um I was with my bf for like a year anyways he left me about a month ago he just left didnt tell me he was leaving I think he may have hiv or aids and has infected me ive been feeling sick for a while off and on but I have not been tested in about a year anyways ive got this rly bad cough and sometimes I feel like its hard to breathe it been like tht for a couple weeks now I dont have insurance and ive been too much of a coward to go to the hospital because im by myself I cnt tell my family...
As blood was extracted they were accidentally pricked with the needle of a patient who has the aids virus. PEP was used minutes after and the friend has confided in me. I dont know what to say as they are so loving and caring to patients now they are fearful. I dont work in that field and dont know what to say while they await results. I can see the fear in my friends eyes, please help me walk them through this as we remain hopeful.
Anyone with a few hours of training would be qualified to administer the tests. There are testing centers like that all over the country that cater to at-risk people and it is not unusual that a thrift store in Hollywood that apparently caters to gay people would offer rapid testing. I see no reason why you should be concerned.

I just found out about 12 years ago my mate was unfaithful and i have gotten tested recently with an third generation eia antibody test hiv1/2 with reflexes, a rapid blood test, 4 oraquick home tests and all came back negative. But ive read ur post that some people with aids antibodies wont show on those tests. Im very scared that im in that stage and the tests i took arent sufficient enough to know for sure.

I spoke with a person from the MA AIDS hotline about the 6 week vs 3 month window. He was very helpful and said that the had not been any reported cases of a healthy person testing positive after a 6 week test. I have had 2 negative Oraquick Advance tests at 5 and 6 weeks and a negative blood test from the Dr at 6 weeks. He said that in MA that those results would be all the tests I should need to believe I am really negative.
You have HIV specialist Doctors on here telling people 4 weeks depending on the risk is ok and you could live with that---and then you guys over here telling people that 4 weeks is ****---well I trust someone who is actually doing the test on me to give me the right info----I am done with this site. Test results always are more reliable than symptoms in judging whether someone has HIV, because the symptoms of HIV are highly variable. Even the classical and highly typical symptoms of HIV or AIDS are more commonly caused by other conditions. And you don't have such symptoms anyway. Mouth ulcers can occur in people with HIV, but only in those with advanced disease, i.e.
