Common Questions and Answers about Adhd symptoms test

adhd

Avatar f tn A hyperactive child may blow through a test (and get them all right or all wrong). The ADHD child will never finish the test (at least until, they have learned they will always fail and they just give up or mark things that don't make sense). I have had kids that I gave 3 days to take a test, and they barely finished. Homework is probably one of the best clues. If most kids take one hour for homework, the ADHD child will take 3 hours and probably still not be done.

Avatar f tn best thing you can do is take a pregnancy test to put your mind at ease, if you still have these symptoms and the test is negative go to your doctor because it could be a number of things.
1211960 tn?1272974502 I took a self test to deterime which kind of ADHD I had ( there are 6 different kinds.) The test results showed that I had Ring Of Fire ADHD. I was researching this specific type of ADHD and this is what I found: Type 6 -- The Ring of Fire. Cross between ADHD and bipolar disorder. Characterized by moodiness, aggressiveness, and anger. Anticonvulsants or newer antipsychotic medications tend to work better than stimulants. Now I am starting to doubt my diagnosis of bipolar.
6658361 tn?1384717351 If your question is do they test for adhd in new borns, the answer is no. The only test I know of is a brain scan - which is expensive and not something that you would want to put a young child through. Furtermore, I am not sure how accurate it is. You do have reasons for concern since ADHD is hereditary. But, if neither your or his dad have it, your chances would go down.
Avatar m tn By the way, I have seen several studies that show that sleep apnea can produce ADHD like symptoms. In fact, there have been several posters on here that have had sleep apnea, been treated and their daytime behaviors definitely changed. Has anybody ever commented about you snoring or breathing loud at night? "Regardless of type, an individual with sleep apnea is rarely aware of having difficulty breathing, even upon awakening.
Avatar f tn First, I don't know how old your child is ...as that makes a difference. Yes, he could have normal results since this is a test designed to be "used for assessing the core symptoms of ADHD: hyperactivity, inattention and impulsivity." Furthermore, the makers of the test say that, "The QbTest results should always be complemented by a clinical interview." Did these doctors interview your child or give any questionnaires to you or his teachers?
Avatar f tn For now, medications should control the symptoms and psychosocial support can tame the manifestations of adhd as well. Regards and God bless...
327385 tn?1378360731 Sounds like your talking about my daughter, and she has ADHD. They started her off on Adderal XR, but she is now on Vyvance (sp). She did and does all the things you have listed, including the stealing and not knowing why. Your best bet is to try and find a peds doctor that specializes in ADD/ADHD. If she is found to have ADHD, so of the things she does might not go away, like the stealing.
Avatar f tn I have also had many, many kids with ADHD. I have had kids who I gave two to three days to finish a 25 question test. I have had a least two who died shortly after highschool. In short, I have seen both sides. All I want people to do is to recognize that the situation does exist. That there is more than one way to handle it. That it can be horrible for a child or an adult if they have ADHD and can't cope.
Avatar m tn If the amphetamines he takes to control the symptoms of his ADD/ADHD are prescribed by a doctor and he can provide proof of that, then no, they cannot fire him if the amphetamines show up in a routine urine/hair drug test.

Avatar f tn I have heard of ADHD symptoms, I heard that it is much more easier to have fights if you have ADHD also ADHD kids act mostly, hyper, either violent(Not all), Overreacting over mainly little things. Sometimes they wonder in there own world. Having Aspergers can be different in many ways, Aspergers is when your child is having emotional problems maybe even getting embarrassed, shy, difficult education maybe even speech problems.
5757880 tn?1395578022 But, I think, from all I have read that ADHD is the biggest cause as the person tries to cope with the ADHD. And frankly, if you were a part of it or not, doesn't matter. What does matter is that you are a part of helping him deal with it. In terms of your anxiety question. My go-to-guy for this is Dr. Charles Parker at Corepsyc. I had to go back over a lot of stuff to find specific answers.
Avatar f tn Ferritin is a test for adults? O_o "Serum ferritin is the most accurate test indicating iron status within normal range as well as iron deficiency and excess. In a young growing child, who has got a very delicate balance between iron stores, requirement and supply, it is very essential to diagnose iron deficiency at a stage before it results in hypochromic microcytic anaemia." - Iron Deficient Children and Significance of Serum Ferritin.
Avatar f tn Well, they do have many of the symptoms of ADHD. And the fact that this is happening at school as well as at home is an important part of the symptoms. You are a good mother to try and find out what is causing this behavior - and if they do have ADHD that would explain why your discipline methods have not worked. The following is a good site with info on the symptoms (and lots of other things) on ADHD. Check it out - http://www.help4adhd.
Avatar f tn Blood labs will not diagnose ADHD; that's a behavioral/psychological issue. TSH is a test that helps determine thyroid function, but that's not all he needs. TSH of 6.30 indicates that your son might have hypothyroidism. He also needs Free T3 and Free T4, which are the actual thyroid hormones.
Avatar f tn Actually, research tends to indicate that very few people with anxiety also suffer from ADHD/ADD, although, of course, that is always a possibility. Most people with anxiety have ADHD symptoms but, in fact, do not have ADHD (this is why so often one will read that Ritalin or similar medication is not working). I also believe that mild/moderate anxiety can be helped with herbal and/or natural remedies. So, why not try this route as a first option.
Avatar m tn I also have a sinus infection for which I took two consecutive 10 day cycles of cypro, and am now beginning another cycle of levoquin. I also take 50mg vyvanse for adhd. The bumps have been increasing in number, and are all over the place in my genatalia region. They are not blisters, but more of a pimple type, and they vary from small to large. This is the first outbreak of any kind down there I have had, and it is very scary.
Avatar n tn I watched a Lifetime segment about a new device, called the Quotient ADHD System, which can objectively test for ADHD by measuring motion and attention parameters in children and adults. Has anyone heard of this device? Here is a link to the video http://bit.
Avatar f tn I did some research on some stuff that has been going on with me since I was a child and I strongly think I could be add/adhd. I know that I am no doctor and cannot diagnose myself but every time I bring up testing me for this my psychiatrist just kind of shrugs it off saying that it could be something else and while I do respect that she is more educated in this than me I also do not see the harm in a test.
