Avatar f tn I'm 32 years old and have struggled with both Adhd and weight problems. I went to see my doctor and he put me on phentermine 37.5mg once a day and topamax 23 mg in half doeses twice dailey. I also take adderall 20mg twice Dailey. I asked him if theses two meds who interact with one another and his response was no . I guess my question is how do I safely spread them out during the day. It seems I can't get it right because when I take either or I get very anxious .
Avatar f tn So I went and visited a general practitioner that specializes in weight loss. He prescribed Vyvanse to take in the morning then before bed I am supposed to take Topamax (migraine medicine) and Trintellix (an antidepressant) as well as a diet. I started on the Vyvanse mostly b/c I also suffer from ADHD and it is really great so far for my attention at work.
Avatar m tn Just a couple of months ago I was diagnosed ADHD, and Vyvanse was prescribed, along with clonidin. I have to really watch my blood pressure now, because if I miss taking the atenenol, my blood pressure will shoot up over 160 really quick. Is there any solution for people with 2 conditions like this where the medication for one condition diametrically opposes the medication for the second condition ? Would some other blood pressure medication work better than a beta blocker ?
14987738 tn?1437742035 In September of last year I was admitted for my depression, I was diagnosed with major depression disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, and ADD, I was put on Vyvanse 30 mg, Zoloft 50mg later upped to 100, Abilify 5mg, I was doing good when I got out, vyvanse has helped my concentration steady, I stopped Zoloft and Abilify months ago because they were no help but my vyvanse has been causing troubles, I feel more depressed, and depression runs on both sides of the family, I rarely sleep, I sometimes g
1218509 tn?1267490923 It was very smooth, it lasted around the 12-14 hours my Psychiatrist said it would, and I did not give me any side effects. I would highly recommend Vyvanse to anyone who needs a ADHD/ADD medication. I can only wish you the best experience with this medication once it is available by you.
1165577 tn?1263001618 Would switching from Adderal 30 mg to Vyvanse 20 mg cause me to gain weight? (or any other negative side effect?
Avatar m tn Hi Doc, I'm tired all the time and practically a person that is always in shambles. I'm 41 yrs old and diagnosed with ADHD because of my symptoms. I was prescribed Vyvanse. I took 20mg today but it put me to sleep. I was wondering if there was a possibility of me having thyroid problems because of this effect the Vyvanse had on me? I thought i was going to be focused and energized. Can you please let me know if this is the effect Vyvanse does to people with thyroid problems?
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? Avatar f tn When i was about 5 or 7 years old thats when my doctor told my mom i have ADHD. My doctor gave me to take Vyvanse and Strattera. The Vyvanse i take is 60mg capsules and for Strattera i take 60mg capsules to. I had problems over the years. I get distracted very easily but i try not to look or be distracted but its hard sometimes. especially when people are talking, making noise and being annoying is distracting me. There are other stuff i turn my attention to though.
Avatar m tn I have just been recently diagnosed with adult onset ADHD,I was prescribed 5mb abilify and 50mg Vyvanse. I was so glad to read your article on vyvanse because I was sooo scared to take it til today when I started. I needed the meds but didnt want my appetite suppressed like my son gets when he is taking focalin. What do you think about an 11yr old taking it? Also would it help with my son's suppressed appetite he has with focalin? Please help!
Avatar f tn None of the common adhd stimulant meds will cause weight gain and in fact might cause weight loss. All of these stimulant meds - when the correct dose is achieved - will limit impulsivity at school and at home. And, of course, if she starts doing better at school....her mood at home will also change. So do get back to me. I am really curious if she has actually tried any of the meds normally used to treat adhd. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.
Avatar n tn My question is this: Has anyone taken adhd medication such as vyvanse and is in recovery from adrugs and alcohol?
Avatar f tn My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack. Phenteramine does make you anxious,,, more so than the adderall or Concerta.
Avatar f tn Katie928, I can relate. But you may want to go back in and consult your psychiatrist. The reason I say this is b/c I too have ADHD but I also have Bipolar Disorder. I was first diagnosed w/BPD in 2006, a yr later my mind kept racing and I knew something wasn't right. Went back in to my doc. What often happens, and this is proven thru research, is that someone w/a chemical inbalance disorder has a 60% higher chance at having another disorder.
Avatar m tn He is not addicted. It doesn't work that way. I would say that these are signs for someone who needs his medication adjusted. It certainly does sound like an overdose. If he did not have ADHD, that much stimulants would wire him higher than a kite. Since he has gone the opposite way, I think the dosage is too high. This is something that his doctor needs to know about. I also think that there is a serious communication problem going on and I blame that on the doctor.
Avatar n tn He was put on to concerta with many side effects.no appetite weight loss and extreme rebound effect at night which was unbearable. During that time I discovered neurotherapy and he started sessions 3 times a week. He improved markedly in his, concentration and focus in class and behaviour and meds were stopped. Since then his hyperactivity anger tantrums and impulsiveness has returned after 4 months but his schoolwork seems the same and is doing well at school, he is now 7yrs old.
Avatar f tn I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?
Avatar n tn If you have ADHD, the stimulants definitely help---when I first went on vyvanse it made a world of diffference. when we lost our insurance, my husband did not want me to go off of it---so we payed through the nose for it for a couple of months--then I had to switch to a cheaper one---which did not work as well. I guess you probably don't have to worry about the stimulants effect on your adrenals as much since you need to treat your adrenals anyway.
Avatar f tn Her psychiatrist diagnosed her with ADHD, put her on Vyvanse ( an amphetamine) - she gained weight. I took her to the High BMI Clinic , we put her on a 1600 calorie a day diet, she drinks only water and tea, kept a diet diary, cut back TV to less than 2 hrs daily, increased exercise to 1 hr almost daily - she has gained weight. Had thyroid checked - levels are normal. Can anyone help us?
