Avatar f tn During all of this i also stopped my progesterone only birth control after about a month and a half and have to take advil for bad menstrual cramps which just makes my stomach pain worse (i usually take 8-12 advil a day to control the pain, but even one advil will cause indigestion and stomach pain for me, but i have no help from doctors on this issue so i am stuck:() i was wondering if this could be hormone related? Just a bad IBS flare?
Avatar m tn I too have had the same symptoms been hospitalized 3 times with it and finally told IBS .I don;t agree with that diagnosis and I agree that they apply IBS for I don't know what it is .My surgeon just threw his hands up and said IBS .I went through all the testing and at first they thought it was Chron's and that is what I still think it is but they said they found no evidence of it .I understand how frustrating it can be when you can't get a clear diagnosis .
Avatar m tn Hi...have u ever been told u might have IBS?...Do u drink plenty of water and eat fiber?...... R u on meds for GERD?
Avatar m tn Among them are aspirin and non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) like Advil and Naproxen. Steroids (cortisone), radiation treatments and chemotherapy drugs can also be quite harmful. Once a person’s intestinal lining is riddled with microscopic holes, he or she can develop allergies to a variety of foods. This is especially true of everyday foods. Of course some products are more likely to cause allergies than others.
Avatar f tn advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma
Avatar f tn As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches, fevers, muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches, pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...
Avatar f tn No you can't take advil.
Avatar n tn We just found out yesterday I am expecting and figure im about 5 weeks. I have terrible headaches but I am allergic to tylenol, I have always just puked it up. Is there anything else I can take at this point?
Avatar n tn Earlier I Was In Extreme Pain Due To A Tooth Ache I Took Advil Because I Tried Tylenol Earlier In The Day && It Did Nothing Could Me Taking Advil Hurt My Baby I'm 28 Weeks Already!
Avatar f tn What, if anything can I take for a headache? I've read far too many mixed reviews. I have advil and ibuprofen here, just don't Wana take anything besides my pre natals, too nerve wracking!
Avatar m tn Can you take meloxicam and later a couple of Advil? I was prescribed meloxicam for my arthritis and it does not always help me..
1051752 tn?1253833456 Imitrex on the other hand is migraine medication and will stop a migraine. Advil is not migraine medication and can cause problems by making headaches worse. Imitrex is migraine medication that is specifically for migraine and it will stop a migraine. Most migraines do not come with aura. Take that into consideration when you get a headache that feels exactly like your regular migraine just without an aura. That means you are having a migraine. You don't need an aura to have a migraine.
Avatar f tn I ALWAYS have to take medicine and take it easy for a few days during my period. I usually take Advil the day before my expected period because they say that it works better if you take it before the pain starts. It does for me. Here is my problem: My husband and I are always dreaming and hoping for a baby. Is it a good idea to take Advil the day before my expected period when there is a chance I could be pregnant?
Avatar f tn My period has not came yet. I have the dull pain on lower left abdomen since 9/12 and still going now. Advil or Tylenol don't help much. One GP from urgent care thinks I have IBS. But my stool is good. OBGNY doctor thinks may be the scar tissue(s) from 2014 I fixed my tiled uterus by Laparoscopy. But, I didn't experience any abdominal pain ( upper or lower) after my surgery since 2014 till I had a miscarriage this year.
Avatar f tn I've always had really difficult periods. I get severe cramps that don't respond to normal doses of naproxen or ibuprofen. It's only if I take 4 Advils that the pain lessens, but that upsets my stomach and digestive system (I have IBS). I've tried exercise and taking pain meds before my period starts but that doesn't seem to be helping either, and I don't know what else can be done.
Avatar f tn All came back normal, yet she has had the pain consistently for over a month. The pulmonologist thought it might be neuromuscular, and simply said take Advil and let me know how it goes. My daughter is a dance major in college, and when they did they blood test they said that her potassium was very low. I know that she does not drink very much water during the day, she eats almost no fruits or vegetables and drinks a lot of tea, not herbal. Could low potassium cause these kinds of pain?
Avatar f tn s a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory like Nuprin and Advil). Women swear by it for period cramping. Even Nuprin and Advil are a lot better for period pain than aspirin or acetaminiphin, because they are anti-prostaglandins and relieve the tendency for the muscles to clench. It can make a huge difference. Please do see an ob/gyn and see if these things can be tried. If they ignore the connection between IBS and your periods making you sick, don't insist, but do insist on an abdominal MRI.
Avatar m tn I take percocet for pain, valuim for anxiety and was taking 30-50 advil a day. I have been to 2 mayo clinics and have never been tested for H.Pylori. Never even heard of it until a few days ago. I have researched all my symptoms on line for years looking for what could be wrong with me. My doctors say its just cronic pain, but i know different.
700067 tn?1332989283 I get a lot of back pain as well, and also have mild scoliosis. But I also have tethered cord and bowel issues and I know when the IBS flares so do the back issues...also weather affects all of it too. And it is not muscular for me either and I get weird looks when I try to explain it.... I can not stand to go shopping I am always looking for a place to sit....or a cart to hang onto....the lights r not a help in stores either, but it is the back pain that gets to me....
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm a 19 year old female, 5 foot 11 inches, 140 pounds. I am in general good, healthy shape, except for these plaguing stomach aches that have been occuring for years now. The pain is generally on each side of my lower abdomen (more left side than right). Accompanying it is a gnawing stomach pain that generally creates a lot of belching and nausea. Also, I'll have episodes of diarrhea for days.
951908 tn?1303156218 You are always entitled to a second opinion. I now look for natural organic food and nutrition, and I quit taking Advil! If you want to get better you have to start with what your putting in your body, get a nutritional evaluation. If you take supplements make sure they are natural, and absorbable. Multi vitamins like Centrum end up in the toilet because your body doesn't absorb them. Minnerals also play a major roll, but they have to be natural for your body to use them.
Avatar m tn Hi guys! I have a lot of chronic pain problems with my knee, back and foot. I have been on all sorts of meds in the past, including vicodin and percocet. My orthopedic Dr. told me before I could mix tylenol with advil and it would equal a pain pill without the narcotic effect. I don't remember how many of each to take and how many hours apart to take each of them. Is this safe? I would rather take these then go back on pain meds! Thanks!

Avatar f tn I'm a 13 year old girl. I was diagnosed with acid reflux disease about a year ago. My stomach would occasionally hurt and I would feel like I was going to throw up, after trying several pills though, I found one that works. I now take Protanix which seems to work pretty well. Within the last few weeks though, I have had SEVERE abdominal pain to the point where i am collapsed on the ground crying.
Avatar f tn I was afraid that I had affected the baby by taking Advil and aleve. So far things are going great and no issue with the baby. Not sure how the baby would have been affected after 32 weeks. I'm a first time mom so I'm not sure but I would just check in with the doctor just to be on the safe side and to feel secure.
