded that there is to be no more alcohol of any kind forever? What about after you have cleared the virus?
Avatar f tn m beginning to wonder that due to the opiate epidemic if the majority of inquiries in the entire forum are @ opiates?Alcohol is still a killer, taking many lives a year and contributing to heart disease and various cancers!
