327385 tn?1378360731 A person with undiagnosed ADHD or ADD can react like your daughter is doing. Basically, she is giving up - an thats not good. An appointment with a specialist is highly recommended. I also recommend that you start reading up on ADHD to see how it affects kids. A good starting point is here. http://www.help4adhd.org/about/what/WWK8 There is lots of info here so take your time reading it. She also sounds like she might have Sensory Processing (or Integration) disorder.
Avatar n tn and it also improved personal relationships in my life... my own symptoms (although adult symptoms usually include less of the hyperactive symptoms and focus mainly on the attention symptoms): difficulty finishing tasks, difficulty starting tasks, difficulty paying attention, losing my keys and other every-day-items, extremely inappropriately hyper and inattentive in large groups of people, i talk way too fast, i jump from subject to subject while talking.... <- some of my symptoms.
Avatar f tn my boyfriend of a year and a half has had adhd since he was younger. he is 24 now. i've always known he's had it, but i guess i never really looked up the symptoms and what exactly it did to a person. we've had a lot of relationship problems for the past year. the first 6 months of the relationship were amazing. he was so into the relationship, he was always doing little things for me and bringing me little gifts and making me things and being the best boyfriend in the world.
Avatar m tn Honestly, I don't really know a lot about OCD. I did notice, though, that some of your symptoms are similar to symptoms my sister has. She has been diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger's (form of autism). I really think you should find someone who can listen to you and find a diagnosis that will hopefully make more sense to your situation. Once that can get accomplished, they will be able to help you manage these symptoms better.

Avatar n tn I am a mom of 9 year old ADHD boy. He got diagnosed as ADHD 2 years ago. We tried different medicine on different doses; but the side effects really worry me. So, we are looking for some alternative treatment to help him. I appreciate any comments on the NeuroFeedBack or any other possible treatments. Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn I have done tons of research online and I cant find one thing that my symptoms point towards. By what I have been reading i am leaning more towards an anxiety problem. I cannot afford health insurance so I cannot see myself going in for another long set of random test with no guarantee they will figure it out so I am here hoping someone may have an idea. - I have constant uncontrollable thoughts. They are not about one specific thing, almost random even.
Avatar f tn I have heard of ADHD symptoms, I heard that it is much more easier to have fights if you have ADHD also ADHD kids act mostly, hyper, either violent(Not all), Overreacting over mainly little things. Sometimes they wonder in there own world. Having Aspergers can be different in many ways, Aspergers is when your child is having emotional problems maybe even getting embarrassed, shy, difficult education maybe even speech problems.
Avatar f tn A psychiatrist has much more training and experience in managing medication and symptoms of ADHD. Then I would ask for a referral to a psychologist, licensed counselor or behavior specialist who can help you put him on a positive behavior plan. You want to get him back on track with doing tasks such as homework, studying and organizing, and these can be very challenging goals to achieve without professional help.
Avatar m tn Yes, risperdal is commonly added when someone is diagnosed with adhd. What symptoms did you have prior to the adhd? What kind of testing did you have? Any issues when ON medication should be brought to the attention of the doctor who prescribed it. That's really important. And also letting them know about any other meds you take from any different care providers.
Avatar f tn First I would work really hard at learning your own moods, triggers, symptoms etc and recording all the strategies you have for keeping yourself stable. Get yourself well prepared for instability and how best you can keep yourself stable if you feel it. In the beginning of relationships there can be a lot of emotion, anxiety, anticipation etc, so you'll be able to manage any symptoms and see if there is a possibility for the relationship to progress further.
Avatar f tn I am also scared of this being passed down to our son because we have constant behavior issues. I honestly have to wonder if he had adhd or is he just reacting to his father that is emotionally unstable. At what point do I say enough is enough? I do not want to expose myself or our kids to this erratic behavior. His impulsivity is out of control. Its like he lacks common sense and is not capable of adult rationalization. Is there anything I can do to help.
Avatar n tn Your son may well display ADHD, but it is important to arrange a thorough evaluation and not rush too quickly to the diagnosis. The on-line surveys can be useful tools to see if a person might display symptoms typical of ADHD, but a thorough assessment will consider a child's medical history, family history, current functioning at home and in school, possible alternative explanations for the symptoms identified on the surveys, etc.
Avatar f tn t diagnosed, but had lots of symptoms. Also I am surprised they diagnosed him ADHD when he has two bipolar parents. I've read some articles on how bipolar mimics ADHD and ADHD mimics bipolar, and there are subtle differences that may be missed either way. So the best thing to do is get him in to see a psychiatrist that specializes in children. Since she has no insurance have her look into state programs if you live in the US.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar m tn Thre are natural things you can take and do to subside the symptoms. I hust learned that if you cut out all yellow food dye in your diet, it may help. Good luck!
1454650 tn?1285249763 I have ADHD and it has impacted on all aspects of my life (relationships, jobs etc.) but what I didn't reckon on was the impact it was have on my life as a new father. I have gotten worse since my daughter wa sborn a year ago. I love her very much but I am finding it extremely and increasingly difficult to cope. I fly off the handle more than i ever did before. I can't stand her crying and screaming, it feels like my head is going to inplode.
1764615 tn?1313515647 Hey Katie, a lot of this is normal (unfortunately) for someone with ADHD. In the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley, she says that girls are more accurate and honest in their self-perceptions. They report more problems with self-esteem, depression, family relationships, and peer rejections than boys. Girls self-awareness may be the reason they have three times more depression than AD/HD boys (p.
Avatar m tn Attachment problems or disorders may show similar symptoms like ADHD and Autism spectrum disorders, and the doctor need to evaluate all factors to make a right diagnosis. It is so impossible to say if she has ADHD or not, but she should be evaluted both for ADHD and attachment problems or disorders.
Avatar f tn If it is only happening only at school, then one would think the trigger is school related. Something like ADHD or ADD ( has a lot of the symptoms). The school environment - be it the teachers or the kids. Have you looked at the symptoms of ADHD?
Avatar f tn I’m worried and don’t want to be around him but he lives with us full time. He is ADHD and they say he has a mild form of Autism although I don’t see it. My husband thinks I’m over reacting and boys so this stuff. Well I e raised my son already and he sure didn’t do anything like this!! Any helpful info would be nice, I love my husband but don’t want his son anywhere near me.
Avatar f tn I recently went to my doctor for a routine ailment and he questioned whether I had ever been assessed for ADHD given some traits he noticed during our many consultations over the years. Long story short I went to a psychiatrist and got a definitive diagnosis of ADHD and began taking dexamphetamine (dexedrine i believe is the US "version").
447130 tn?1225470866 My son has been told that he may have a touch of ADD since he has trouble focusing in school. I personally don't believe it's ADD since I have ADD I can recognize the signs & symptoms. He has great relationships with others and is a very kind hearted 9 year old, he just gets fidgety in class sometimes. Both his Dad and I do not want to put him on medication at this point and I'm wondering if there are any herbal or vitamin alternative treatments to help alieviate the figeting?
327385 tn?1378360731 Sounds like your talking about my daughter, and she has ADHD. They started her off on Adderal XR, but she is now on Vyvance (sp). She did and does all the things you have listed, including the stealing and not knowing why. Your best bet is to try and find a peds doctor that specializes in ADD/ADHD. If she is found to have ADHD, so of the things she does might not go away, like the stealing.
