t see any problem with using the Advair. As always, be careful with how you use it but inhaling Advair should not be a problem after the first 24-48 hours. Also, when we mention to be careful when spitting or sucking through a straw, I believe that generates more pressure in the oral cavity than the use of Advair. I have been diagnosed with asthma myself. I take Singulair oral medication. I have Albuterol for a rescue inhaler, which I don't use all the time. In other words, I have to remind myself to use it when necessary. I don't use a peak flow meter, although I probably should. I wouldn't obsess with using the meter that much. Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I was able to quit using Advair and only use my rescue inhaler from time to time. (When someone decides to wear certain perfumes or colognes). I am taking grape seed extract which contains OPCs which are very good for controlling asthma. Just thought somebody would like to know...

Do you have white stuff in the back of your throat? Advair may cause a fungus to grow if you do not rinse your mouth and throat after use. If you have a fungus, you will need to see your doctor.

Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist). You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor. I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.

My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. Flovent appears to be a steroid only. They don't work quickly like albuterol. They're for long term use and can cause some annoying problems like thrush (candidiasis). But they come with instructions on how to use them so you can avoid that. You will need to talk to your doctor to see if they want you to stop taking it. Advair is a preventative medicine so normally you take it every day, even if you feel good. If you stop taking it for asthma, the symptoms will come back. But no it does not have withdrawal symptoms like oral corticosteroids.

I use the Advair Diskus 250/50 every 12 hours. My job requires that I talk. It has become difficult to talk with the use of the Diskus. If I stop using it a few days my voice comes back. My Doctor told me to gargle, which I do when I rinse my mouth. I have also tried using biotene moisturizing mouth spray as well as the cream. Nothing seems to help. My employer is always asking when this is going to change. I want my voice back. Do you have any suggestions.

I have the same problem. My doc had me on 250/50 2 times daily. It became a problem for me becuase I am sensitive to medications. I don't like feeling jittery because it freaks me out LOL. I stopped using it and then just Sunday, had an asthma attack. Now I'm using my inhaler and will have to start back on it. THE SOLUTION: My doc understood my concern about Advair. He said to take it once in the morning or afternoon regularly.

The ER doctor cringed when I told him I was on advair.. He suggested I talk to my doctor and get switched to something else immediately. Stay away from advair if you can!
