Avatar m tn i know you cant get hiv from french kissing but wondering if you can get a opportunistic infections from kissing her?
Avatar n tn Almost everybody with OHL is obviously ill with numerous symptoms and most have had other obvious opportunistic diseases, like pneumocystis pneumonia, Kaposi sarcoma, etc. Most self-diagnosed OHL is something else. Coated tongue is normal in everybody from time to time, or can occur with various minor viral infections and probably even variations in diet. And even if you have real OHL, it is not something that necessarily means HIV. There are other causes.
Avatar m tn Incase of a HIV infection how long does it take for the other opportunistic diseases to appear? What is the earliest window? Can a person get Pneumonia within 45 days?
Avatar m tn Oral infections related to HIV (like opportunistic infections) occur late in infection, usually after a person has transitioned to an AIDS diagnosis.
Avatar m tn It has nothing to do with AIDS except that a person with AIDS has a damaged immune system and can catch anything easier.
Avatar m tn m questioning had AIDS would I have contracted AIDS and not HIV and do I need to test for AIDS? Please help me out! Thank you!
Avatar m tn you have or catch HSV, of either type -- I doubt it would be a problem as an opportunistic infection. Even in people with profound immunodeficiency, e.g. overt AIDS, terminal cancer with potent chemotherapy, etc, HSV rarely causes important opportunistic infections. Certain other herpes group infections, especially cytomegalovirus and varicella zoster virus, often do so -- but HSV only rarely. So I really don't see this as a serious worry for you.
Avatar f tn But does TB automatically imply AIDS? as it was listed in opportunistic infections people with HIV and AIDS get! What if I was infected with HIV as a child?! Would the test I took today still be able to detect an old HIV infection from like 25 years ago? I took a combo hiv test.

Avatar n tn Toxoplasmosis is an AIDS-defining opportunistic infection and in most cases shows symptoms only in people with compromised immune systems. I think that was the poster's point, however badly expressed.
Avatar m tn If he is HIV positive and has TB which is an Opportunistic Infection more than likely he does have AIDS. If he takes his meds religiously and doesn't miss his doses he will more than likely live a full life span.
Avatar f tn Just had an inquiry about cat weight loss and if it associated with diseases? I have concerns and have heard of feline Aids. What would be the normal costs or causes or fees for a test in my region? she is fixed sinc eshe was 6mos old. Will need some symptoms or further advice. she's a petite female. Avatar n tn This is a reprint from another site that I found for you: The first symptoms of HIV infection can resemble symptoms of common cold or flu viruses. The symptoms of early infection can also be similar to the symptoms of other sexually transmitted diseases and other infections such as "mono" or hepatitis, which are much more commonly and more easily transmitted. Stress and anxiety can also produce symptoms in some people, even though they do not have HIV.
Avatar f tn This virus by itself may not cause the disorder, and it may depend on other co-infections, similar to HIV-1 and HIV/AIDS. The XMRV virus may affect the immune system, resulting in opportunistic infections that actually cause the CFS morbidity, but it is too soon to know about this. The one commercial lab that I have personal knowledge of (VIP Labs of Reno, NV) currently tests for XMRV.
Avatar n tn Has nothing to do with HIV and it's not an opportunistic infections and you don't get them until you have AIDS.
Avatar m tn I'm HIV+ and have been for over 25 years. I've never had any opportunistic infections and never been sick from HIV/Aids, outside the common cold/flu. I'm a healthy long term surviver. I now have HCV genotype 3. All the Dr's are telling me that since I have genotype 3 It requires a 6 month treatments. Now a couple pharmacologists say that since I'm co-infected regardless of my genotype, it's 11 months treatment.
Avatar n tn After the first month I had a couple of tests done that came back negative. Im very anxious that I have been infected with sexual diseases. I have been very stupid in my behaviour, i am a young guy and have learnt my lesson. What is the chances of me being infected with STD's or HIV/Aids. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Because HIV is the causative agent of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), ICL can be referred to as Non-HIV AIDS. As in AIDS patients, Non-HIV AIDS patients exhibit reduced numbers of CD4+ T-lymphocytes, and many Non-HIV AIDS patients have developed the opportunistic infections or otherwise rare cancers associated with AIDS. Non-HIV AIDS patients may comprise perhaps one percent of all AIDS patients.
Avatar n tn In addition, consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including diseases transmitted by genital secretions, and to a lesser degree, genital ulcer diseases. Condom use may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated diseases, e.g., genital warts and cervical cancer.
Avatar f tn Candida albicans is a diploid fungus (a form of yeast) and a causal agent of opportunistic oral and genital infections in humans.[3][4] Systemic fungal infections (fungemias) have emerged as important causes of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients (e.g., AIDS, cancer chemotherapy, organ or bone marrow transplantation). In addition, hospital-related infections in patients not previously considered at risk (e.g.
Avatar n tn now i am getting bacterial throat infecetions - i had one in may, and another now in july....i am worried that these could be early opportunistic infections...does this make any sense? i had stopped worrying about them as i thought there had been no risk.
Avatar n tn I have no symptoms of lymes or aids. So what do you think is going on. what are the chances I actually have HIV-2 considering it is so rare. The Elisa stated I was "repeatedly reactive," on two seperate occassions, but again the western blot was negative.
