Adderall for social anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Adderall for social anxiety

adderall

Avatar n tn I first tried Paxil (high school) and that worked pretty good for the social anxiety. I was taken off of Paxil after 1-2yrs. 2-3 years later I started voicing my problems again with anxiety and I was put on Zoloft (college). After several months, Zoloft was still not working and was stopped. My doctor suggested going back on Paxil (post-college). So I started Paxil again, however, the Paxil had no effect this time around (I guess I used my one and only "get out of jail free" card!!).
Avatar m tn t mix meds and doesnt want to prescribe anything for my anxiety at the moment. I know that without concerta i find it difficult just to take care of my children and household. I am unable to organize, complete tasks, and feel like my brain is a jigsaw puzzle and unable to put things together. Is there a way I can take care of my anxiety and my add at the same time? I know there has to be a way.
Avatar f tn He was diagnosed with bipolar and then also with ADHD he takes risperdal for bipolar and adderall for adhd. The adderall has been wonderful it really helped a lot the risperdal i am not so sure as he still gets very angry and aggressive he has also been recently diagnosed with social anxiety disorder.
Avatar f tn I recently went through a really terrible break-up with a person who was very emotionally isolated and with whom I couldn't communicate effectively. This person was also very critical of everything I did and offered little, if any, support for my self-esteem and confidence. I was madly in love with this person until I realized how emotionally unaffected this person was and how controlling this person was over my life. During our entire relationship, I was also taking Adderall.
Avatar n tn Lately, in order to get any sleep and function at all during the day I have been drinking alcohol and smoking weed late into the night...I already take Lexapro for social anxiety and I think by this point, Im mainly using Adderall to feel comfortable in social situations I cant deal with, and to keep from gaining weight. I know this is NOT the way to deal with these problems, just a quick fix that Im going to have to deal with at some point.
Avatar m tn Hi (sorry in advance for the long post), I am a twenty year old male in Las Vegas and have been struggling with mental health problems for my whole life, but only realizing my thoughts were abnormal for the past 2 ½ years. I was first diagnosed as a child with anxiety but we thought nothing of it.
1245000 tn?1268568488 I also went to my doctor and started taking Prozac for anxiety. This led to me becoming comfortable with myself in social situations. The compulsion to use lessened. :-). I did not have that urge to use drugs that was so strong. I still had it but it was manageable. Finally, you have to value yourself as a person. Think of all the positive things in yourself, use positive affirmations like: Hey I am great person, I have accomplished this or that, I am beautiful, etc.

Avatar f tn She understood the Adderall working better for me, and said there had been no need for both Vyvanse and Adderall, although when on those two, I hardly had to take the Klonopin. I thought I functioned better than I have in like I said 30 years suffering with this disease. She said she would not prescribe both, and that I was to stop Klonopin, since it was a downer and Adderall was an upper, and I should not do that. I said ok, but was concerned about it.
Avatar f tn If you only the twitch in you neck when your anxious than thats just a symptom of you anxiety and not a side affect of the meds. Anxiety/depression causes physical symptoms too. My whole body shakes and I get chills when I feel a panic attack coming on. You may need both and if so thats fine especially if the combination works better for you. You may need the adderall for your ADHD. I don't think Zoloft helps with ADHD but I'm not sure.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with adult add. My doctoe prescribed adderall 20mg a day. It helps a lot with focus & motivation. But when I am at work or in social settings I feel paranoid & xtreme anxiety. My doc said he is upping my prozac that would help with social anxiety. But it will take a month to feel a benefit from that & the adderall will probably just override it. I did not take the adderall todday b4 work. I don't know what to do. Just take adderall on my days off?
Avatar f tn Hello I'm 29 years old and have been taking adderall for several months and have also found it not as effective. I have (rather my doctor has) upped my dose twice and now take 30 mg twice a day. i have read that if you take tums or a teaspoon of baking soda 45 min before dose that it will make it more potent and last longer so I'm willing to try. Basically if ur stomach is too acidic it will eat up the adderall which is a salt. My medicine not working as well frustrates me bad!
Avatar m tn m not on any medication currently. I tried Paxil and Zoloft (low doses for about 4 months) for my anxiety but neither of them worked. In fact, Paxil actually made me more nervous in social settings. I also found that the SSRI's helped me last during sex which was amazing for me except I couldn't reach an orgasm. The SSRI's made me feel kind of odd, like i was in a dream sometimes, so I stopped them. I have two more drugs I had interesting findings with.
Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro for 2 years for anxiety (no ADD yet diagnosed) and I felt better, but gained 30 pounds. Now I need to decide what I am comfortable to start taking to deal with the ADD, as it is causing problems at work (no focus, scattered, etc.) Does anyone have any suggestions as to what meds that they were successful with (I know all meds effect people differently, but so I have an idea of whats out there).
Avatar m tn The difference is that while the Xanax really helps for the anxiety, it is not treating the cause of the anxiety. That is what the adderall is doing. Of course, not positive on that - but anxiety is a very strong co-disorder of adhd. And, I feel it is even stronger in adult undiagnosed adhd. So if you are now treating the possible cause of your anxiety - then that is good. And, I have seen this reported many times with adults.
Avatar m tn I want any advice or information from experienced members, who have succeeded in quitting w/long-term Adderall addiction. I'd been prescribed Adderall for the first time in 2000. My Doctor has steadily increased my dosages (up to 120mg daily) over the years. She has also experimented with various other alternatives (Ritalin, Dexedrine, Vyvance, etc) with mixed results. I don't feel that long term health effects; are justified by short term benefits (that I might not get).
1858622 tn?1319813203 We are pleased with Adderall! Ashley took it for the first time yesterday and it was almost like it was a different person I was living with! She was focused, she was talkative after school(usually she'd been hardly speaking at all).Well if I was tired, had headaches, stomach aches I'd would n't be talking much either. Pls share your experience with Adderall.
1469794 tn?1286630557 I would get adderall and everytime I would run out of my DOC I would get hopped up on Adderall and I didn't have any WD's. So in my opinion YES Ritalin and Adderall or any stimulants do help BUT It is dangerous and I would never tell somebody to try it. I am only saying from experience that for me it stopped them but not saying for you or anybody else to do that. Everybody is different and what works for one may not work for another.
19862199 tn?1485638253 I am a 21-year-old female with Severe ADHD & Severe Social-phobia (Social Anxiety) who has been experiencing these spells on and off for years now. When these (what I call) "Slow Spells" hit, they hit hard. The "Slow Spells" seem to happen whenever my ADHD medication kicks in, but they don't usually last long. Everything I do seems to be at a snail's pace (even if I am actually moving at normal speed).
Avatar n tn I also take adderall for add and xanax for anxiety. The reason that you are experiencing anxiety like symptoms from the adderall is because adderall is a stimulant. It is a mix of amphetamine and dextoamphetamine salts. It is a schedule II drug. Schedule I drugs are the worst classification and it goes down to schedule V. This is not uncommon, I have this problem as well. The question is can you live with the extra anxiety if the adderall is really helping you?
Avatar f tn There are gov't programs for people who are unemployed. There are gov't programs for people who can't work. There are gov't programs for people who can't afford health insurance. You're on a lot of medication, and in my opinion, it has nothing to do with your size, it's most likely because you're on meds that don't work for you. If they were working better, you wouldn't need so much.
Avatar f tn just talking to my dr he feels its my anxiety there is no chest pain just tightness,i dont have add or adha im being treated for anxiety and depression and im also on prozac and xanax....
Avatar f tn I have been on effexor, wellbutrin, lexapro, abilify and so on for years with no complete relief of my depression. The only thing that temporarily helps my depression and social anxiety is b vitamin injections (accidently realized this seeing a weight loss dr.) , adderrall, and smoking a cigarette. Weird I dont get addicted but I smoke to get a break from my darkness and hopelessness. My husband smokes regularly and he doesnt get the feeling I get.
Avatar f tn I have a 11 year old daughter who comes home from school 90% of the time to a mom who is still in the same pajamas for days, not much social interaction, and one who can't even drive her to a karate class or any activity. I do see a neurologist, and my psychiatrist. My psychiatrist not only prescribes all my meds except for the migraine meds but I see her weekly for therapy too.
Avatar m tn Though maintaining well above average grades, before my senior year of high school I was prescribed a daily dose of Adderall Extended Release (XR) and Adderall Instant Release (IR). From an early age I was identified as gifted, but I sought the prescription because concentration was getting in the way of performance as classes became more involved and I felt as though I suffered certain social problems associated with ADHD.
1609422 tn?1298125484 taken any of these medications for over 7 years except the adderall! I have taken adderall within the last year but not regularly. Just has needed for times I need to be completely focused and when I need to sit and pay attention for long periods of time? I don't have insurance but I have an appointment to talk to a doctor about starting a new medication soon! I don't have insurance so I can't afford to go to the doctor in an emergency unless it is severe!
4358817 tn?1353346212 As of the past month I have been noticing that my face is flushing more than usual. I am not sure if it is due to new stressors, social anxiety, or my medications (Adderall 15XR and Seroquel 50mg @ night). I have been on these two medications for the past three years with no side effects so I am pretty sure that is not the sole cause of my redness. Prior to the past month when this started, when I talked in a large group my face would turn a hint of pink and fade in a few moments.
