Adderall for ptsd

Common Questions and Answers about Adderall for ptsd

adderall

military, civilian and VA have all told me the same thing (as well as all the research I've done on my own).....there is no med for PTSD. The meds they hand out for PTSD are only for associated symptoms. These meds your son has been put on are some heavy-duty stuff...not usually given to kids. I'd really be weary and get a 2nd opinion.
I honestly related this to the virus as my son also experienced problems, and doesnt do caffeine or adderall. I stopped the adderall completely really with no problem that I was aware of, however I did end up with every possible symptom of fibro, and then some. Again I attributed this to the nasty virus. However at the end of July, while unusually fatigued and in a great amount of pain, I had to get ready for a family vacation.
My son is a 10 yr old aspergers/add/ocd/still trying to find the exact label kind of kid, and is on Adderall. Actually he just started Adderall RX - the Concerta version of the regular Adderall med. He's bright, musical, and attends a special ed school that is trying to push the rispardol+adderall combo.
I was madly in love with this person until I realized how emotionally unaffected this person was and how controlling this person was over my life. During our entire relationship, I was also taking Adderall. I was never extensively tested for ADD, but my doctor and I had determined that this was the best course of treatment for several reasons.
My conclusion was that if it was as bad as I was expecting, I would at least be able to drive myself home. Well, I ran out of Adderall on the drive home after a horrendous time (read my post about PTSD if you want to know in more detail). It was my foster father driving with my foster mother and his mother. I asked them if they could drive me and they said no, which I thought was silly because my grandmother drives her own car.
Alchohol is similiar though not as profound. Uppers like caffiene, some types of pain pills and adderall seem help alleviate the symptoms. I think it started before I smoked weed though. I've always had a drastically creative, curious and observant mind, but I remember one day specifically in 9th grade. I was starring off, day dreaming (as usual) and looking at the border around the bulletin board.
Will a CT scan show anything in my brain that is left over damage from my MVA from so many tears ago? I am taking Prozac, Trazadone, Xanax and Adderall (for the focus issues that have been getting worses lately.
he had to have the cancer cut out, all the muscles on one side of his shoulder and a radical nectectomy?(sp).....He claims he has PTSD and radiation tiredness and is in much pain. He goes to three different doctors and they have given him so much medicine to include, butibital, adderall (which he took 20mg 3 times a day, phenobarbital, Nuerotin, tramidol, flexiril, baclofen, sonata......He was a profession and ran a million dollar a year business and now it is all gone.....
Mine is smoking, on Adderall I will crave cigarettes, off Adderall I will only think about them occasionally. I chose to take the Adderall & keep my smoking to 1/2 pack/day. She also prescribed 1mg. of generic Klonopin for any additional muscle spasms in the evening PRN (as needed.) She then put me on a 2.5mg. trial of Abilify due to my complaints of BiPolar type symptoms. I eventually increased to 5mg. with no relief. Being an R.N., after 3 weeks of 5mg.
I have been in and out of therapy for years and my last psychiatrist prescribed Adderall for me because I have absolutely NO energy and I drink about 10 cups of coffee a day just to keep me going. I also take Citalopram for major depression. I have always been very tired all of the time, I sleep when I'm depressed or to just escape from the world. I have no life, but my kids, whom I adore, they just drain me of everything.
He gets all different prescribtions from adderall, to sleeping meds, antidepressants, and pain pills. He said he doesnt take any of them he gets them for his "ptsd" but doesnt use them. My issue is he is a compulsive liar and he put me through alot. its got to the point I would just have to look at him to know he was high. and I'm getting that feeling again for a while now. BTW he was using long before I ever met him or before he went over seas I found out after.
He thinks deeply on all issues, and sometimes will have been thinking about something for a couple weeks before bringing it up! Also, he has been Dx ADHD,PTSD,'mood disorder', 'intermittent explosive disorder'. We are going to see his psych today because more and more signs point to Bipolar Disorder. He is VERY high IQ, and in a Gifted classroom at school. Not doing very well there, not completing assignments, forgetting things, etc.
My 8 year old son, has been diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, OCD, PTSD, and a reactive attachment disorder. Three doctors here have put him on 36mg of Concerta 2 times a day, 300mg of Lithium 2 times a day, 25mg of Zyprexa 1 time, and 150mg of Trazadone 1 time a day. He attends a behavior school that is suppose to be licensed to restrain the children from hurting theirself and others. He is always coming home with bruises.
I did a tour in afghanistan from 07 to 08, and since I have been home it has been nothing but problems with my health. First, they diagnosed me with PTSD with anxiety and exercise-induced asthma. While running pt tests my times kept getting worse, and running was getting harder. I had a extreme increase in mucus, and shortness of breath causes anxiety attacks all the time. Well, now i've been seeing doctors, and I always feel tired.
The doc put me on all kinds of antidepressants but they didn't do anything, geodon made it horribly worse, Adderall seems to help with the daytime epsiodes, but not the night. I believe Ambien helped but I was only on it for two months before there was an issue with the doc office and they couldn't refill (after 7 phonecalls and 4 faxes). My heart goes out people who can't get medical care.
Would appreciate any personal comments you have about your use of Adderall. Is the Adderall prescribed for pain? And how have you been feeling Anjel? I do think about you alot, dealing with all the discomfort that you suffer from. I sincerely hope that you can find a way to get your pain under control. Living in chronic pain, is the pits, isn't it?
I have been having multiple symptoms for about a year now and have seen various doctors but no luck on an official diagnosis. I originally started with having difficulty concentrating, constant fatigue and sleepiness, forgetting things and "brain fog". I went to a neuropsychologist who tested for ADHD (results were negative) and a battery of neuropsychological tests. She found that I have brain injury on both sides. The symptoms continued and began getting worse.
i also have benign heart palpitations so when people have suggested adderall im too afraid to even suggest taking those to my dr because i HATE when i have a palpitation. But I also HATE the way Ive become, its gotten worse over the years, not better. The anxiety has stayed about the same, kinda comes in waves but the lack of focus the inability to sleep or accomplish anything has all gotten worse. SO please, can someone suggest something?!
I have scheduled a follow up for April 30 and he will perform an EEG before the follow up appointment. The fatigue and inability to concentrate is so bad that I'm taking Adderall XR in the morning and 200 mg of Provigil in the afternoon, just to function throughout the day. I closely monitor those because of the potential side effects of taking 2 stimulants.
Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.
I was diagnosed as bipolar in 2004 after a diagnosis of severe depression, anxiety and PTSD. I am not sure if all of that is summed up with the bipolar diagnosis, or I have all of them. Anyway, I have been hospitalized 3 times and over the last 5 years have been in almost every psych med know. The guinea pig trials have been often debilitating. After a long road of ups and downs I think I am doing pretty well... but it's a HUGE cocktail.
I see a counselor and they have me on Adderall( I was already ADD) and clonazepam. Can severe stress and anxiety cause personality changes, could this be depression. Is this reaction normal? Please answer, I feel out of control and I don't know how to get it back.
If my levels are normal, we can rule out pernicious anemia (which may explain if the benzos aren't being properly . I also take 10 mg of Adderall XR a few times a week for ADD, and it helps HUGELY with the depression. I have not become addicted to it by any means, so that is why I only take it as needed. I've been diagnosed with: Clinical Depression, ADD, PTSD, and Agoraphobia. I can't take ANY SSRIs, SNRIs, etc.
Some of the things I’ve been diagnosed with include osteoarthritis, bone spurs, fibromyalgia, sciatica, lots of torn cartilage in my knees, lower back pain, COPD, anxiety attacks, depression, PTSD, and, well, you get the picture. My primary doctor and my neurologist have me on a lot of medications. However, something I’m taking (or perhaps the combination of more than one of the medications) continues to make me retain water, wherein my ankles become huge “kankles”, none of my rings fit, etc.
Hi, I have a couple of questions and hopefully, I will do my best in asking them clearly. I have been experiencing heart palpitations since about this time last year. The first time my heart felt weird, I checked my pulse which would go from approx 50 bpm to 80 bpm within minutes. I eventually went to the ER because it made me quite nervous. I was admitted and stayed in the hospital for a few days with bijeminy and trigeminy.
Thanks for everyone's support!! It is incredibly helpful. I have a follow-up with my MW on Monday. This is ridiculous but I could see her sooner but I have to catch-up at work. I was at work the day of the m/c. (well I do work at a hospital) The fetus/embryo was not very well formed at all. S/He resembled development at 4-5 weeks but was very large. 3 inches long & 1.5 inches wide. The size & weight were how I knew I was passing it & inspired my instinct to catch it.

Sometimes our troubles are not the troubles we think they are. Not diagnostically anyway. You could try asking about complex-ptsd, it is pretty much the same as bpd. A second opinion sounds feasible providing it is unbiased and not unjustly influenced. What you get depends on the integrity of the doctor. Intellectually, no, emotionally, yes. The treatment for bpd is slightly different.
Neurontin 600mg/day for Nerve Damage Pain (was mauled by a dog losing half of each lip - had reconstructive surgeries, but enormous pain due to such trauma to the Trigeminal Nerve) - Adderall 60mg/day for ADD - Iron, Vitamin D & Vitamin C Supplements for deficiencies and Anemia - Xanax 1mg as needed for insomnia and panic attacks/PTSD - Hydroxyz HCL 50mg as needed for Allergies - Zyrtec 20mg/day for Allergies -Albuterol for Asthma, either in inhaler form or nebulizer - I used Afrin 1x per
I had a huge problem with reading comprehension and I was diagnosed with inattentive ADD/SCT. I still have the ADD but when I was 18 i finally got on Adderall and although it made certain aspects worse, it seemed like the good outweighed the bad. I felt like i was finally "awake"! Bc for all the years before that, it felt as if i was always in a dream or in the clouds and kind of just in my own head ALL the time. Which is just no way to live.
