Hi JoJo, I am a 30 yr old female and I take a combo of Adderall XR and regular Adderall Here is my schedule: 6am: 20mg xr 10am: 10mg regular 1pm: 20mg xr AND 10mg regular 4pm: 10mg regular So, it's by bodyweight 1mg per 1kg of weight: I weigh 70kg, so 70mg is just right for me, I find that it lasts through 8-9pm, then I take 1mg klonopin to help with the "drop off" and to help me fall asleep.
About four years ago, I started meds for depression, anxiety, and ADD. (I should have started long before this.) I take Adderall XR for my ADD, and tried a few antidepressants before settling on Zoloft. After about six months, my doctor added Wellbutrin XL because I felt really apathetic. (She wanted to keep me on the Zoloft because it helps more with anxiety, though I'm not 100% sure this was necessary.) I have to say that I really like Wellbutrin.
Do they make me hungry therefore you eat more and gain. Or do you just gain weight without changing any eating habits? Same thing with losing. I am way too scared to gain weight right now. The pharmacist said there is no weight-gain side-effect but everywhere I look on the internet says otherwise.
However, in children of small stature, particularly those who already are on the picky end of the spectrum when it comes to eating, weight loss (or failure to achieve adequate weight gain) can result. It sounds like your son's diet is pretty deficient in protein intake, so it would be wise to try to increase the range of protein rich foods he will eat. Consider soy-based products that can be used in milkshakes.
I was not at all fond of the ritalin and stopped it almost immediately, but continued the zoloft (increasing to 100mg) The zoloft had a positive effect on my social interactions, I was more outgoing, more able to stand up for myself, in general no longer paralyzed by 'what people thought of me.' When I started to develop a slight apathy, and weight gain related to that apathy, I was reduced to 50mg zoloft.
Hello I just started taking effexor xr with my adderall and trileptal! After reading the comments here on this site i feel like I want to stop taking the effexor before i get any more of it into my system. I called to see if I could take these meds together and i was told that you shouldn't take any thing like effexor ect.. with adderall cause it will cause problems. also i don't want to gain any weight.
I took Adderall XR for six years and am currently 67 days clean. My dosage was 60-70 mg. I am 27 years old. How long until my energy is back and I am feeling "normal" again? Anyone have personal experiences as far as that goes? Also, how much weight did you gain and does it ever come off naturally? Any thoughts on metabolism? Thanks, everyone.
It does help with the ADHD. I also suffer from depression and being overweight just adds to it.
I should also mention that I am on 30 mg of Adderall XR for ADD. My Dr. decided to switch me to Wellbutrin XR which would also help me quit smoking. He had me drop down to 75 mg of the Effexor for a few days, then to 37.5 for another 2-3 days. The first day off the Effexor, I experienced increasing nausea, vertigo and a "slushy" head. The next two days, the symptoms increased. There was some confusion as to whether it was the Wellbutrin or the Effexor that was causing the symptoms.
Unfortunately all the antidepressants cause weight gain and does it so suck! I have only been taking Effexor XR for about 3 months and I have gained about 7-8 lbs. I am having unbelievable cravings for carbs. mostly sugary sweets. I have been on Paxil in the past and I also found myself gaining weight on it, too. I believe both meds did help in my mild depression but it was too much of a risk to keep taking them and gaining, gaining and gaining.
I'm not sure what it does to your body chemistry, but I did not gain weight, and I had lots of energy, so I stayed very active, ran and did weight training. And did not really need to try to watch my weight during this time. I quit taking the Wellbutrin because I was trying to get pregnant with my second child. I went about 3 more years without having another episode of depression, and now here I am again.
My son is 12 and weighs 62 pounds, on a good day. He is ADHD and taking Adderall XR. His doctor says there is nothing wrong with him but he hasn't been able to put on any weight in the past 2 years or so. His eating habits go back and forth. Some days he can eat a lot and other days he eats very little or hides his food. For the past year he has used the Carnation Breakfasts before school, eats the school's breakfast and lunch, has a snack after school, and eats dinner.
been on adderall for like 10 years and no matter how long i'm off it, i still can't get my energy back. I gain weight, can't get it off. i try to be active and eat healthy and still can't get energy level back to normal. it's such a disadvantage that i started taking it again. i hate this cycle.
Adderall is a name stored deep in my brain and, naturally when the word adderall is mentioned, my brain lights up. When someone says I have to do my homework or play chess... "awwww Adderall helped so much with my homework…. Where can I get some?" is the first thing that comes to mind. I believe the way to solve this problem, and it clearly is a big problem because it leads to remission, is to make a very formal point do the task without Adderall NO MATTER HOW HARD IT SOUNDS.
Have other people gained weight from Effexor XR? Starting Monday I am going to exercise and/or walk everyday so that hopefully I can lose some weight! Thanks for any information...
but meds affect people in all different ways I just started taking it for pcos and insulin resistance has only been a couple days so far so Ill let you all know, but pcos cause weight gain and the insulin resistance causes the pcos so the insulin resistance is treated first with metformin which should help with the weight loss because you need to loose weight in order for the pcos to get better and the resistance problem goes away......................
I would probably talk to the doctor about bringing them off this medicine. I am 36 and couldn't tolerate Adderall, i was nervous, almost paranoid, moody..and it eventually seemed to make my ADD worse. I'm off it now and feel a thousand percent better. It took me about 5 months though before my body started making enough of it's own dopamine and I stopped feeling fatigued and depressed (it was progressive though). I take 5htp now and L tyrosine, both can help with ADD.
, i lost it, was put on Cymbalta, and that made me gain 100lbs. Cymbalta is actually known far and wide for weight gain. Everyone reacts differently to any drug, but most people gain. Cymbalta also has the worst withdrawal symptoms - I thought I was nuthouse crazy or dying. I was then put on Topomax, which actually promotes weight loss (it can upset your stomach at first, but it DOES go away after your body gets used to it, PROMISE) and I lost about 40lbs in the first 2 to 2 1/2 months.
I just recently got off of adderall xr 20mg because I had a severe panic attack and had to be rushed to the emergency room, The problem is that I already had panic attacks before. The doctor put me on Zoloft and it worked out great for me. The only problem was that I got depressed over gaining weight. I am now back on it. But I still want to be on the adderall, but I am scared my body won't react right to it. I really want to LOSE weight and not gain.

-I’m also a full time student who just changed careers to get my PhD in Clinical Psychology and am working on finishing up some credits as a senior prior to entering Grad school, as not all of my credits transferred into the School of Arts and Sciences from Computer Information Science Degree.
kidney pain, this potent urine, weakness/faintness, skin apearing transluscent and colorless, constipation and weight gain. Can someone please help me understand if these symptoms or illness is caused by my amphetamine addiction?
im finding that even with this lowered dose im still stimulated and get angry again, but i am still trying to loose more weight and im worried that if i stop taking this i will gain weight and i wont be able to pay attention. but the more stimulative effect seems to be telling me that maybe i have grown out of my ADHD. can anyone help?
My first experience with Abilify was an abnormal one (so please do not take this too seriously, as it seems I was an exception), since it threw me into a manic state; however, my Psychiatrist has come to the conclusion that I'm just wired completely different. After being weaned off the stuff for about a week, my Psychiatrist put me back on it, but a fourth of what I was taking.
Prior to our pregnancy plan, my doctor has had me on 30 MG of Adderall XR (the ADHD drug) a day which is combined with 5 MG of Proamatine every 3-4 hours. I cannot tell you what relief these medications bring. I am able to get up and go to work (as a teacher) and function at a normal level on a daily basis. My doctor's name is Blair Grubb and he is connected to Toledo University's College of Medicine.
I have suffered from lifelong depression and insomnia and currently take pristiq, which is ok, not great but it's the only stuff with no weight gain and since I have been on and off prednilosone so much and so much injections, i have gained almost 70 pounds and weighed almost 200 pounds. I'm only 5'4", so this doesn't help me. I also have 5 herniated discs in my lower back and 3 in my neck.
My doctor prescribed me 10 mg of Adderall XR (the capsule form) and I have been taking it in the morning before breakfast. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take for it to work, but I honestly haven't felt any different. My mind is still fuzzy and wanders constantly, I can't sit still. Does anyone know if its normal for it to not work for the first few days? Also, does anyone know if drinking caffeine is bad while on Adderall?
