Avatar m tn ) I mean much of the time the two young women are like hyperactive teenagers making a ridiculous amount of noise, laughing, playing around. When they go out, OMG, its like FINALLY the noise stops.
Avatar f tn my 5 year old son is diagnosed with ADHD, disruptive behavior and a mood disorder, and possibly depression and anxiety. he has been prescribed ritalin, medidate, depakote, and zoloft. all together. That seems to be alot of medication for a small young child. Im very worried for him, is this safe for him?
427258 tn?1266445242 If the only concerns are those of ADHD-type behavior, 4 is a little young in some people's opinions, but others think that 4 is ok for a diagnostic age. Since it seems like your son might have some other characteristics as well, it does not seem too young to me. Early intervention is the key to a lot of successful treatment. Good websites-- CHADD.org ADDitude Books -- Taking Charge of ADHD I can reccomend all of these -- very valuable resources.
Avatar f tn Well I dont think the ADHD would be a problem unless the child is prone to rages, personally I would supervise the play, the age gap is large and it may be good to encourage your child to play with children nearer his/her age group .
Avatar f tn While they are getting better at spotting it, finding ADD in women is hard especially since we rarely have ADHD (with that hyperactivity part) so it is more subtle. I guess I am lucky to have a good psyc that I have been working with for about 10 years so we have that level of trust and partnership... When I told my mom, boss and some close friends, EVERY SINGLE ONE said "and that surprises you how?!?!?!

Avatar n tn The baby is still young. Before you treat with medications, look at diet options or change activities. Other ways do exist. I would take medication at that young of an age as a last resort. Diet is a great way to start working on it. I changed my diet after I got clean from pain medications, and it amazed me how much difference a change in diet can make. Just an idea. Keep posting, im sure others have many good ideas as a starting place. Also an ADHD forum is on medhelp.
597354 tn?1227197932 The doctor was very concerned then about my grandson who is almost 5 and said we need to keep an eye on him. He has been diagnosed already with ADHD and is on meds for it (i hate that). My question is - do children have thyroid problems that young or is it usually later in life? It may sound like a stupid question to some people but I really don't know and I haven't had time to research it. I didn't really even consider that he could have a problem at such a young age.
Avatar f tn There is a new natural remedy used called L-theanine and you can read about it on the 700 club website at www.cbn.com/700club. In the search area type ADD/ADHD L-theanine or just type ADHD. This will show different remedies in the treatment of this disease. It also has an article on fish oil, as well. Which is another natural remedy used for ADD/ADHD. Also, you can get the book "The ADD Answer" or "The IQ Answer (maximizing your child's potential)" by Dr.

Avatar n tn He's very young to be prescribed stimulant medication. Aggression is not typical of children who display ADHD, so the fact that your son is aggressive casts doubt on the validity of the ADHD diagnosis. Making such a diagnosis for a child of two is very dubious. At the very least, even assuming the accuracy of the ADHD diagnosis, that does not explain his situation.
Avatar n tn s a side effect of any medication. Does the medication seem to be helping, four is young to be diagnosed with ADHD. He could have other issues from being adopted not from birth, who knows did he bond, did he have socialization in Korea??? Lots of questions???
Avatar f tn It takes a very, very good psyc to get an accurate IQ score on someone with ADHD. It is even more difficult with a young child. The medication helps your child focus during the test - makes all the difference in the world! I would also assume that your child will start making up for some lost time in school on reading and math - which should improve his scores even higher. Please let me know if you need any more info on kids with ADHD. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn But when inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior are the norm for a child, it may be a sign of ADHD. ADHD can lead to problems at home and at school, with family, teachers, and peers, so it’s important to identify the symptoms and get help.

Avatar f tn One thing that you may not be aware of is that they have recently redone the evaluation standards for ADHD. Children as young as 4 can now be evaluated. And while medication is not recommended at this age, behavioral therapy is recommended. I think that is highly important for people to know. Waiting until 8, is far too late in a childs life to offer them the help they need. By the way, I have several adult ADD sites with tons of helpful information aimed at adults with AD/HD.
Avatar f tn My overall question: Are young adults with ADHD also immature compared to their peers? I have read about kids being a few years behind in maturity, but not really about young adults or even older adults. I am 23 and was diagnosed with ADHD at 19 after going to a large university away from home and not being able to handle the freedom of time, class demands, partying, etc. I have graduated now after changing my major a zillion times and still have no idea what I want to do.
Avatar n tn When I Was Young About 4-5 I Was Diagnosed With ADHD. I Am Currently Pregnant With My First Child. I Don't Want Him/Her To Have To Go Thru What I Went Thru With The Pills & The Doctors Visits. So My Question Is It Hereditary? Can My Also Be Diagnosed With ADHD???
Avatar m tn Wait until your son is 5 or 6 to see if he has ADD/ADHD. When they are as young as your son is, they just do not have the motor skills or attendance like that of a 5 year old. The meds are not approved for any child younger than 5 and some not until 6.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that how much you show depends upon your body type. Thin women often show more than heavier ones. Women with strong muscles such as athletes will show less. If you think you are too big, you could discuss an ultrasound with your doctor, to rule out twins, Good luck!
