Common Questions and Answers about Adderall vs concerta vs ritalin

concerta

Avatar f tn There definately is a difference between Ritalin and Adderall. Adderall is stronger. For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? 1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar f tn was on adderall for 4 months 10 mg a day and now have switched to ritalin (its a long story) and 5mg not enough so i went up to another 5 a day. Seems to help but i feel abit impatient, given to impatience and easily annoyed lately is anyone experiencing these as sdie effects? I also take celexa and wellbutrin for depression and adderal was introduced because i was becoming depressed again feeling unmotivated and frankly lethargic....i worry i am doing a "bad" thing to my head....
Avatar f tn adderall and concerta both have seizures as a side effect along with other bad side effects, and so do all other medicines. you can to see if it is worth the risk. Have you tried taken vitamins like omega 3 and vitamins b6. most drugs ware off. best of luck to you.
636964 tn?1222990085 Have him try Concerta, done nothing for me, but ritilan was better. Adderall, i have been taking for 3 yrs and it works for me.
Avatar m tn I tried provigil, stratera, wellbutrin, lexapro, celexa, Prozac, paxil adderal, and concerta. Concerta is ritalin (methylphenidate hcl) but the delivery system is different and is supposed to be more effective but it's wicked expensive. My medication doesn't make everything all better for me. I'm not able to go out and do normal things just because I take the pills. I was never able to just do normal things. The medication does make things much easier but it doesn't work magic.

1549092 tn?1297046311 I think you will find the information useful as it compares Vyvanse vs Adderall XR. Do make sure you also click on their ADHD link at the top of the page once you have finished reading. The site is - http://healthlifeandstuff.com/2009/07/vyvanse-vs-adderall-simple-vs-complex. You also might want to check out another very good site for adult ADD. Its has a different approach to the matter as it is all done with videos and was recently featured in a special on PBS.
Avatar f tn It also stated that the FDA called for stronger warning labels for stimulant drugs used to treat common types of Attention Deficit DisordersADD, The biggest change was to amphetamine-containing drugs for ADHD, Adderall and Dexedrine and Methylphenidates such as Concerta and Ritalin.
9003081 tn?1401126498 I have terrible ADHD. Took Concerta for 10 years. For the last two years I have been without it. I am to begin studying for my RN in the fall. I am 20, with no insurance and without the Concerta I just know I will not make it through my classes. What are some alternatives???
Avatar f tn Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. Both of my adult children are on Adderall and are doing fine. My doc keeps telling me that Concerta & Adderall are 'too addictive' ... what the heck ... I am not looking to get high or anything ... I just want to be able to have a med to make my ADD manageable.
Avatar n tn my son is 7 years old and has adhd, after years of doing all the things we were told to do-behavior tech-counslers,theripy etc.my son have now been put on adderall 10 xr ,that had no effect so the doc said up it a little bit so now he is taking 20mgs a day xr-still no difference in his behavior.do we up the meds again.
Avatar n tn i find i can concentrate much better now and get on with alot of things i couldnt before, however, i get side effects from taking it, i lose my appeitie alot of the time so therefore i have very little control over my weight lose/gain, I also take Temazepam at night to try and help me sleep as that can sometimes be rather hard to wind down. this is also a side effect of Ritalin. i take a form of Ritalin called Concerta which is a 12 hour slow release.
305005 tn?1358728290 They were diagnosed years ago and also was on adderall it made them angry and aggressive, concerta has worked much better also tried straterra was the drug from hell for my 14 yr old he also has impulse behaviors you just have to go by trial and error what works for one does not work for all. I also find that after take a medicine for a while the dosage is no longer effective or the medicine itself is not seems like an immunity can built. Any way hope this helps.
Avatar m tn at CAMHS(Child and adolescent mental health services) I was informed that my son will no longer be eligble to receive prescriptions for Concerta(methylphenidate). This will be due to a large backlog in the NHS and they can only offer support/receive funding for children upto the age of 16. I was told this is nothing specific against us just general policy, so I was wondering where to turn next to coninue the treatment offered?
