Albuterol effects on heart

Common Questions and Answers about Albuterol effects on heart

Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, these drugs like Albuterol and fluticasone do not interfere much with the cardiac activity. Albuterol predominantly acts on respiratory bronchioles but has a little action over heart. Hence, it should be cautiously used in him; these may cause elevation in blood pressure, heart rate and result in CNS stimulation/excitation. Albuterol may also increase risk of arrhythmias. Such effects are quiet negligible when given by inhalational route.
587778 tn?1261397118 Are you sure she had a reaction to albuterol? I can easily see the steroid as the culprit, but albuterol surprises me. Of course, if you overuse it you will get a fast heart beat, but in moderate amounts it is usually OK. I use it and I also take an antihistamine.
Avatar f tn combivent also known as albuterol has ingredients in it such as steroids that can definately aggrevate the rhythm of your heart and is actually one of the side effects. I was on albuterol a couple of years ago for bronchitis and the second time i used the inhaler my heart started really acting up...my family doc is the one who prescribed it...i called my heart doc and he told me not to use it and call back the family doc to give me an inhaler that was steroid free....
1047019 tn?1256719961 I'm assuming you are referring to a rescue (Albuterol) inhaler. I agree with Victoireh...why would you want to use an inhaler if you don't have asthma? There are no mood altering effects from it whatsoever...if you use it in prescribed doses, it makes you nervous, get hand tremors and maybe a headache. And if you use excessive amounts, which I did when I was first diagnosed with asthma and was only given an Albuterol inhaler, it will make you feel awful...
Avatar f tn I also took steroids for 5 days. The last time i used the albuterol was on sat. I cant do it anymore. I have had palpitations that will not go away! They do not feel fast, they are slow, and almost like my heart misses quite a few beats. This is non stop. I dont know what to do. I am a smoker and also have panic attacks so u know..I am freakin out! Can anyone tell me if this is a normal side effect and what can i do to make it go away. Thank you so much...
Avatar f tn The funny thing is that on my medication (it is albuterol) it says that chest pains and drowsiness ARE side effects so im not so much worried about that. it's just the over whelming sensationg that i have to burp that im worried about because it is extremely uncomfortable. I also am using my inhaler correctly. i know this for a fact because my doctor showed me how to use it and watched me do it, and said it was correct.
757137 tn?1347196453 This is used as an alternative to Albuterol if the side effects are severe with Albuterol. This could also be used in conjunction with Albuterol, to relieve acute flare ups of Asthma. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn He took the medication every night before bed for about a week, until he came to me one night very worried about his heart beating fast (Albuterol side effects). I stopped the medication since then. Now, I'm noticing my son exhaling like a puppy-dog. It first started with just one quick exhale of air. The next couple of days he would make 2 quick exhales. Then now he exhales like that about 4-7 times, like how a puppy-dog breathes!
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I need clarification on one point. When you say Advair and Albuterol can cause adverse cardiovascular effects, do you mean both of them can cause adverse effects (either/or) or the two used together can cause adverse effects?
1425157 tn?1311651679 )I recently developed a mild asthma thing from a bad cold and doc put me on advair but sometimes when i take it i feel my heart beating really forcefully a little fast and feel anxious--i read advair can cause this but i dunno---anyone else know anything about this???
746512 tn?1388807580 I was just wondering if anyone here gets side effects from taking albuterol. I have only had the inhaler for about 2 weeks and notice very painful calf muscle cramps that occur a couple hours after taking the inhaler (suppose to pre-treat for a lecture hall that really bugs me). They seem to be getting worse with every dose (only noticed the last couple of times of using it), today my legs are still very sore and crampy and I took the dose 10 hours ago.
Avatar n tn Administering the medications separately maximizes the therapeutic potenial while minimizing the side effects. The albuterol opens op the passageways. The ipratropium then enters these passageways for a longer effect. Then the steroid enters for the longest effect. The Pulmacort should be taken a few minutes afterwards.
Avatar m tn My 20 month old son has asthma. He is on twice a day nebulizer of budesodine. I think it is very similar to pulmocort. He has developed a very red rash in the exact area of the mask. I am trying to get him off the mask and to the pipe but it has been difficult. He has been treated with many things from hydrocortisone to various antibiotic creams, ointments, and currently erythromycin gel. The gel is mainly alcohol and really burns his face. Does anyone have any ideas of how to help?
Avatar n tn Is there a significant difference between using an albuterol inhaler as opposed to a Combivent inhaler? I have a family member that receives an extra monthly Combivent inhaler but am not sure if it is safe to use long term instead of the albuterol I was prescribed.
Avatar n tn Steroids can also cause adrenal fatigue, especially with long-term use. I have sworn off all steroids, having suffered the worst of their side effects. I take albuterol and antihistamines and, in the place of steroids, take natural anti-inflammatories which safe, cheap, and more effective than steroids. But, hey, the drug companies can't make any money on them.
718416 tn?1259680550 Does anyone know whether long term acting beta agonists or cortisteroids are safer long term? What is safer on the heart? Also does xanax counter effect the high blood pressure etc. associated with asthma medicines?
Avatar f tn Albuterol can cause your heart to speed up after your take it which can cause some of the symptoms you are feeling if this is happening after you have a treatment. If not associated with the albuterol, there is a couple possible causes. In most cases, palpitations in young people are due to extra heart beats like premature ventricular or atrial contractions which are generally benign and just variations of normal.
1987536 tn?1337916244 Albuterol doesn't bother me as much as advair after reading bunches of articles :(
Avatar f tn I read up a little on terbutaline and those side effects are not uncommon either. But if they persist or get worse each time you use the inhaler, you are supposed to contact your doctor. 112 bpm isn't all that fast. Your heart rate probably goes higher than that if you run across the street.
435139 tn?1255460391 I am allergic to singular and I have been taking albuterol as my medication. I used to take Beclovent and the albuterol about 10 years ago but then went to albuterol only and it has seemed to do the trick until now. I'm looking for experiences with mucomyst if anyone has used it. I am all wheezy but my cough just isn't as productive as I'd like it to be...any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well!
Avatar f tn No where does the company mention any of these side effects for albuterol. Being a healthcare professional i was already thinking the worst. If you get this message please respond. I need to know these tics will go away. I am very much into homepathic treatment at home so i have started giving her extra calcium magnesium and b vitamins. It definetely subsides but takes a week or so to fully go away.
