Avatar f tn My surgeon always recommended Danzen and Olfen both for inflammation and pain. I usually decide on my own seeing the condition of the abscess if i want to take them. You can put a search for these two meds. I guess they aren't very harsh on the stomach or no mood swings either. You may wanna ask your doctor too about these medicines considering the fact that everybody's condition is different. I've not yet opted for Steroids either.
Avatar m tn btw, no sign of bacteria or ulcers. I was talking advil for a week prior to the stomach inflammation. My dr. say I was probably on the borderline prior to taking the advil. I am also feeling nausea at times. any input would be appreciated. thanks.
Avatar f tn Aleve and Advil are both considered NsAIDs and both help with pain and inflammation. I can't remember the numbers on what not to exceed. Both need to be taken with food and if you take regularly, your doctor will tell you what to take to protect your stomach, some are OTC and others are prescription (I take prescription strength Prilosec.) Tylenol works on pain but not inflammation. It is easier on your stomach except for weirdo me ... it gives me terrible nausea.
Avatar f tn Hi all, About 2 months ago I started having shoulder and arm pain. Hurt from shoulder down to wrist. Now it's extending into neck. I don't have insurance till Sept. when Medicare kicks in. I did pay to go to doc's and he said bursitis and gave me etodolac (an NSAID). Well, have taken for a few days and it's doing nothing. My Advil PM works better. I think it might be an impingement problem. does any 1 have any suggestions until my insurance kicks in.
Avatar m tn Just a basic pain killer should help while you're waiting f
Avatar f tn I think that it is better is a good sign. I'm glad you went to the doctor about it previously. It's my understanding that pericarditis is typically mild in general. It's good you had an EKG which is one of the diagnostic tests that detect it. Even when mild. But, of course, tests are not infallible. There are other tests they sometimes do such as X rays, echocardiogram, MRI, etc.
Avatar f tn Hello. I was just wondering if it was safe to take one 200mg advil for inflammation at 7 weeks pregnant? If not, what CAN i take besides tylenol? Dont see OB for 2 more weeks and need some relief. Please help!
Avatar n tn My two daughters take Celebrex as a person would take Advil here or there and do fine with it .. they both cannot take ibuprofen. My son cannot take it since birth as he gets bad reflux from in .. They make custom made ibuprofen suppositories if you really need a NSAID but cannot do it by mouth and they are wonderful .. you need a compounding pharmacy but my co pay was only $8.00!
Avatar f tn Costochondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum. I have heard many fibromyalgia sufferers complain about this. Some people find relief with Ibuprofen like Aleve, or Advil. I personally have this and it flares up from time to time. I'll take something like Aleve and rest if possible. You can google the condition on line and see if this is what you have.
Avatar n tn Other than that it could also be costochondritis, pleuritis (inflammation of covering of lung) or pericarditis (inflammation of covering of heart). Since you do not mention any other symptoms, it is less likely to be any of these. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn I've been taking Tylenol for this back pain during treatment. It's just not cutting it this weekend. Does anyone know if it's okay to take an Advil while on treatment? I'm on Peg/Riba/Victrelis. Thanks.
483733 tn?1326798446 I finally had an MRI after insisting on it and being sent to many different doctors with all just prescribing advil and other pain killers. As with Trudie, they found tendonosis and two torn tendons. I will update later, but for now I will be getting cortozone injections along with physical therapy to see if it resolves the one arm. Until then, I still have the other arm and neck pain… Careful with advil.
Avatar f tn Unless you have some pre-existing heart condition, the most likely cause of your trouble is an inflammation of the cartilige around/in between the ribs. It is called costochodritis and it can be very painful, but isn't serious. Advil or other NSAIDs should help with the pain.
Avatar m tn old male of late I have noticed pain in my left arm and and a loss of strength. my right arm is firm and as strong as ever the left is getting soft and painfull . Iwork out and try to take care of myself. what and why.???
Avatar f tn As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches, fevers, muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches, pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...
Avatar f tn No you can't take advil.
Avatar n tn We just found out yesterday I am expecting and figure im about 5 weeks. I have terrible headaches but I am allergic to tylenol, I have always just puked it up. Is there anything else I can take at this point?
Avatar n tn Earlier I Was In Extreme Pain Due To A Tooth Ache I Took Advil Because I Tried Tylenol Earlier In The Day && It Did Nothing Could Me Taking Advil Hurt My Baby I'm 28 Weeks Already!
Avatar f tn I have a root infection lower left tooth, was put on clindamycin 150 mg every six hours and told to take Advil for inflammation. The tooth is still very painful, have been on it for 3 days and they scheduled me for a root canal in 3 1/2 weeks time. Is this normal?
5792451 tn?1390934690 Dairy is probably the biggest trigger of inflammation in the gut, and you need to reduce inflammation. Look up detoxing and see if you can find some supplements or foods that you can take/eat to help your body detox. You might be surprised and how much they can help. It can take days or up to a month to notice a difference. Amoxicillin is pretty good for early stage Lyme, but you'll need another drug to go with it, or a more powerful drug at some point.
358971 tn?1330888975 Yea, her baby will be fine. they say to take it easy on the IBPROFEN and ADVIL during 1st and 3rd trimesters. but occasionally for a headache is ok. I take 400mg. probably 1X a week for inflammation on my legs. it works fine. and I've done this since my BFP.. no problems so far, but I won't be taking it in 3rd trimester.
1049259 tn?1295088478 It sounds like an allergic reaction. An immune response is inflammation. Take 2 Advil OR elderberry extract to reduce inflammation. The elderberry extract is also anti viral/bacterial. Since you have a fever it may be viral If it were me that’s what I would do. If it worsens I'd go see a doctor. Nyquil will also ease the inflammation but it won’t reduce any possible infection. Make sure you are getting enough vitamin D. The flu this year is extremely catchy.
1182699 tn?1297574784 s, I will take an advil and I usually start feeling better. I mentioned this to my PCP once and he said Ibuprofen has many effects on the body, it's not just a fever reducer/pain reliever so it very well could be effecting the heart. It makes me wonder if it has anything to do with blood pressure (although mine is usually very low 90/60). Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn The advil/tylenol flip-flop is when you would take advil, then a few hours later, take tylenol, and then advil, then tylenol - all overlapping doses. this keeps a steady does of them in your system, without the risk of overdosing on either.
