advair

975514 tn?1324997938 As long as you use it as your doctor prescribes it, you shouldn't have any long term effects. If you are on a high dose long term there is possibility of some effects. The ones I know off the top of my head are below. Remember those they are the same effects you get off of oral steroid tablets but at a much lower risk Glaucoma, ostoporosis, adrenal fatigue/insuffiency, those are the only ones I can think of.
Avatar n tn Can long term use of Advair cause bruising? I have been on 500/50 for two years in the summer months and 250/50 the remainder of the year. I am bruising easily and believe it may be a long term side effect for using Advair.
Avatar f tn I have interstitial phneumonia since 1973 and have been on advair 500 since then I noticed lately that I am losing my voice and my pharmacist thought it was due to prolonged use of advair I also have trouble with pain in my legs and feet my toes turn up and I feel that if I try to straighten them out they would break very painful
Avatar n tn advair has warnings on it that it can cause candidiasis, yeast infections if not rinsing mouth or the dispenser, I would not use this, you can also get it in your lungs, remain untreated even if they treat your mouth and not your entire body, it can get into your eyes, too, long term use, cataracts, If you can use something else or not at all, then do it, but do not use meds ALL the time, give your body a break , see how you feel, if you use meds ALL the time, eventually, your body could get dna
Avatar f tn t get relief from them tell your doctor there is different kinds of inhalers you could use. But remember these are long term medicines. You have copd which is not curable but treatable. I made the same mistake as you thinking that if they if I don't feel better right away why take these, now I'm in the severe catorgory which is not good. It may seem like a bother right now but so is carrying an oxygen tank.
1425157 tn?1311651679 Flovent appears to be a steroid only. They don't work quickly like albuterol. They're for long term use and can cause some annoying problems like thrush (candidiasis). But they come with instructions on how to use them so you can avoid that. That's what I meant when I said my asthma gets out of control (the albuterol isn't clearing it up), then I use the steroid inhaler for a few weeks. No fun but it eventually gets my lungs back to normal.
Avatar n tn The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.
Avatar f tn I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.
Avatar n tn I use Duoneb (similar to combivent) in a nebulizer and find it very helpful. I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system. In place of Advair I use a variety of natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics. My health is much improved and I found that the severe bronchitis I had was in fact CAUSED by the Advair.
746512 tn?1388807580 However this could just be due to the lack of consistency in my test results to point at asthma. I am trying advair 250/50 right now, and it has improved my symptoms 90% within an hour of the first dose (minus one very stressful day that sucked and I couldn't breathe). However, I have always been very healthy and thus took coverage off of prescription drugs 2 years ago because I've had maybe 10 mild antibotic prescriptions in my 20 year life.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 26 year old female who never smoked and has no history of asthma in the family. For the past 9 months, I've been experiencing a mild shortness of breath, sometimes accompanied by a sharp (and sometimes dull) pain on the left side of my chest just above the breast. I've noticed the sharp pains from time to time when I inhale deeply or when I exhale fast and hard. Other than that, I don't wheeze or cough like many asthmatics do.
Avatar n tn The steroids will be taking care of your inflammation. Advair is also to reduce the inflammation (it is a long term anti-inflammatory) but it can take a couple months for it to take full effect. You seem to be missing the medicine for the bronchospasms or constriction (typically this is Albuterol.) ADVAIR helps prevent asthma symptoms from occurring in the first place. Results may vary. ADVAIR is not for, and should not be used to treat, sudden, severe symptoms of asthma.
Avatar f tn thank you all for responding to my question. I have stress echo test lined up tomorrow. Will know what doc says afterwards.
Avatar f tn While it is known that high doses, much higher than Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder 500/50, of long-acting bronchodilator medicines, such as the Serevent® (salmeterol) in Advair™ Diskus® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Powder, can cause abnormal heart rhythms, this is rare.
Avatar n tn If you find that you do experience difficulty breathing with exercise, you can use your rescue inhaler as a preventative treatment. Take 2 - 3 puffs about 20 minutes before you begin exercising. This does prevent people from having problems unless they are in a flare. My friends usually will tone down their exercise routine accomodate the severity of the flare.
Avatar n tn t seem to pop up much on the websites, except in the case of long-term users of the inhalers. Right now we are seeing a family practice doctor. Would it make sense for her to see a specialist or if I should just keep working with her primary care doc? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.
