Common Questions and Answers about Adderall xr and side effects

adderall

side effects of over taking adderall xr. How long do they last and can there be long term side effects?
I guess that I'm kind of nervous about taking the Adderall XR after reading about all the possible side effects. Realistically I know that my doctor would not have prescribed it if she did not think it was safe and I was given all the information, plus I did research. I guess what I'm looking for here are others who might be on the same medications (or similar) and some words of encouragement. thanks in advance.
One other thing-the adderall gives me tremors and other involuntary movements, including the inability to smile and other unfavorable side effects. If I took a beta blocker like Inderal, would this stop the adderall from working effectively? Thank you very much!
I am currently doing research for an upcoming book which deals with the side effects and withdrawals people have experienced from Effexor XR and other (like) anti-depressants. I am interested in receiving any information current or former users would like to share concerning their experiences with these drugs. Please email me @: beach-***@**** and thanks!
I would be interested in hearing from the members here who have taken both Adderall and Adderall XR what their opinions are about the extended release. Is there less of a "crash" when it wears off? Was it as effective as the regular Adderall? That sort of thing. I'm curious as to why for a single medication choice the regular would be chosen by a healthcare provider over the extended release. Hope to hear from you all!
Children who take Adderall for long periods should be carefully monitored for these Adderall side effects by having their height and weight measured regularly. Other Adderall Side Effects Other Adderall side effects can include significant loss of appetite, mood changes, insomnia, dry mouth, and headaches. What is happening now? The FDA convened an advisory panel to discuss how to evaluate Adderall safety and the safety of all ADHD medications in February 2006.
(At least for me, it took about a month before I became adjusted to the side effects and the mood changes to subside - I even switched doses before I found a happy medium between being able to focus and not 'crash' later in the day). Good luck hope this helps!
Hi JoJo, I am a 30 yr old female and I take a combo of Adderall XR and regular Adderall Here is my schedule: 6am: 20mg xr 10am: 10mg regular 1pm: 20mg xr AND 10mg regular 4pm: 10mg regular So, it's by bodyweight 1mg per 1kg of weight: I weigh 70kg, so 70mg is just right for me, I find that it lasts through 8-9pm, then I take 1mg klonopin to help with the "drop off" and to help me fall asleep.
I began 20mgs of Adderall XR/daily a couple weeks ago. I have had several smaller side effects since the beginning including: appetite suppression, changes in sexual ability/desire and slightly increased heartrate (i'm a runner so my heartrate is about 80bpm resting, but 30 - 40 bpm faster than normal) additionally, I sweat more while on adderall. Very recently, I noticed a weird sporadic feeling in my body.
If you experience any strange side effects like hallucinations, delusions, irritability, depending on the severity you may need to contact your doctor. The maximum dosage prescribed is around 40 mg XR and it's set at that limit for a reason. Long-term use at excessively high doses can cause amphetamine induced psychosis. Please use discretion when taking stimulants, while tolerance does build rapidly it is possible to maintain a consistent amount of efficacy at a constant dose.
My daughter has been on Adderall imediate release twice a day for a year now for ADHD and has no side effects. She actually is a better eater and sleeps better with it. I am not sure why you take it but i do know that the XR did give her bad side effects. She was more hyper and was losing weight. Maybe you could try the 20 milligrams of the immediate release instead of the XR twice a day or even a lower dose. You maybe sensitive to the high of a dose.
Many doctors have different ideas on what my problem is i gotten to the point i only use medicine that i think works because of side effects. iv been on Valium forever it stops my paranoia some of my anxiety and insomnia and vertigo too much benzo has paradoxical effect. I just started Adderall 20mds XR First day was bad i figured cause my anxiety.
I would make sure that you are not taking the XR adderall. Also you can get Adderall in 5mg doses. I would try that at 4pm and see what happens. Anyway, best wishes - it sounds like things are going good for you! Happy Holidays!

Right now I don't have any side effects except if I get less than 7 hrs of sleep then I do get tired even on the adderall xr. The side effects went away about a month after I started on the 25mg. I'm going to see a psychiatrist soon and have been trying to decide which one to go with now that I can afford it. I'm probably going to stay on the adderall xr and maybe see if I can get 1 or 2 adderall ir to add to my day. It says they last 4-6 hrs.
My girls are on Concerta and it helps with their ADHD, and they dont have any bad side effects. I know all kids are different, but you may want to talk to the doc about it and give it a shot.
Now, I am giving him half the capsule (which I know is not evenly dispursed) but it is helping him in school and he no longer grinds his teeth, which is one of the side effects that this medication has. I would get a second opinion to see if what they recommend. Good luck.
I would really encourage you to complain about any possible side effects especially since usual side effects like dry mouth go away within a few months, sometimes other more serious side effects take longer to occur. For example, I've taken adderall for about 5 years. I need to take a break from it every so often because it affects my quality of sleep and it begins to wear on me.

Im a current addict (i abuse it) of this drug and Im struggling to get off it. Adderall can have many many side effects. If your son keeps having those symptoms try and talk to your doctor.
I took a break for about 6 months, and now, going back to school I have started back up on Adderall 20 mg XR capsule. I see more side effects with this med than I ever did with the IR- Headaches, "lump in throat" 5 hrs in, severe appitite suppresion, and nausea to the point that I have to lay down for up to 2 hours.
Hey all, The Psychiatrist said he was willing to treat the symptoms that I'm experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
my son was on adderall and then concerta and they both have the side effect that can cause seizures. and now he has seizures and the medicine is not working. I give him Vitamin B6 and Omega 3-6-9 every day and it has helped him with his learning ,beside him having great teachers.
I have been on adderall xr 20 mg and wellbutrin SR 50mg for a few months now. I have an eating disorder, OCD, ADD, depression and a general anxiety disorder. My psychiatrist and I recently decided that I would stop the wellbutrin and go up to 25 mg of Adderall. It has been 3 days now and I am finding that I am extremely "stuck" in my own thoughts/fantasies, I feel like I am living in a dream world and have no motivation.
But I really hate their side effects and REALLY don't want to end up like other users on here. I know, the solution I am looking for does not exists. So I don't really know what to do. Cant live with them, cant live without them. Same old love-hate relationship that several other users experience. If you can suggest something or whatever the would help, I would appreciate it.
Hi, My dad (70 yrs) has Parkinson's Disease with all the tremors, tiredness, and depression that seems to go with it. I (his daughter, 43 yrs old) currently take 30 mg Adderall XR for Adult ADD. We went on a trip this last weekend, and I very kindly (lol) shared a few of my Adderall with him - at my mother's suggestion. Here's the thing, he LOVED it! He said it was the first time in about 20 years that his depression had been "lifted" for a while.
I am currently taking 225 mg of wellbutrin and 90 mg of Adderall xr. I have built tolerance I believe to the Adderall and it stopped working at that dose. I have tried several psychiatrists to help me address this issue to no avail. I have tried other medications for add but this one is the one that my body adjusts to better. Unfortunately, as you know this dose is high , and I haven't had any luck getting a doctor who could increase a bit or give me another solution.

' When I started to develop a slight apathy, and weight gain related to that apathy, I was reduced to 50mg zoloft. About a year later I was prescribed adderall (10mg XR) and noticed it had a tremendous effect on my attention and concentration. When I graduated from college and got into the routine of the working world everything fell apart. My slight apathy became crippling, virtually destroying my social life.
I would really appreciate hearing from other users of Adderall and marijuana to hear if anyone has suffered similar side effects. I would also really appreciate a serious tone to the nature of comments. I cannot stress enough how serious this post is meant to be. The only reason I have not contacted my doctor is for fear he will tell my already over-stressed parents who worry too much about me.
