advair and prednisone

(a first for me) and have been having more frequent asthma exacerbations requiring longer regimens of prednisone (my worst enemy...bone loss). I am continually on asthma meds to keep things at bay (advair 500/50, spiriva, asmanex, xoponex, etc.

After consulting my asthma doc they decided to give me a course of steroids to nip the attack in the bud. I started prednisone yesterday (30mg) and then developped a bad cold (which is probably why my asthma was flairing since I was coming down with a cold). I am hacking a lung here, have blown my nose through one box of Klenex already! Is the prednisone going to prolong this cold? Or will it help my lung heal up faster? I was lucky when I took steroids in the past I never had a cold!

I have interstitial phneumonia since 1973 and have been on advair 500 since then I noticed lately that I am losing my voice and my pharmacist thought it was due to prolonged use of advair I also have trouble with pain in my legs and feet my toes turn up and I feel that if I try to straighten them out they would break very painful

I have been on Advair 500/50 for over ten years. Recently, I lost my health insurance and now cannot afford the Advair. Is there such a thing as having withdrawal symptoms from Advair?

Hi dizzy13, I understand your concern about moonface and Advair. While both steroids are in the same class of steroids, cortiscosteroids, the dosage in Advair is DRASTICALLY smaller than what you would get taking oral corticosteroids. Advair's steroid is some thing like 100 mcg that is a a 1/10,000TH of a gram, where as taking oral steroids you usuallt take at leat 10 mg. The oral dose is roughly 100 times larger than the inhaled does.

Hello, I'm a 45 year old man, in pretty good shape. Workout every other day 5'11" 185lbs. History of seasonal allergies and sinsus problems. No history of Asthma. In November 2015, I had a really bad allergic reaction to a coworkers perfume and had a very difficult time recovering from it. In February 2016, my doctor prescribed Advair 250/50, once a day and Singulair 10mg at bedtime.

so after my discharge at hosp my treatments were breathing machine with 2 medications in it...high doses of steroids(prednisone) for weeks..inhaler and advair. shortly after i went off the steroids i felt great. so i was just using my puff inhaler and advair. then a couple weeks later i find out i am pregnant so i stop the advair (category c ). i know stupid. now i am about 22 weeks pregnant and my athsma had been horrible using puff inhaler 3-4 times a day.

I've tried bronchodilators like dulera/advair, prednisone even but only prednisone seems to help my sleep. I started allergy shots, is this going to help my sleep breathing problems?

Hey everyone new here...question has anyone taken dulera for asthma problems during pregnancy...my doctor is informing me that I need not to go off of it because if I'm not getting oxygen my baby isn't...I've taken advair during pregnancy but not dulera anyone ever taken it and have a healthy baby?

I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?

I was diagnosed with asthma a year ago and have been treated with Advair, Singulair and Albuterol as needed. I have been under good control until I was recently diagnosed with an eye conditon called central serous retinopathy. I was told by the retinal specialist that I can take no form of prednisone unless it is a life threatening issue because it could worsen the eye condition. Now I am having problems with my asthma since I have been off the Advair.Any suggestions?

ok, man i have asthma too well, i quit smoking a few yrs ago so now my lungs are good but prednisone made me nutz has your doctor given you other options such has zopenex or pulmicord these are mild steriods and if you use them in your nebulizer, and slowly taper off the prednisone your body will have a little help what dose do you take, how many a day?

Hopefully those PFT's get better with the Advair and prednisone, maybe the doc is thinking that there is inflammation going on. That is just a guess though. I am keeping you in my prayers. How is the O2 coming along?

Hi Yvette, I had a pretty severe asthma attack when I was 24 weeks. I had to go to the emergency room at 1:00 am and they gave me oxygen and prvental as well as Prednisone ( serious steroid). I stayed on prednisone for two weeks then I went on advair until my DD was born. She was born very strong and healthy and she, unlike me, has no allergies so far at almost 4 year old. I was very worried about my baby and the prednisone, but they needed to get me and keep me breathing.

I take Prednisone, Symbicort, and Theo-Dur all daily. I use my ProAir only as needed. Anyone have any suggestions?

i got bronchitis and the doc first put me on abuterol and it knocked my heart for a loop and then he put me on advair and it did the same thing so we just stopped it....they are obviously loaded w. steroids and we all know how great that is for all of us....i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....

That might depend on what dosage you are on. The lower dosage shouldn't show up at all while the highest dose may show up with trace amounts. At any of the dosages the amount of steroid you are getting is so small and the medicine goes directly where it is needed that very little if any can make it into your blood streem. I assume you are wanting to know for sports reasons, there would be absolutely no issue with Advair on an employment test. Asthma steroids are corticosteroids.

Also became easily agitated, restless and quick to anger. Am thowing the Advair away, especially now that my strength is back enough to look up the side-effects and dangers of this medicant. I suggest your Dr find you another solution.

I have read that people with asthma frequently have lower than normal levels of gastric hydrochloric acid, which is of course important for proper digestion. Supplementation with betaine hydrochloride, along with magnesium, B6 and B12 has helped many asthma sufferers. As always, I recommend seeing a good nutritionist. Many things, such as Quercetin with Bromelain enzyme, plus Vitamin C,, are antihistaminic, and help stabilize cells to stop inflammation. B vitamin injections are also helpful.

This usually is more apparent when he is lying down on his right side specifically. He has had a chest x-ray, and was told there is no pneumonia. He has been on advair for about 3 weeks now (twice daily), and started on prednisone five days ago (60mg day 1, 55mg day 2, 50mg day 3, etc..), and has not has had any improvement. When he coughs, it sounds like he is going to cough up a lung. He is not and has never been a smoker.

t any usefull effects except high pulse rate(my pulse was going about 130 to 150 during taking pulmicort) so my doc gave me advair of 250/50 four puffs twice a day, and said if it will not work you have to take prednisone because this is the highest save does of advair ,and my doc is not only one who said this , ihave visited many doctors to avoid these pills but everyone said same thing about my case I think there is no other treatment except these pills at the last!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking mullein, marshmallow and large doses of vitamin B5. Prednisone and inhaled steroids can cause osteoporosis, but I guess you know that. It can also cause adrenal fatigue, which it did in my case. Here's hoping you are just having a flareup that will soon subside. Sometimes heartburn is caused by a deficiency in stomach acid. (I would have thought it was due to too much acid.) This happened to one of my daughters.

The FDA issued a warning last February concerning Advair. It should only be used when nothing else works, and even then, for only short periods of time. There are many serious side effects, including death (a pretty serious side effect). I have not heard of Advair causing bruising. How are you on vitamins? Lack of vitamin C, or any others?

Resting to keep up your energy and a lot, I mean a lot of water will break up the mucous and flush your system. Advair will reduce inflammation of the bronchial tubes but wont help with the mucous. Good Luck, hope you feel better soon!

I was recently diagnosed with early copd. Since I do not have health insurance, i go to a clinic. The physician's assistant has prescribed singular for my copd, I don't feel that it is helping me very much. I mostly have shortness of breath & coughing in the evening. This disease frightens me because I don't feel I am getting the right medical advice. I asked about simbicor & spiriva and was told that those meds are for later stages of copd.

My girlfriend suffers from chronic asthma, which has resulted in nearly annual hospital stays. She found a specialist that seemed to have a temporary solution- daily Advair and Singulair medication (high dose) and Prednisone treatments every few months during recurring problems.
