Avatar f tn Hi, I just saw this post and i thought I'd add my my treatment to things. Because I have rapid cycling bi-polar disorder my ADHD symptoms went unnoticed until recently.I am obviously on a combination of medications but I am prescribed Modafinil for my ADHD symptoms, they won't even try usual ADHD medication as in my case the repercussions could be dangerous.
Avatar f tn Discoverering ADD/ADHD is becoming more common in adulthood. What kind of symptoms are you having?
707438 tn?1240959640 I for one highly disagree but was wondering about how others felt regarding Adult ADD/ADHD. All opinions are welcome but PLEASE be considerate about others thoughts and feelings.
Avatar n tn If ADHD goes undiagnosed till adulthood what are some of the symptoms? Can depression be one? Can Bipolar be one? Is addictive personality a symptom of any one of these?
Avatar f tn I have been doing alot of research on ADHD lately as I think my daughter probably has it. While I was searching, I kept coming across sites about adult ADHD and I'm starting to think I have it as well.
Avatar f tn People with ADHD often pick exciting jobs that involve moving around and paying attention for short periods of time--things like being a paramedic or chef for example. It is also part of adult ADHD to be an underachiever, but again this does not have to last forever. Sometimes living at home can prolong the problems. You know your parents are acting as a safety net, and this can make you stagnate.

Avatar n tn I take abilify and citalopram for the schizoaffective disorder and vyvanse for the adhd symptoms. I find that since i have been given adhd meds, my condition has stabilized completely. I was not well on the schizoaffective meds alone. i still had problems concentrating and with focus .As well as social problems and listening to others and paying attention.
Avatar n tn My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms. Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD? I haven't noticed any difference in my ability to remember/concentrate but have been taking it for a little over a week now and seem a bit (I use this lightly..) less anxious...but, still need my ADHD treated.
Avatar f tn i was wondering if anyone here diagnosed with adult adhd could share with me a few things please in regards to focusing and staying focused whether it's reading or driving television any activity does medication help you stay focused? and does the ability to not be able to focus extend to everything regardless the level of interest you hold in it?
Avatar m tn For the past 30 years (I'm 53), my doctor had been treating me for "excessive daytime sleepiness" that was so bad that it was ruining my life; after a 2 night sleep/daytime nap study at a major university, the results were still "disorder or excessive sleepiness" or "similar to sleep-attack narcolepsy, but not REM-onset". No drug other than the stimulant ritalin helped, so I took that for almost 30 years and all was well.
Avatar m tn I have adult adhd, im 43 y/o male .Im not taking nothing right now for it. I do take 3 vicodin a day for neck arthritis and 1# 1mg xanax at night to sleep. I been having mild anxiety a few times a day. i was wondering if i got the adhd meds it would help with the anxiety attacks. or maybe ask the dr for xanax during the day also. what is a good adhd med for adults to ask for?
Avatar n tn Congratulations on trying to do something about what is going on with you. Well, the first thing you probably need is to get a real good idea of what ADHD or ADD is. The link on this site is pretty good. http://www.medhelp.org/medical-information/show/2157/Attention-deficit-hyperactivity-disorder-ADHD Another good site is - http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/ Meds might well help you - or not. There really is only one way to find out.
Avatar f tn Thank you. I was going to get a "thorough" evaluation, but found that the tester was not that qualified. The psychiatrist that I've been seeing for other meds simply opened his DSM manual, listened to my symptoms and asked if I wanted treatment. I didn't like this attitude either. So I'm going to go with my family doctor on this one. I also see a very good therapist who will support me, but has mixed feelings about the ADD diagnosis. Thanks again.
490665 tn?1210334012 was wondering if adult add goes un detected for quite a while, its just i suffer with anxiety and have been told its a side effect of add or adhd, i have always been quite hyperactive as a person and as a young person was very unruly and troublesom and did not quite understand why i was like that and why i was doin things wrong, i always have compulsions to get in trouble and still do, i also suffer with a bad temper but i dont mean to have these outbursts they just happen!!
Avatar f tn Actually, research tends to indicate that very few people with anxiety also suffer from ADHD/ADD, although, of course, that is always a possibility. Most people with anxiety have ADHD symptoms but, in fact, do not have ADHD (this is why so often one will read that Ritalin or similar medication is not working). I also believe that mild/moderate anxiety can be helped with herbal and/or natural remedies. So, why not try this route as a first option.
Avatar m tn Finally i got desperate i read an article that all the symptoms could be from adult adhd.so i went out,and first family dr put e on vyvanse which totally changed me.price was high so changed to adderall but great results, not only that but since being on adderall i know longer have to take my 16mg suboxone.my life was pathetic allways home,no friends, forgot how to live.now im with my family, grups, met a girl i feel alive again.anyway i know adderall is very addictive my mom keeps close eye.
Avatar f tn //www.additudemag.com/adhd-in-adults-nervous-system/ finally the last two links are to two very good sites that post on adult adhd/add. They have a ton of info and (warning) it is almost overwhelming. But, it is really presented in a very interesting way (lots of videos). https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-nPM1_kSZf91ZGkcgy_95Q https://totallyadd.com/#/welcome/ Take some time to look at this stuff.
Avatar f tn Hello, Sort of looking at starting a bit of a discussion here rather than posting a question. I recently went to my doctor for a routine ailment and he questioned whether I had ever been assessed for ADHD given some traits he noticed during our many consultations over the years. Long story short I went to a psychiatrist and got a definitive diagnosis of ADHD and began taking dexamphetamine (dexedrine i believe is the US "version").
707438 tn?1240959640 i was just wondering if there were any adult adhd sufferers in this community and if there is can you get in touch with me?
