However, my asthma inhaler is a different story, Like Losingmymind said, it is VERY important for the baby to have the proper amount of oxygen. The only inhaler I currently use is my Albuterol and I used it with my first pregnancy too. I did a ton of research and found out it's been around for years and used safely to control asthma during pregnancy.

I haven't used it myself, but my mom did with my baby brother and he's a healthy one.

even walking from one room to another is a huge toll on me...I read that albuterol is a class C drug and has not been studied in pregnancy in humans...in animals is is linked to cleft palate defects and other defects too! Since I am in the 2ww I am not sure if I took my albuterol in my nebulizer if I'd be risking my potential babies health. I'll call my pharmacist or dr. in a couple hours but it is only 5 a.m. and I won't be able to call until 9...when they open.

I was told the steriod I was on would be safe while pregnant but I didn't want to take any risk so I did end up needing the albuterol inhaler more. I took it at least once a day sometimes more depending on if I was around smoke or up moving a lot. This pregnancy I've had to take my albuterol everytime I walk outside and I still take it every morning when I wake up.

Phill, the nebulizer just delivers the albuterol in a better form, doesn't it? It's still albuterol? If your doc knows you're on that, it sounds like it would probably be safe to take. Do you have an after hours nurse you could call to confirm that? If you can't get your breathing under control and you feel like you can't catch your breath it's an emergency situation - you can always go to the ER and they will treat you right away. I'm 22 weeks and asthma has been a little bad it's controllable but the only thing that calms it is my albuterol inhaler doctor said its fine to take I'd rather not be taking it but its the only thing that helps me I usually just take up to 2-3 puffs a day..

I have had asthma for the last 5 years and was on singulair daily and I also have an albuterol inhailer but I stopped taking them when I found out I was pregnant. I have been fine with my breathing until yesterday. I'm getting this nasty cold and I can feel the tightening in my chest. The doctor told me to start my meds but they are class b and c medications. Singulair said its safe but there is no human studies..... It doesn't sound safe to me.

I have asthma and use inhaler (long acting and short acting) and Singulair. My pulmonary doc and OB said they're fine to use in pregnancy. im 15 weeks and on albuterol inhaler and when my doctor brough up my asthma to me at my last appointment she told me not being able to breath is more of a risk to my baby than taking my albuterol. id assume the same is true for you. if they dont think that inhaler is safe for you or baby anymore, maybe they can switch you to something to use during the pregnancy that will help you breathe.

Not really pregnancy related I don't guess, but I just found an empty tube of Albuterol in my room. Which wouldn't make any normal person fall to pieces crying on the floor. Are you sure she had a reaction to albuterol? I can easily see the steroid as the culprit, but albuterol surprises me. Of course, if you overuse it you will get a fast heart beat, but in moderate amounts it is usually OK. I use it and I also take an antihistamine.

Do you take these on a daily basis. Medrol is hardcore. What does your doctor say about medrol during pregnancy. I assume you mean albuterol in the nebulizer. I've taken that during pregnancy...but that's when my asthma's been out of control. Sound like the meds you are taking are "short-term". albuterol inhalers ARE prescribed to be used before exercising in exercise induced asthma.

I was just wondering if anyone knows about asthma treatment during pregnancy. I am a 24 yr old who is looking to get pregnant and have come off my advair and singlair but am now taking my albuterol MDI several times a day. I don't know if there is something other than the advair that I can take or If I should just go back on it.
