Avatar n tn As blood was extracted they were accidentally pricked with the needle of a patient who has the aids virus. PEP was used minutes after and the friend has confided in me. I dont know what to say as they are so loving and caring to patients now they are fearful. I dont work in that field and dont know what to say while they await results. I can see the fear in my friends eyes, please help me walk them through this as we remain hopeful.
Avatar m tn 3/ My information about the clinic is it is one of HIV/AIDS Prevention centers of Ministry of Public Health, VietNam. So Do you know which methods they are using?
Avatar f tn One thing I want to emphasize to everyone is the the importance of a good audiologist. You may get cheap aids, or even good aids, but without a good audiologist to program them, they may not help. Another thing to think about are surgical options.
Avatar f tn Anyone with a few hours of training would be qualified to administer the tests. There are testing centers like that all over the country that cater to at-risk people and it is not unusual that a thrift store in Hollywood that apparently caters to gay people would offer rapid testing. I see no reason why you should be concerned.

1475202 tn?1536270977 The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued an alert today that people born between 1945 and 1965 should be tested for Hepatitis C. Please see the link below. If it doesn't work it's one of the headlines on MSNBC. Hepatitis C is a leading cause of liver cancer and liver disease. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/48691720/ns/health-infectious_diseases/?__utma=14933801.2056623841.1345157326.1345157326.1345157326.1&__utmb=14933801.1.10.
Avatar m tn You can go online and find local resource centers near you that do free testing on certain days of the week or month. I would start with your local AIDS Community Service organization. But to tell you the truth, based on your info, the test is a waste of time, you were not at risk.
Avatar f tn I just found out about 12 years ago my mate was unfaithful and i have gotten tested recently with an third generation eia antibody test hiv1/2 with reflexes, a rapid blood test, 4 oraquick home tests and all came back negative. But ive read ur post that some people with aids antibodies wont show on those tests. Im very scared that im in that stage and the tests i took arent sufficient enough to know for sure.
Avatar n tn more bad news for condoms Doctors speak out about condom failures! Many leading health experts have warned against depending on condoms for protection against AIDS and other STDs. Here’s a sampling of their comments: # "You just can’t tell people it’s all right to do whatever you want as long as you wear a condom. It (AIDS) is just too dangerous a disease to say that." Quote from: ¾ Dr.
Avatar f tn My son had tubes placed following 4+ months of fluid after OM at age 3.5. Hearing/health returned to normal. Very concise and articulate language skills from an early age. 6 months later hearing loss recurred with long-term congestion and softening speech. ENT confirmed tubes had fallen out and should be replaced with long-term (T) tubes and adenoidectomy. This was done in January 09 with immediate recovery in health, breathing, congestion, etc.. Hearing, however seemed to worsen dramatically.
Avatar m tn I spoke with a person from the MA AIDS hotline about the 6 week vs 3 month window. He was very helpful and said that the had not been any reported cases of a healthy person testing positive after a 6 week test. I have had 2 negative Oraquick Advance tests at 5 and 6 weeks and a negative blood test from the Dr at 6 weeks. He said that in MA that those results would be all the tests I should need to believe I am really negative.
Avatar n tn You have HIV specialist Doctors on here telling people 4 weeks depending on the risk is ok and you could live with that---and then you guys over here telling people that 4 weeks is ****---well I trust someone who is actually doing the test on me to give me the right info----I am done with this site. AIDSMEDS is fantastic--this place create anxiety!
Avatar m tn Test results always are more reliable than symptoms in judging whether someone has HIV, because the symptoms of HIV are highly variable. Even the classical and highly typical symptoms of HIV or AIDS are more commonly caused by other conditions. And you don't have such symptoms anyway. Mouth ulcers can occur in people with HIV, but only in those with advanced disease, i.e.
Avatar m tn This subject is discussed here ad nauseum. Anyone is free to decide for themselves when they feel comfortable testing. ON THIS FORUM, we adhere to the official guidelines, the doctors take a more liberal stance. Dr. HHH often posts a few links to posts he's made that explains in detail about testing protocols, and why they give the advice THEY do, and why we give the advice we do. They are a good read.
