Avatar n tn I have some questions regarding testing. I posted here before and received some hope, but now I have a red area that is bothering me. It is itchy, tingly, and seems to be getting more painful. I have an appointment to get it checked out tomorrow morning. I was wondering about the swab testing. Is it accurate as far as false negatives are concerned? Also, since the appt. is in the morning, should I not shower before?
Avatar m tn your posts seem to be about testing times? my questions are...what was your exposure? have you tested? when?

Avatar m tn As of November 2009, 23,731 HIV/AIDS cases have been reported in the country (National HIV/AIDS Program of the Ministry of Health). The Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) estimates that in 2007, 35,000 Salvadorans were living with HIV (UNAIDS 2008 Report on the Global AIDS Epidemic). Incidence appears to have declined since 2004, but there is a fear that HIV/AIDS cases are underreported due to lack of an effective monitoring system.
Avatar m tn You had no HIV risk. You had protected sex no risk. You would of known for sure if your condom failed. Fingering no risk. Keep useing condoms and always be safe. No worries at all.

Avatar m tn Your infection begins to develop into AIDS. AIDS is a condition that is caused by the HIV virus. It refers to the substantial destruction of the immune system and subsequent infections that are able to attack the body as a result of this. Semantics aside, it is possible someone does not know they are infected until they have developed into AIDS. 3) No it would not. You need to undergo an HIV test to catch the infection.

Avatar n tn You have been asking variations on these same anxiety-driven questions on the HIV community forum and one on the STD forum a month ago. The answers you received are reliable. You don't have HIV. ARS symptoms generally resolve within a month or so. Prolonged diarrhea can occur with overt AIDS; it rarely occurs with ARS. The test result is for antibody only. Two assays were done, one qualitative and one quantitative (numerical) and both were negative.
Avatar f tn I just found out about 12 years ago my mate was unfaithful and i have gotten tested recently with an third generation eia antibody test hiv1/2 with reflexes, a rapid blood test, 4 oraquick home tests and all came back negative. But ive read ur post that some people with aids antibodies wont show on those tests. Im very scared that im in that stage and the tests i took arent sufficient enough to know for sure.

Avatar m tn Hello doctor, I have some questions for you as i am a bit troubled by the answers that i have got from the relative agencies. Sorry about my bad english but it is not my native language. I had several sexual encounters the last months as i was in some recreational trips. The 2 first where with a prostitutes, and where all protected exept a moment where one of the prostitutes spitted on my penis and then she proceeded giving me oral with condom.
Avatar n tn s the case here. You may continue to post such questions if you wish, as long as you adhere to the rule about a maximum of 2 questions every 6 months on MedHelp's professionally moderated forums. But I have to question your judgment in doing so. As for your other questions, the answers are obvious-- or you could have found them easily by simply scanning a few threads. To start, there is little or no risk from receving oral sex.
Avatar m tn How likely is it that my test at 3-4 months was a false negative? Is there a difference between HIV and AIDS testing? Could my doctor have tested me for AIDS and not HIV? Would that mean that just because I'm not AIDS positive that I could be HIV positive? Am I displaying symptoms of HIV? I live in California by the way. Is there any hope that I don't have HIV?!

If you would like to know whether you have had a risk for HIV, or when to test, please post those questions here. Our members are not able to assess whether you have PCP and if so, why.
