427258 tn?1266445242 My (very soon to be) 4 y/o old is going through evaluations to diagnose a possible learning disability since he's exhibited some concerns in pre-school. The evaluator has said she's sure he has ADHD, but also shows some traits of a child with asperger's syndrome (sp). Since at this time, ADHD is the only 'definitive' diagnosis, I was wondering if some one could tell me some webistes, or books they have read to help them understand it all and how to help my son.
1569126 tn?1295537080 Several good suggestions in this post - http://www.medhelp.org/posts/ADD---ADHD/my-3-year-old-son/show/1439476 Also check out the child behavior forum. Just scroll through and look for posts about "out of control 4 year olds" . You will find plenty of posts and good ideas. If you really want to follow up on the ADHD, you will probably have better luck with a pediatric psychiatrist then a pediatrician. Finally, Its probably a good idea to start reading up on ADHD.
Avatar f tn The trouble with the ADHD meds is that everyone is different. Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error to get it right. Good communication with your doctor is important. And if your doctor is a pediatrician - well, they don't always have the training to make the right choices. Anyway to answer your question. Personally, I don't think that homeopathy will help very much if they already have a good diet and are not allergic to any foods.
Avatar f tn I might be pregnant and I am taking antidepressents and a pill for my ADHD I dont find out if im pregnabt for another 3 Weeks but I am very curious could these medications affect my "baby" in any way during this kind of development?
Avatar n tn What are some websites that I can look on to see natural baby births ? I have 14 weeks until it's my time and I'm trying to see what I'll have to deal with .
9003081 tn?1401126498 I have terrible ADHD. Took Concerta for 10 years. For the last two years I have been without it. I am to begin studying for my RN in the fall. I am 20, with no insurance and without the Concerta I just know I will not make it through my classes. What are some alternatives???
1211960 tn?1272974502 I took a self test to deterime which kind of ADHD I had ( there are 6 different kinds.) The test results showed that I had Ring Of Fire ADHD. I was researching this specific type of ADHD and this is what I found: Type 6 -- The Ring of Fire. Cross between ADHD and bipolar disorder. Characterized by moodiness, aggressiveness, and anger. Anticonvulsants or newer antipsychotic medications tend to work better than stimulants. Now I am starting to doubt my diagnosis of bipolar.
Avatar n tn Yes, the two are different. The very first link I sent you explained the differences. The link was - http://www.help4adhd.org/en/about/what/WWK8 And yes most websites are geared more towards the ADHD kid. Probably because they are easier to recognize.
Avatar n tn Ok, I've got ADHD, I don't know if I have it bad or not. I used to be hyper, silly, etc. which was slightly annoying but it didn't get in the way too much. But it's sort of transformed now, into me thinking things over too much, maybe it's me being so uptight about keeping a lid on the hyperactivity that I think too much. But it means i try to change my personality when i'm around friends so i don't annoy them and end up making things worse.
Avatar f tn The only reason that I can think of for him being on Focalin is that he has ADHD. And ALL of the things that you describe are very typical behaviors for someone who has ADHD. Has his doctor bothered to tell you anything about ADHD? and what it can do to a child. Has anyone bothered to explain to him why he hates school and doesn't feel smart? For that matter has anyone explained to him why his meds are important? By the way, why doesn't he like the pill?
1779256 tn?1317546708 Does anyone know if this might be ADHD? Im realy frustrated. Andhate going to the doctor. he just keeps prescribing anti depressants. Wich I find weird because I am actualy happy, Just frustrated. I don'tknow what to do any more.
400885 tn?1297698918 The guy I'm kind of seeing is Bipolar and had ADHD as a kid. His Mother family has a Bipolar history and his father is bipolar. I'm pregnant and not Bipolar and not ADHD. No one in my family is bipolar or ADHD. Will my unborn baby be bipolar? What are the chances? I am so scared and I'm stressed out about this.
899943 tn?1241921120 ADHD medications can sometimes cause problems for people with bipolar but not always and they can often be helpful for ADHD. Look up the medication websites as well. Then you can discuss that issue further with them.

926067 tn?1245164945 I'm not sure what I am? I am going to a psychiatrist on a regular basis-almost a year now. I have been on several differnt depression meds & have had horrible withdrawal symptoms with some of the meds & such. I have also been diagnosed w/ADD. Currently I am taking Pristiq (50mg) and so far it is working now, after almost 4 weeks! i was almost ready to give up on it, too! I also take Adderall 20mg (2times a day) and feeling better.
1241412 tn?1268273088 The most important question is does she become this angry and violent person only with you? or also at school? If it is only happening with you, than she is somewhat in control of her actions. Don't blame her. Best resource appears to be," Lynn Clarks' book SOS: Help for Parents. If it is also happening at school than the meds aren't working. If this is happening at school you need to make sure she is tested for special ed.
707438 tn?1240959640 So my doctor said to me the other day that ADHD/ADD is only a childrens disorder and that adults cant have it. I for one highly disagree but was wondering about how others felt regarding Adult ADD/ADHD. All opinions are welcome but PLEASE be considerate about others thoughts and feelings.
Avatar f tn If you're into that, there is also a nasal spray version. You can google up Stan Kurtz to find a website on supposed treatment. I'm warning you, the person is not a doctor and he makes sure to put that disclaimer on his site. I'm also concerned about the "cure all" approach and claims on the site. (Claims to resolve everything from ADHD and autism to even getting rid of alcohol cravings.) If it does help, good, but to me it seems more faith based than actual science.
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
1018985 tn?1257523238 I am getting tons of mixed signals from websites, my doctors, and pharmacist. I just need a little support from others taking this medication, so I can base my experience on others, rather than what I am reading on the internet about it. I really dont like taking medication of any type.
1390055 tn?1365615055 I used to take ADHD medication to manage my condition beginning when I was about 13 years old. I am now 23. I continued this for about 5 or 6 years, and then gradually came down off of my medications. I had been put on a number of different medications at different times to see which medication worked best for me, and we finally settled on taking Concerta, and did this so for about 3 or 4 years.
Avatar m tn Sounds like brain fog/cognitive dysfunction. I like to call is space cadet syndrome lol. I spaced out randomly due to vitamin B12 deficiency. I had a sky high online score diagnosing my "ADD/ADHD" however my symptoms were from vitamin B12 deficiency. A couple of websites that list various reasons for brain fog include BRAIN FOG by Lawrence Wilson, MD, and from the Brain Harmony Centre: Brain fog - modern epidemic?
Avatar f tn The question I have is why hyperacusis is not listed as a disability/hearing impairment anywhere, in Canada and the US (and England) on Ministries of Health websites, and in point of fact, everyone diagnosed with it is excluded from all disability-related employment programs, let alone accommodation in the workplace.
