albuterol mdi

Is there a significant difference between using an albuterol inhaler as opposed to a Combivent inhaler? I have a family member that receives an extra monthly Combivent inhaler but am not sure if it is safe to use long term instead of the albuterol I was prescribed.

I have the same thing going but I have an Albuterol inhaler and only when i wake up my voice is like a whisper and then i cough but whenever I take a shower it will go away and that's possibly because I take very hot showers and so when the hot water hits it i guess it just goes away. Perhaps you could request a MDI/inhaler/puffer for the wheezing/coughing. I have had the same problems as you off and on and find the inhaler helps. I use it once/day and it works like a charm. When the wheezing/coughing subsides, I stop using it.

Hi everyone... I was just wondering if anyone knows about asthma treatment during pregnancy. I am a 24 yr old who is looking to get pregnant and have come off my advair and singlair but am now taking my albuterol MDI several times a day. I don't know if there is something other than the advair that I can take or If I should just go back on it.

I was on MDI for 5 years, then the pupm for 2 years and I asked to go back to MDI, it's been 3 years. Results are similar good, pain was hirgher so was financial cost. I fell more freedom with MDI.

Really hard to say which will work better. Since like punk others prefer mdi. However it week be very valuable if you can get him a cgm (continuous glucose minitoring).

Does she take inhaled steroids daily? I was unable to use an MDI when I was sick and had to switch to nebbed pulmacort. That with the constant albuterol helped a lot. She may need to switch to a nebbed ICS while she is sick. Praying for you and her.

Separate dosing of Lantus (long acting) and Humalog (short acting) where you inject each insulin separately (also called MDI for multi daily injections) is much more flexible. You test and adjust your basal insulin (lantus), then you dose your fast acting for each meal based on how much food / carbs/ protein you eat. You can also use your Humalog to correct for high blood sugars. Mixed insulin cannot be used to correct high blood sugars.

Dear Doc, Im 34 years old male. HPT since 2004 on Perindopril 6mg (ACE Inhibitors). Last January i have palpitations. ECG shown Probable LVH. I haven't done my Echo yet. Back then with ACE inhibitor my BP were not well controlled. So the Dr. change it to ARB Co-Approvel. I check my BP 3 times a day since February. My BP now are well controlled ranging from 105/66 - 136/85mmHg but usually its <130/90mmHg.

You could ask your dr about Humalin-N and Humalin-R, which tend to be cheaper. But these are not available as mixed insulins and need to be taken as MDI (Humlin-N, twice a day, and humlin R- abouy 30 minutes before eating). To Reduce insulin requirements, you can follow a low carb diet, reduce weight (if overweight), and add in daily exercise. Are you sure she had a reaction to albuterol? I can easily see the steroid as the culprit, but albuterol surprises me. Of course, if you overuse it you will get a fast heart beat, but in moderate amounts it is usually OK. I use it and I also take an antihistamine.

I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.

Hi, Asthma cannot worsen angina but over use of inhaler albuterol can lead to low potassium levels in the blood, which in turn can cause palpitations, arrhythmias, irregular beats etc. So if you are experiencing frequent attacks of asthma, you should try to prevent triggering agents which cause asthma and also get evaluated by a pulmonologist for correction of dose of polemicist for preventing further attacks of asthma.
