Common Questions and Answers about Adult acne nodules

acne

Avatar m tn I am 25 years old, have suffered form adult acne since i was about 14 and had been experiencing lower abdominal pain on my left side for several years. In the last couple of years, I started experiencing hot flashes accompanied by moderate-severe anxiety and depression. Just as an aside, I studied psychology for several years and have earned, not only my bachelors in psych, but also several certifications and honors surrounding my degree ( I start my masters in a couple of months!).
Avatar n tn I have never had nodules of such magnitude ever since. Ocassionally, I have some nodules on my anus and groin, but they occur rarely and often finish by themselves. I also have acne like outbreaks at times. They are not severe and often finish within a few days leaving no scars. These are on my face and present as single acne bumps. Sometimes they can occur on other parts of my skin, but they always go away by themselves.
Avatar f tn Can anyone recommend an acne treatment for those cystic acne bumps that take forever to go away? I'm 46 and did Accutane in my 20s with pretty good results until the last several years. I've had the most success with Pro Active, but my skin got really itchy when I wore mineral powder makeup and I kept ruining towels, pillowcases and shirts. I've also tried Acne Free, Murad and Dermatologic plus prescription cream with no luck.
Avatar n tn I am searching for answers on a problem I have had most of my adult life. The only way to describe it is it looks and feels like a pimple on the shaft of my penis. On the surface it has a pin like hole and underneath the skin there is a small pouch where the acne gathers (I'm guessing???). About every other day in the shower I press the skin together and puss comes out much like a pimple will do. Nothing more nothing less, it doesn't ooze, leak or bleed unless I mess with it alot.
Avatar m tn Hello, For premature acne, if the acne is protected from the sunlight and sometimes an antioxidant treatment if applied in the initial stage to cure the lesions of acne then it can be cured at the beginning. Then medical treatment is the same as adult acne i.e initially benzoyl peroxide and topical antibiotics are used. But they are to be used under medical supervision and not one one’s own.
Avatar n tn I've been writing my skin problems off as acne, but my skin never seems to heal. Please tell me what type of skin problem I have. I am desperate to know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Oh, I'm sorry to hear about this. Skin problems are so emotional in nature too because of how we all are about our appearance. But you are not alone. When the health crisis blows over, seeing a dermatologist may be of benefit to you. They do have things they can prescribe. Retin-A is one of them. Some women also have success going on birth control pills when they have adult acne. Make sure your make up isn't contributing to the issue as well.
11083698 tn?1415151204 Hello, I have had a strong craving for salt for many years now. Close to seven years. I eat salt by itself everyday I feel like I need it. If I get to feeling really tired or weak I eat salt and I perk up. I also have bad adult acne, and I never really had acne as a teenager. I'm not sure if these two things are anywhere near related to each other, but if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
Avatar n tn Any calcification, increased vascularization, complex nodules?? With the solid nodules, lymph node involvement, and history of radiation as a teenager, please don't let your endocrinologist just "pooh-pooh" it.
1388445 tn?1289267388 About a year ago my husband started developing adult acne. He's 26 years old. Since then it has just gotten worse and worse. It now covers his cheeks, most of his fore-head and down his neck and its starting to scar. It seems like we've tried everything! over the counter acne soaps, creams, lotions, pro-active, prescrisption medication, good hygene; washing his face alot. Sometimes it gets to the white head but some are just bumps. it looks, like irritated.
Avatar f tn Strange thing is that after these nodules were removed her acne cleared up tremendously.. I would suggest seeing your regular doc and then a dermatologist if you don't get the answers you're looking for... Best of luck and if you're interested i can put you in contact with my sister if you need additional guidance our assistance..
Avatar n tn Depending on its severity, acne can lead to scarring of the skin. Some of the large nodules were previously called cysts and the term nodulocystic, as in your case. Acne treatment for mild cases usually involves self-care measures, such as washing your skin daily with a gentle cleanser and using topical antibiotics. On the other hand, acne treatment for severe cases usually includes one or more prescription medications.
Avatar f tn that was very noticable and some on the front of his chest that were much larger than acne. He said it was from adult chicken pox? He also had an enlarged lymph node on his neck. He is going to good school in the United States from out of the country and I'm very worried. I have started to develop slight symptoms such as yeast infection, a couple of days after I got sick (no fever), slight fatigue and now I think I might have a lesion on my tongue.
Avatar n tn Hi. My skin has always been clear but about six months ago I got acne. The acne on my face keeps spreading. It's starts off as very small bumps on my face which later get red and swell a little. I also have lots of whiteheads and my acne. I've tried tratree oil and niacinamida and none of them seem to work. Any ideas to what to put on my face?
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.
Avatar m tn Hi, I can't go to the student health center until tomorrow and I need some urgent advice. I've had this acne type infection on my chin for a year. I've been to the campus dermatologist once and the nurse twice and have been taking doxy antibiotics and using different topical antibiotic creams but last night an entire huge growth came out and I'm really freaked out about what to do.
Avatar f tn I am experiencing a severe breakout. I have larger nodules under the skin around my chin, jaw bone, and neck. They last for two weeks before they become painful and eventually come to a head. An esthetician recommended taking probiotics with a digestive enzyme, but that seemed to make it worse. I have tried medication, facials, microderms, etc... They only seem to make it better temporarily. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?
Avatar f tn Gastric issues are very common with hypothyroidism and not everyone with Hashimoto's gains weight. Beginning stages of Hashimoto's are often characterized by periods of hyperthyroidism, swinging to hypo and/or normal. Typically, it's best to start med before symptoms get so bad. There's no difference taking a thyroid med every day than taking vitamins/minerals, etc. "Do you think I should wait til I start to experience symptoms or should I start now?
Avatar f tn The Fleischner Society publishes guidelines for how to manage incidentally detected pulmonary nodules in adult patients who are at least 35 years old without history of cancer. There are many versions of this, published in 2005, 2013, and 2017, the most recent which can be accessed at the following URL: https://pubs.rsna.org/doi/10.1148/radiol.2017161659. Basically, if you can demonstrate at least 2 year stability, the pulmonary nodules are likely benign.
Avatar n tn Hello ladies, I am 31 years old and 18 weeks into my first pregnancy. I have had very mild adult acne for the past 5 years or so but with this pregnancy it has gone from mild to I don't even want to show my face severe. Can anyone offer any remedies? I follow a daily skin regimen and have never had this issue like this before, all the moms at work say the same thing: it's just hormones.
Avatar n tn Hi, Acne Vulgaris is the most common form of acne which includes several types of pimples. These acne lesions include blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts. Whiteheads result when a pore is completely blocked, trapping sebum (oil), bacteria, and dead skin cells, causing a white appearance on the surface. A pustule is similar to a whitehead, but is inflamed, and appears as a red circle with a white or yellow center.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone! What are your non-intestinal symptoms of Crohn's? How long did it take you to receive a diagnosis? Did the doctor's suspect a different GI issue first? I've been exhausted and hopeless with all the tests and trials to figure out whats wrong and none of my systems seem to be related with any other issue. I'm also very intoverted, so trying to even communicate what's wrong has been a struggle for me.
