Avatar n tn The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.
Avatar f tn I had to discover it myself which I resent bitterly. There are deaths reported with the use of Advair, the prime culprit may be salmeterol. It is interesting that the death rate with or without Advair is the same. Be warned. This is a very dangerous medication. Since I need something to help me because I am having to use the nebulizer more than I would like, I have turned to natural anti-inflammatories. So far I am using vitamin B5, MSM and mullein extract, and will probably add NAC.
Avatar f tn I would talk to your doctor about the side effects - advair has some nasty side effects that can be serious depending on age, health, other medications etc. There can be cardiac related things going on related to the medication or simple heartburn from it but it's better safe than sorry.
Avatar n tn I have had several problems with advair such as thrush and irregular heart beat. Also, my endocrinologist suggested that my osteopinia (sp?) could be related to advair use but it's just one possible culprit. I'm a runner and just finished a marathon and got thrush again from advair so decided I wanted to at least take a break from it. Well, it's been a few days and I have never had such breathing problems before I used advair, I have a constant headache and I'm exhausted.
Avatar n tn how do I prevent a yeast infection from advair This discussion is related to thrush from Advair.
5037123 tn?1362663006 One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
975514 tn?1324997938 I am curious to know if there are any long term health risks to using the Advair Diskus? I have been using it since it came out at various different dosages depending on my needs at the time. Just curious to know what others have experienced. Thanks.
Avatar f tn s prescription for an albuterol sulfate emergency oinhaler and keep it with you at all times! Do this as of yesterday! Most asthma deaths take place with those who don't have chronic asthma. A cascade of events can take place and you may end up with a laryngospasm completly blocking your airway! If you have a friendly doctor he will prescribe you emergency prednisone (20 mg tablets), which takes a while to get into the system.

Avatar m tn why do i cough up blood? my dr. has tried to explain it to me, something about air ways, air vents, etc. i do this the majority of the time maybe 2 days in between doing so. sometimes it's bright red and then sometimes a darker pink. i have 50% breathing capacity and am on oxygen. it's real scary even though i've been told not to worry about it. i take advair and spiriva and don't cough up that much but when i do and it is very little.
Avatar n tn What you describe is probably being caused by the inhaled steroid (ICS) in these 2 preparations fluticasone in the Advair® and budesonide in the Symbicort®. And, it may be dose related, so that the first step would be for you and your doctor to consider reducing the strength of the ICS. You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose.
Avatar m tn I have been on Advair for one week. It has completely taken my taste and smell ability away. I am not going to take it any more, but will my taste and smell senses return with time? 757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar m tn The ear does not seem to be effected, but I have developed asthma and other complications which seem to reoccur each winter...My asthma is weather related not allergy related. I have had a post nasal drip for 3 months now, which I took one bout of antibiotics for..it is still here. I have used nasocort and advair for awhile...What is it that I have?
Avatar n tn s office told me to go back on Advair. I said no because of the precaution about asthma-related death, and she basically told me I will not get better until I go back on it. I'm finding another doctor because I don't want to be pressured into taking a certain medication. There are lots of asthma meds out there, and I will find one that works for me.
184674 tn?1360860493 Even moderate alcohol use may substantially raise the risk of dying from cancer, according to a study released Thursday offering the first comprehensive update of alcohol-related cancer deaths in decades. "People don't talk about the issue of alcohol and cancer risk," said Dr. David Nelson, director of the Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program at the National Cancer Institute and lead author of the study.
Avatar n tn The cardiologist was not at all concerned with the use of the advair but the pulmonologist is concerned that it will interfere with her heart meds. I have gone round and round with the pulmonologist and I don't want to see mom start down a path to the end. She is strong as a bull and she is getting very fed up with all of this. We live in the same town as the Mayo Clinic and I'm seriously considering a visit to that establishment. Any comments or ideas would be appreciated!
Avatar f tn He also said that my lung condition now is not related to the spots. I am still on allergy meds and Advair. Some days my cough isn't as bad and other days my coughing is worse. My throat stays hoarse and irratiated most all of the time. I have three questions; Should a PET be done? I am so dumbfounded by my coughing issue. I have had this cough for over three months. Will I be cured? Should I see an allergist, due to having constant sinus drainage?

5056960 tn?1362956483 No, not marijuana-only related deaths. None that I know of anyway. However, marijuana often leads to the use of stronger drugs. That's the danger. The use of marijuana can also affect your memory and apparently it can make you paranoid.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I did start taking lexapro appr 2 weeks ago-also take yax, advair 250/50, buspar (15mg 2x daily). I have been dieting-eating mostly fruits and veggies-almost no salt. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn 34 deaths have been disclosed of Meridia patients but states it sees no pattern to the deaths or connection to Meridia. 16 deaths resulted from cardiovascular problems Adderall is a central nervous system stimulant. Both of these drugs are contraindicated...a definite no-no, for people with cardiac related problems. It would be negligable for an MD to give these drugs concurrently.
