Avatar n tn You have good reason to be worried. I doubt whether an a doctor would tell your daughter that there is no danger in this combination of drugs. This is indeed a dangerous combination and although she may be lucky and have no effect she is taking a very big risk and she should know that.
1374838 tn?1278684631 t drink we are very happy together. I have a history of drug and alcohol abuse, I have in the past been addicted to cocaine, weed and alcohol. I stopped smoking because I was too paranoid and stopped taking cocaine because my habit was too expensive and excessive. With alcohol, I had been to AA at the age of 20 when I was regularly drinking while in an unhappy relationship. When this ended I had been able to drink moderately and even excessively without any problems.
190885 tn?1333025891 She needs to be seen by a gynecologist. Alcohol abuse can play he!! on a female's body. It messes with our cycles and when we are drinking we dont usually pay attention to what our body is trying to tell us. I hope she will take a look at her behavior and get to the doctor.
Avatar f tn Becoming free from alcohol is a very doable thing. But remaining free from alcohol takes work. I had to take part in my own recovery and work on myself so I would change. If I don't change nothing changes. Nobody could do that for me. But there are millions of us in recovery all over the world. So freedom for you is out there waiting. Keep your willingness and continue to make the steps in the right direction like you've described in your post. You don't have to be sick anymore.
Avatar f tn My question is this I have a history of alcohol abuse, it started about 12 years ago when I had my child, I met a guy (who I spent 10 years with), could never get a babysitter so he started bringing beer into the house (only ever drank when I went out prior to this) after a year we were drinking a full bottle of scotch together every night,I had a very highly paid job god only knows how I kept it without being dicovered, after 10 years I left him tried to make a new start abroad it went wrong I
1563920 tn?1299288683 If you look at my past posts, I have been dealing with neurological issues for some time now. I have been very depressed about everything, from having to quit nursing to my inability to work and drive. During this time, I have been turning to alcohol to kind of deal with my problems, not such a good idea, I know!!! It hadn't seemed to be a problem until last night. A group of my friends, including my boyfriend, went out for my birthday.
Avatar n tn as a rule narcs can be stopped much less dangerously than heavy alcohol abuse//physically// cos as a rule there is no risks unless a narc user is old and has heart failure//mentally both r a true bumber//and aftercare for alcohol abuse is almost imperative cos it is everywhere//and drug abuse is not socially acceptable like alcohol is..peeps do not pass out oxys at the bowling alley like they do beers u didnt state what ur abuse issue was/or if there was one at all???..
Avatar n tn My son's six year old daughter has been sexually molested by her eight year old girl cousin on her mother's side. My granddaughter was very graphic in her description of the abuse and where it happened. The other child initially lied about it, but has admitted to it. This cousin has a rather long history of serious behavioral problems and is the child of a mother who abuses alcohol and drugs, and has many "boyfriends" coming through their home.
1621722 tn?1333050499 Welcome to the forum. None of us are qualified to give you any sort of diagnosis, especially online. If you're using alcohol as a way to deal with anxiety and depression, you could be heading down a slippery slope. It already sounds as though you need to figure out exactly how bad your "problem" with alcohol is...and the sooner the better, before it gets any worse.
Avatar n tn Yes they do display certain kinds of behavior that send up a red flag, and yes I do believe that other kinds of behavior manifest when they are adults, if you are talking about your self would you like to enlarge?
Avatar n tn My boyfriend seems to get either drunk or severly hammered (consisting of black out phases) at least twice a week. He bowls on Thursday and friday nights and get's severly hammered to where he can't even speak clearly. He also sleep walks when he's been heavily drinking. He has tried walking into my daughters room on a few occasions because he thought it was the bathroom. He typically never remembers conversations, arguements, ect the next day.
Avatar n tn Our daughter was forced to have unsupervised custody last week where she informed us that he was vomiting all evening. I have researched symptoms of alcohol and Tylenol abuse and found possible signs of liver damage. For the concern of my daughter, we are extremely scared on what he is capable of when she see's him. We are hoping anyone who has experience on this could offer us advise.
Avatar n tn You need to attend a dual recovery group for a person with a psychiatric disability and alcohol/substance abuse issue. That is part of the key to gaining control over this. You may very well have bipolar as self medication can be a part of it but medication can't work as it should when a person is drinking at that level so that needs to be dealt with as well.
Avatar m tn If your friend doesn’t kick the alcohol/drug abuse prior to starting this treatment, I doubt she will be able to handle the side effects of the treatment. If she doesn’t do the treatment and continues with the alcohol/drug abuse, she should at least go shopping for a coffin. You should also distance your self from her because you can’t stop a train wreck. Liver Cancer is a horrible way to die and if she brings it upon herself, you shouldn’t have to watch it.
Avatar m tn s not generally regarded as having high abuse potential but does seem to hit that spot for some. Alcohol also acts on GABA for example so alcoholics may be prone to abuse baclofen. I have a close relative who o'd on her prescribed baclofen & ended up in a coma so it's not a drug that you want to take more than prescribed. It can be effective as an antispasmodic, so worth a try as long as you proceed with caution. It needs to be tapered from as all do all GABA acting drugs, (e.g.
Avatar f tn He also tried to kiss my chest and then started gyrating his hips in a sexual way. I corrected him but I am concerned about where he learned this behavior. I have had him in my care for a couple months now while my son has been in the hospital and I am concerned he has learned this from the mom.
396099 tn?1216254986 In mice that voluntarily drank alcohol for 28 days, depression-like behavior was evident 14 days after termination of alcohol drinking. This suggests that people who stop drinking may experience negative mood states days or weeks after the alcohol has cleared their systems," The mice were tested for depression-like behavior using a widely recognized method called the Porsolt Swim Test. The mice are placed inside a beaker filled with water and allowed to swim for six minutes.
Avatar m tn if the xanax is in addition to the alcohol.....then he's really playing with fire here. being a medical student, you should know already how diazepam is used for withdrawal from xanax. this needs to be dr surpervised and the process alone of switching from xanax to valium is a long process...but ultimately at these doses and with alcohol in the mix, perhaps thats the best route? a doctor will know best...but the alcohol needs to be dealt with FIRST...then the xanax.
Avatar n tn So for a long while now I have suspected that I have an alcohol problem, but I would not describe myself as a textbook alcoholic. Once a week, I get a very strong desire to drink. I start to feel elated and very excited about going out to drink and have a good time. Once drunk, I am a totally different person. I say and do things that I would never say and do in a normal mood. My husband has commented that I am like two different people and that this change occurs after only 1 or 2 drinks.
1462324 tn?1285929983 Verbal abuse is the worst. We here so much about the little dog who broke the chain and bit the girl on the ankle. But we dont here how the little girl walked down the alley twice a day and verballly abused, stomped at and terrorized the dog for a yr before the chain broke. Often this verbal abuse comes from women because they know there is no law against it.
1255505 tn?1272819115 How many people here have a history of substance abuse? Did it result from or result in any episodes? I abused cannabis off and on from 13 to 20. I abused LSD from 16 to 20. I abused alcohol off and on from 21 to 37. I abused morphine & oxycodone at 40. Yikes! I also tried a few other things, but they never really took hold.

Avatar n tn But my constant alcohol abuse and bi monthly (nowadays) has led me to self perscribing myself a once a day, 1mg xanax pill, which has helped me tremendosly. My focus issues go away. Im alot less tense. Im strangley tense alot, have common mood swings, and i am incredibly stressed out of my god damn mind. Xanax causes relif for this, and i dont drink on it nor do i abuse it. Is it possible that xanax should be a drug that should be perscribed to me? Its helped me in so many ways, it really has.
Avatar n tn Do you only get angry when you drink alcohol? Alcohol is not to blame. WE put alcohol in our systems. If we know that it changes our behavior in a bad way, then we should take steps to avoid it. Good luck.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge it runs in families, you need to catch it early and you will save yourself a world of heartache will horrible behavior and possible drug and alcohol abuse and even a risk of suicide if you catch it now. Please do not wait. And remember I am an experienced patient who cannot give medical information. I can only give information from my life experiences.
