Albuterol dosage for 2 year old

Common Questions and Answers about Albuterol dosage for 2 year old

advair

Avatar n tn Generally a prescription is out of date if it is over a year old. If it cam in an original manufactures package, you can go by the date on that. I wouldn't risk using this kind of medication after expiration. Medications either lose their ability to work or become stronger. In this case, you really need it to work. If it has become stronger, the cardiac side effects could be too much for you to handle. I think this would be a dangerous drug to use out of date.
Avatar f tn Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus. Albuterol (qid) Combivent (BID) combined treatment resolved shortness of breath finally so dropped albuterol and combivent... but cough still persists. Follow up again with Pulm increased dosage of Flovent to 110. Sorry so detailed, just wanted to convey that we have tried MANY approaches. He is still coughing. Albeit less frequently on some days, but still very bronchial cough. Wet, non productive. No drainage and No fevers EVER.
215461 tn?1331862765 I am hesitant to start him on a daily steroid when he only has an issue once or twice a year (this year was twice... very bad year). I am doing the peak flow with him at home and it is always the same reading (not a good one), but he is not doing it right here either. He is using a very low effort. I wonder how likely it is for that test to have been inaccurate?
Avatar f tn She has some test at cardiologist and then they were going to monitor her heart for 30 days at which time the heart pounding subsided for about 2 years She is now going through an aweful ordeal When the drs take her pulse ox it is at 98 or 100 percent and yet she feels as though she can't breath .
Avatar f tn Thank you for your input, what exactly is AS? My one inhaler i use Albuterol 2 puffs every 4 hours and my dulera is 2 puffs every 12 hours. Albuterol makes me shaky for hours,I hate the way it makes me feel.
587778 tn?1261397118 Hi. 3 weeks ago my 16 year old daughter had a bad reaction to the fumes that her art supplies produced. She was treated for asthma in the ER and sent home with an albuterol inhaler and prednisone. Within a few days, she was hospitalized due to a severe reaction to the prednisone and albuterol. She will never be able to take any medication with a steroid. Since then, she has had exercise and cold induced attacks.
Avatar f tn I wrote in to this website when my son was 4 years old and started with transient motor tics, right after having two back-to-back illnesses (with a high temperature) and also after being treated with albuterol for severe asthma. His tics have not been as bad as they were the first time he started having them, but are still present at times. He is also growing out of asthma.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with asthma today. This go around it started a couple of days ago with coughing at nighttime then started coughing when outside in the cool air. Last night the wheezing starting and then coughing and more wheezing this morning. He wouldn't eat, was coughing so much he vomited, and was very lethargic so I rushed him to the pediatrician. After 2 breathing treatments and a steroid shot, the doctor diagnosed him with asthma.
Avatar n tn We have been dealing with a chronic daytime cough with our 8year old son for a year now, it sounds exactly like you describe your sons condition. We have seen numerous doctors as well and no one can figure it out. He is currently on Flovent, nasonex, claritin and because of a recent sinus infection Keflex. Nothing is helping.
678431 tn?1227554311 I use Albuterol Inhalers for my asthma and I've been recently having some trouble with 'em. My mom and I share the same dosages, which I find really weird since I just merely have asthma and she has emphysema as well. But, I've brought that to the attention of m doctor but she still said I needed the same dosage. Plus, it makes me really jittery and shaky.
Avatar f tn They could write you a prescription for albuterol treatments at home if they feel it is necessary. It is possible that this is the flu, and the flu this year is pretty nasty. Make sure your daughter is drinking plenty of fluids. If she is older than 1-2 years old you could also try a teaspoon of honey- this can help with the coughing. Good luck- I hope you are both better soon.
Avatar n tn I gave a lot of thought before posting again, because I am sure you are the greastest mom and would never want to endanger your children. This post IS NOT a criticism, or an attempt to make you feel badly. Albuterol is a "last ditch" emergency medication. When you reach for the albuterol you are "reaching for lung reserve". Once that albuterol is ingested, the lung has no more reserve.
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son acquired severe RSV at 6 weeks old. Ever since then he now has virally induced asthma. So he's been hospitalized a few times with bronchiolitis when he was 1 years old. The typical treatment has been 2ce a day pulmicort and 3xs a day to every 4 hours of albuterol. If that didn't work they would add predisone and sometimes zithromax. And those combos knocked it out. Well he now has 3 weeks of a rattling cough that just doesn't go away.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have been like this now for 2 months it seems to get better than last night it was not bad but woke me up at 1 could not sleep for coughing and wheezing and scared i was going have a bad attack and die from it , so i need the inhaler just to scared to take it. so are these ok or will the xop cause the heart speed. thank you so much.

Avatar f tn You should ask the Pediatrician to give you a prescription for a Nebulizer with Albuterol. It will help strengthen his lungs and help him expel any fluid that could be accumulating. This is what I requested for my son and it truly helped get rid of his cough completely.
