Advair inhaler side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Advair inhaler side effects

advair

Avatar n tn I have looked up the side effects of both Singulair and Advair. It seems that both can cause skin issues. I just know that he's been using the Advair all along with no problems but once he started the Singulair the itching returned. Now I will have to say that the past two days have been better. Maybe his body needed to adjust? Dunno.
Avatar f tn I was taking that dosage. As time went by I developed very serious adrenal fatigue, sometimes so bad that I couldn't walk. Cortisol levels were very high. I was treated for it with only moderate success. But there was a more serious side effect that I was not aware of. For the last two years my lung health was declining seriously and I honestly did not think I would make it through the coming winter. I assumed that the COPD was progressing at an alarming rate.
Avatar f tn so after my discharge at hosp my treatments were breathing machine with 2 medications in it...high doses of steroids(prednisone) for weeks..inhaler and advair. shortly after i went off the steroids i felt great. so i was just using my puff inhaler and advair. then a couple weeks later i find out i am pregnant so i stop the advair (category c ). i know stupid. now i am about 22 weeks pregnant and my athsma had been horrible using puff inhaler 3-4 times a day.
Avatar n tn They are very very scary. Could this be a side effect of Advair. Also, my son is not consistant in taking the medication. Are there side-effects from this med when you don't take it everyday.....twice a day?
Avatar f tn i have done salt therapies in past , many kinds of therapies like halotherapy , silinetherapy , speleotherapy , they gave me great benefit for asthma , by passing 101 days in a salt cave reduces my asthma that I was feeling that I have new lungs , that was amazing !!!!
Avatar f tn My ob took me off advair. She said the effects are not know so there fore it's not safe in pregnancy. I only use my ventolin rescue and prednisone when I have an attack. My asthma is very bad but I have been getting by without the advair. Maybe you should talk to your ob. No controller inhaler is safe during pregnancy.
5037123 tn?1362663006 One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Severent (salmeterol) can have very serious side effects, death being the most notable. Flovent is a corticosteroid. Read the FDA warnings of February 2010. Like you I have moderately severe COPD. I use Duoneb (similar to combivent) in a nebulizer and find it very helpful. I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system.
Avatar f tn I was having the same side effects, switched to dulera and have very few side effects, only stomach acid which is treatable. Glad you're feeling better.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? Avatar f tn I am using Beta2 agonists. I don't have much side effects. I get mild head aches some times.
Avatar f tn Advair is a combination medication. It has an ihaled corticosteroird (ICS) and a long acting beta2 agonist (LABA - long acting broncho dilater). It is not recommended that you stop taking the ICS all at once. It is a steroid, although it doesn't have the same side effects of oral steroids. The ICS is really the primary treatment for asthma. After you are feeling better, you can discus trying an ICS only medication like Asmanex or Alvesco with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, I think you are on all that there is available to take, outside of oral steroids. I've been told by my pulmonary specialist that at a certain level of asthma treatment that a certain amount of daily symptoms will have to be tolerated. As long as these symptoms aren't detrimental. If the asthma becomes more out of control with detrimental effects, then more potent therapy (such as oral steroids or even higher doses of inhaled steroids) will have to be added on.
757137 tn?1347196453 Not only can it worsen asthma, but the side effects can be fatal. Other forms of treatment should be sought and, if the product is used at all, it should be for short periods of time. Advair affected my adrenals, harmed my eyes, and worsened my asthma. It caused such serious choking that I feared it would kill me. I stopped taking it last August and am doing fine on natural anti-inflammatories. This is no thanks to my pulmonologist. I had to work out my treatment for myself.
Avatar n tn You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose. Along these same lines, unless your doctor is absolutely certain that you have persistent asthma, you might be able to get by without an ICS. You should, without fail, always use a spacer with the inhaler and rinse your mouth and gargle after each treatment.
Avatar n tn Am asma patient, and I notice that taking Advair cause me fatgue. I also notice the retention of urine just as describe on the comment of another user of Advair. At this time I will not use the said medication. Thanks for the warming of other statements, no longer will I use it. Thanks mucho.
Avatar m tn I heard that symbicort has less long term side effects but after over a year my FEV1 scores haven't improved at all on it
746512 tn?1388807580 I'd say it's the increased triggers. Advair can definitely be pricey. Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective.
Avatar f tn I got off Advair because of very serious side effects which actually made my breathing worse. Symbicort is probably just as bad. They are steroids that throw your adrenals out of whack. Because of Advair I suffered serious adrenal fatigue which I am being treated for. Stick to natural whenever you can. However I still must use Duoneb (an albuterol mix) in a nebulizer and Benadryl when needed.
Avatar m tn I have been on Advair for one week. It has completely taken my taste and smell ability away. I am not going to take it any more, but will my taste and smell senses return with time? Avatar f tn I got off that poison three years ago and switched to natural anti-inflammatories. They work better and there are no side effects. As to what Advair did to me - osteoporosis, adrenal fatigue, candidiasis, and on and on. The candidiasis alone would have killed me if I had not been treated in time.
1425157 tn?1311651679 i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....you have to weigh out the benefits and what is more acute and has to be dealt with and not getting enough air to me take priority over an occasional fast heart however you want to make sure that the doc has okayed you to take an aspirin if you are going thru this to ward off the threat of clotting....
370736 tn?1247242917 t been a lot of studies done on the effects it has on preg. women. He said I should take Advair instead. On Fri I spoke to my RE and he said that I should listen to him or my OB about the singulair thing and not listen to the genetic counselor. He said that he would recommend taking the singulair and not the Advair. Well I stopped taking both and so far so good. Everybody said the Albuterol is okay...it's been tested for years.
Avatar n tn vitamin B5 (anti-inflammatory and mucolytic), mullein extract and MSM (both natural anti-inflammatories). There are absolutely not side effects to these natural supplements. My breathing has improved 15% according to my peak flow meter and my sinus headaches have disappeared. The hair has fallen off my face and I am recovering from adrenal fatigue. Some years ago a kinesiologist who got rid of all of my food allergies, something an allergist could not do.
Avatar m tn A note about your phlegm problems. From using the emphysema medications one can develop thrush (a fungal infection). This no doubt extends to the lungs. Antibiotics and prednisone are marvelous food for fungi. They love it. So what do you do to help yourself.... Mucomyst is back on the market. That will dissolve the phlegm and has a neutral ph, unlike stuff like Spiriva which is acid. (Fungi thrive in an acid environment.) Also you might want to take a potassium iodide supplement.
Avatar n tn The manufacturer does not lay much emphasis on deaths caused by Advair, a rather spectacular side effect. I stopped using it because it caused severe bronchitis (which I thought mistakenly was part of a worsening illness). I stopped cold turkey after almost choking to death. And, guess what, I have mild chronic bronchitis.
Avatar n tn In fact I am doing better than I did on Advair. And - no side effects. I realize now that the serious bronchitis I was suffering was caused by Advair. The only prescribed drug I now use is Duoneb (albuterol and ipatroprium) in a nebulizer.
