1425157 tn?1311651679 i got bronchitis and the doc first put me on abuterol and it knocked my heart for a loop and then he put me on advair and it did the same thing so we just stopped it....they are obviously loaded w. steroids and we all know how great that is for all of us....i could call the doc and ask him/her if there is anything out there on the market that they can prescribe to you to keep your bronchials open w. no side effects of the adrenaline rushes....
Avatar f tn When I was about 3 years old I had really bad asthma and needed to be hospitalized in order to control it. My mom says that the meds the gave me never seemed to work but the asthma eventually calmed down on it's own. As I grew up the asthma was less noticable. I think that from the time I was about 14 until I was 30 I hardely ever had asthma or needed to use an inhaler.
1625877 tn?1299344991 I have been on Advair 500/50 for over ten years. Recently, I lost my health insurance and now cannot afford the Advair. Is there such a thing as having withdrawal symptoms from Advair?
757137 tn?1347196453 Some people will mild asthma may be able to use natural anti-inflammatories to control it but those can have side-effects and toxicity as well. Only decrease your medication with the guildance of a doctor, if you don't do it properly you can send yourself into a severe asthma attack that could be more deadly than using advair. Find a naturopath or homeopath or someone with lots of experience in treating asthma naturally to help guide you.
Avatar n tn i've had asthma for a long period of time, and i was taking advair to treat it. I had it under control to the point where i didnt need to take advair anymore but recently ive been having the symptoms again, so ive started back taking the advair that was prescribed to me when i first got it. is that ok?
Avatar f tn I never experienced those symptoms while on Advair and I used Advair for many many years. After reading your comments I am stopping Dulera and going back to Advair, it worked better and I trust it better than Dulera. Another thing I have noticed is the Dulera applicator will fail to deliver the medication, I will have to try it over and over again and in the meant time, the counter of the application continues to count each activation even though it fails to deliver the medication.
Avatar n tn Several months ago, I noticed asthma symptoms returning. I saw my pulmonary doc last week and he upped advair to 250/50. How long should it take until I see a noticeable change? Also I have been having a dry cough, which I read can be a side effect of advair. Should that go away eventually?
1232362 tn?1333135406 In these conditions, there is too much fluid in the body. Birth control pills, blood pressure medicines, steroids and antidepressants, can lead to swelling also. Try to elevate your legs above your heart while lying down, exercise your legs, wear support stockings and follow a low-salt diet, which may reduce fluid retention and swelling. If it persists, check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care always.
Avatar m tn I have moderate to advanced copd and take both advair and spriva. My hep doc didn't see any problem with it For me it came down to a choice of whether or not I wanted to stay of the oxygen tank.
Avatar m tn Some things you may want to try at that point are different medications specifically Dulera or Symbicort instead of the Advair and adding allergy medications and nasal sprays. Allergy testing and shots may be needed as well. Finding the cause of the cough is essential to bringing it under control. Please don't hesitate to ask additional questions. I am glad to help in anyway I can. I know it is a rough road. God bless.
1679876 tn?1304743615 I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT--- -Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds? I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril. My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine, tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?
Avatar f tn Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots. I am also taking oral contraceptives (I have been informed that this medication may increase the risk for clotting problems). I am feeling more respiratory congestion with each additional day off Advair and would like to know if it's safe to use Advair so soon after wisdom teeth extraction. Thanks!
757137 tn?1347196453 Advair has a steroid in it, which can cause hair growth, etc. I took Advair for my COPD briefly. I simply did not like the side effects that it seem to give me.
Avatar f tn when i was training for half marathon last year, i had shortness of breath, so extensive testing of my lungs was done and i was told due to 20 plus years of asthma small airways in my lungs have narrowed and i was put on Advair 132/21 hfa inhaler. it helped open up my lung and i was told by more than one doctor to take this inhaler every day like people take blood pressure medicine everyday. so I did that ( i was on a blood pressure medicine too at the time 20mg of benicar).
Avatar n tn The reason im wondering is because alot of times certain inhalers will mess with your tongue such as making it numb and swollen, making it wierd colors, or sometimes even ooze out puss and phlem, A few of the inhalers that will do this unless you rinse your mouth out after every actuation are, Combivent, Flovent, ADVAIR or even some nose sprays that hit the back of your tongue. Let me know...Peace!
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
209987 tn?1451935465 Hubby would like to know what the difference ( aside from price ) is between advair and symbicort. Advair is $176/month...but he could get symbicort for less than $50/month. Because of the price difference he would like to ask his doctor about changing it. Think his lung specialist would go for that if he asked? Are there any other inhalers that are similar to advair?
394687 tn?1290920840 I would imagine it would be due to the concentration. Over 10 mgs is more significant. The lotions probably have much less. I am at 7.5 but will try to titrate back to 5 for tx. I believe the body uses about 4 p/d in the adrenal gland which tends to not work after years of steroids (been 13 yrs for me). Deb - that is interetsting about your use during tx...we discused before but i forgot - how long and how much were you on?
Avatar f tn I am NOT pregnant I know that for a fact. I am on Yaz was just put on it was on different birth control pill before that and was still bleeding every week and a half or so. These symptoms were occuring before any of the birth control they have been going on for about 8 months now. Any ideas would be great. Thank you.
5037123 tn?1362663006 Last week I was diagnosed with Asthma (through a breathing test) after two bouts with Bronchitis and lots of coughing. My doctor gave me Advair. After 3 doses I began getting back pain between my shoulder blades. Not sure if it was from the Advair I took another dose and the pain got worse. I contacted my doctor and he changed me to Symbicort. I had no problem for 3 days, but after today's dose the back pain is back. Is this typical or am I doing something wrong when inhaling.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge Advair® (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) has not been linked to strokes. Have you heard anything about this in the lay press?
746512 tn?1388807580 I'd say it's the increased triggers. Advair can definitely be pricey. Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective.
Avatar f tn I went away for the weekend and forgot to pack my Advair, is there an over the counter medication I can take if necessary?
Avatar m tn He told me my results were consistent with asthma and prescribed me Advair while also using Proair for relief. Its been one week and the Advair hasnt made my symptoms any better. Im starting to wonder if I have something other than asthma. Any thoughts/advice/feedback? Thank you in advance.
Avatar n tn I have emphysema. i use advair twice a day and spiriva one a day. The biggest problem for me is that I always seem to havemucus build up in the mornings. My doctor has told me to try mucinex, but that doesn't seem to work all the time. So i try using albuterol in the morning to help loosen up the mucus so that I can breath better.
