advair

Avatar m tn You might want to read up on the side effects of Advair. There has been a movement away from the use of inhaled steroids. I stopped using Advair almost four years ago.after developing serious side effects. My condition actually improved when I got off it. You might be interested to know that inhaled steroids do not reduce mortality. I tried Spiriva but found it very drying and had to stop using it.
Avatar f tn I was initially prescribed Anoro when diagnosed with emphysema. It did not work even after trying it a year. I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day. Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common?
975514 tn?1324997938 To summarize, it was not emphysema that was killing me; it was Advair. Those around me will attest to that. One daughter even said it was as though I had been reborn.
Avatar n tn I have emphysema. i use advair twice a day and spiriva one a day. The biggest problem for me is that I always seem to havemucus build up in the mornings. My doctor has told me to try mucinex, but that doesn't seem to work all the time. So i try using albuterol in the morning to help loosen up the mucus so that I can breath better.
Avatar f tn They took xrays, gave me a breathing treatment, told me I was having an exaerbation from my emphysema. Doc gave me Advair Diskus and an albuterol inhaler and told me I didnt have time to wait til January to get a pcp when I went on my husbands insurance. The temp doc I saw, never did test, but put me on more meds and put on her paper, "Chronic Obstructive Unspecified Asthma.
Avatar f tn Said yes, I had moderate emphysema and sent me home with an emergency inhaler, advair and told me not to fly! I had no symptoms at all, but in the last couple of weeks have started to have periods of shorness of breath and fatigue. If you had a ct and a spirometry which are normal, I would wait a couple weeks and redo the chest exray? And take it from there.
Avatar n tn The test revealed that I either had very bad asthma or very mild emphysema. My regular doctor gave me Spiriva inhaler to use as a trial. That seemed to stop the cough. I was immediately referred to a pulomonary specialist who put me on Advair 250/50 twice a day. This inhalation treatment has stopped my chronic cough.
Avatar m tn I have emphysema. Was diagnosed maybe 5 years ago? When I blow out on the measuring thing, the ball hardly moves. I would like to do SOMETHING to try to get back some lung function. I'm only 56 and haven't smoked for nearly 10 years. Should have never - obviously. When I get on the treadmill or even try to do yoga, I get so out of breath it's ridiculous. Am I just going to have to accept that this is as good as my breathing will ever be?
Avatar n tn COPD is the umbrella term that includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. The symbicort is good for reducing the inflammation (therefore narrows the breathing tubes) in the lung pathways. It should help your bronchitis.
Avatar m tn Your pharmacist can answer that with a phone call...quicker than trying to get in touch with your Dr.....who should not have prescribed them if there would be interactions. If it wasn't the same Dr they should have asked what you are currently taking as well as otc items.
Avatar n tn I take Spiriva once a day and Advair twice a day. Then I take breatihing treatments three times a day. And I have an inhaler. I still wheez like crazy at different times of the day. Help! This discussion is related to research.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have asthsma and use Advair. I have heard about some potential worrysome side effectsd and it's damm expensive. Does anyone have a better choice for controlling asthsma?
Avatar n tn s too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too. will i ever get better and be able to switch to lower advair dose? my MD says i have "moderate" COPD....does it get better, or what?

Avatar f tn DO I ALSO NEED TO BE TAKING SYMBICORT OR ADVAIR? WHAT CAN I DO TO TRY TO MANAGE MY COPD BESIDES QUIT SMOKING WHICH I HAVE CUT DOWN TO A HALF A PACK A DAY. WHICH IS ALL THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH NOW. WHAT CAN I BE DOING TO BETTER CONTROL MY BREATHING WITH WHAT I HAVE ON HAND?
746512 tn?1388807580 office) to apply for you but it covers all but i think 10.00 dollars. advair works very well. my mother who has emphysema took my suggestion and talked to her dr. and now has one and she also loves how it works.
Avatar m tn I am a 40 yr old male // smoked for 22 yrs and have recently been diagnosed with emphysema apparently stage 4 because I have already been put on O2 // currently taking advair twice a day and spiriva once a day.
Avatar n tn Be particularly wary of prednisone, or inhaled steroids, such as Advair. The side effects can be devastating. Certainly much more serious than mild emphysema, if, in fact, you have emphysema. If you do, there are natural anti-inflammatories which experience has shown me work better than inhaled steroids. The latter, in fact, almost killed me. No joke.
Avatar n tn I have emphysema and asthma. For me Advair was poison. I was on it for several years. It caused adrenal fatigue, hair on my face (unfortunate because I am female), eye problems -- I could go on an on. I tapered off the Advair and finally got rid of it completely. Instead I use 1000 mg. vitamin B5 (anti-inflammatory and mucolytic), mullein extract and MSM (both natural anti-inflammatories). There are absolutely not side effects to these natural supplements.
Avatar f tn dr.diagnosed emphysema after looking at a chest x-ray but didn't say to do anything else but quit smoking which i have. shouldn't i be going to a dr.to check lung capacity or something? To me i feel like he gave me a death sentence and said o.k. see ya later.
Avatar f tn My husband had lung cancer, which metatastised to brain, bone, spine, and liver, and emphysema. He passed away 2 years ago, which has added to my stress. I have treied to quit smoking several times in the past, to no avail. I know that is the biggie to do, but what else? I have educated myself on-line as much as I can, but there isn't a lot of info out there to help in practical matters. And no explanation of the difference between COPD and emphysema.......or are they the same?
Avatar n tn Both conditions cause the symptoms you speak of. I also was diagnosed with emphysema , moderate range about 2 months ago. This is what I was told by the pulmonologist. I seem to have symptoms only on exertion and am very active, as I have my own cleaning business. He said to make sure I stay as active as I can to keep my chest muscles, lungs in best working order possible, get flue and pneumonia shot and stay away from sick people.
Avatar f tn I then go to my hemotologist, tell him what I was told, he gets quiet for a moment, then reassures me that all my doctors are treating everything the right way; I get IVIG for the CVID, am on Advair 100/50, Singulair and Mucinex, along with other meds for other problems.
161647 tn?1280608163 Just saw this post and want to tell you that my mother was diagnosed exactly the same " a touch of emphysema" about 5 years ago. Doc said at that stage it should not progress as long as she stops smoking. I of course tend to freak out whenever something goes wrong with mom so did days upon days of research and most of the medical field says as long as you immediately stop smoking and stay healthy (diet, excercise) it should stop the progression.
Avatar n tn What are your spirometry test results? I have been dealing with emphysema for a few years now, and I know exactly how my body reacts to a sat level of 79%. But to answer your question anyway: I agree with Sunny462, I didn't want to be restricted and dependent on meds and O2 therapy either, but once I started taking my Advair, Albuterol PRN, and supplemental O2 I feel SO much better.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with trace emphysema in 1996 from smoking I continued to smoke it is 12 years later, now I have cronic bronkitus and copd I am 54
Avatar f tn I have chronic emphyzema and am currently on advair, inhalers etc... Sometimes , like this morning when I wake up I have a real real real hard time breathing, in fact I can't seem to get any air.. I don't panic as I found that it makes it worse, but I'm telling you it was and is very frightening, I am unable to talk at that point as I am too busy trying to get air and my lungs are so tight at that point I feel myself passing out.
Avatar n tn I have had asthma for12 yrs(age 62) and I take advair and singular. I have had a persistent cough for a month and now have halitosis too. I took a z pack the first week of the cough. Am I in trouble or is it just allergies and asthma?
