Adderall for ptsd

Common Questions and Answers about Adderall for ptsd

military, civilian and VA have all told me the same thing (as well as all the research I've done on my own).....there is no med for PTSD. The meds they hand out for PTSD are only for associated symptoms. These meds your son has been put on are some heavy-duty stuff...not usually given to kids. I'd really be weary and get a 2nd opinion.
I have been prescribed Adderall, methadone, Xanax, and hydrocodone. Need to know if it is ok to take all of these at same time. My Adderall is 20mg. methadone 5mg, Xanax 1.0mg and hydrocodone 10mg. Really need answers as to if it is okay to take all these at same time. Please help me out quick as possible?
After 3 days, I tried the adderall and like magic - no pain again. Can anyone explain this phenomenon. Did being on adderall for a year and a half create the fibro symptoms after completely off of it, and then after months of physical problems, taking a little relieved the horrible pain? I find nothing on this, and my psychiatrist said it is not typical by any means. However, this, in my personal case, is the honest to god truth.
I don't tell my doc, since she'll stop prescribing Ambien for me. I also take Zoloft for the past 7 years, for the ptsd; I quit the Zoloft cold turkey about a month ago. I really can't tell much of a difference in mood; but the withdrawl side affects are some but not bad; some elevated aggitation (stuff like that). Reason I mention the Zoloft and my discontinuation of it, is that the Zoloft does not seem to be the problem. I still have the haunting nightmares every night.
Taken several SSRIs in the past for anxiety. Adderall XR for ADD, Wellbutrin too. I have been seeing a therapist for about 4 months and he had me go for a psychiatry evaluation a few days ago. The two concrred that I am "complex" and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings.
I am also taking percocet for the horrible panic episodes that I have because that seems to work as well for me. I think I know why this works for some people. In an article that I read a couple of years ago,(unfortunatly I lost it) they said that the brain produces it's own morphine. Some people's brain are actually deprived of that which is why we need opiates to feel normal and balanced. If I find this article again I will post it.
If my levels are normal, we can rule out pernicious anemia (which may explain if the benzos aren't being properly . I also take 10 mg of Adderall XR a few times a week for ADD, and it helps HUGELY with the depression. I have not become addicted to it by any means, so that is why I only take it as needed. I've been diagnosed with: Clinical Depression, ADD, PTSD, and Agoraphobia. I can't take ANY SSRIs, SNRIs, etc.
My son is a 10 yr old aspergers/add/ocd/still trying to find the exact label kind of kid, and is on Adderall. Actually he just started Adderall RX - the Concerta version of the regular Adderall med. He's bright, musical, and attends a special ed school that is trying to push the rispardol+adderall combo.
I was never extensively tested for ADD, but my doctor and I had determined that this was the best course of treatment for several reasons. I wasn't responding positively depression meds, I was depressed often, my mind would move exhaustively from one thought to another, this made focusing and concentrating more difficult, my energy and motivations levels had become uncharacteristically low, and related issues.
Lots of them go unnoticed and people are left struggling for understanding and for help. However, I am straining to find a way to help you. I'm not certain what your question is about - You seem to just be talking about a serious issue, but it seems like you aren't looking for any particular help or answers. Could you divulge? I am interested in your issues and I would like to help out.
Will a CT scan show anything in my brain that is left over damage from my MVA from so many tears ago? I am taking Prozac, Trazadone, Xanax and Adderall (for the focus issues that have been getting worses lately.
thanks for your kind words........he has been off adderall for 3 months now, but remains on many pain meds as he is in pain from residual radiation treatment....He had more rads than he was suppose too.....question though.....we went on a trip a month ago and i noticed where he purchased two bottles of this just a replacement for the adderall....and he also has been spraying nasal spray daily....he has disenagration at the top of his spine and has in the last year lost his teeth..
It's also a defense mechanism for ptsd as well. You can develop ocd as well because it's what you control not anybody else.
So, I'm back to the previous regimen which works well for my Fibromyalgia. We are working on the PTSD with some biofeedback. I don't recall if you mentioned you were on any pain meds for the disc surgery or arthritis, if you are they may be contributing to your fatigue, but it is doubtful the Abilify is since it tends to have stimulative properties. It is my opinion (and only mine) that Adderall (not the extended release) may help you more & is far less costly.
I have been in and out of therapy for years and my last psychiatrist prescribed Adderall for me because I have absolutely NO energy and I drink about 10 cups of coffee a day just to keep me going. I also take Citalopram for major depression. I have always been very tired all of the time, I sleep when I'm depressed or to just escape from the world. I have no life, but my kids, whom I adore, they just drain me of everything.
Our family does not attend church and have never actively practiced or non-practiced religion, i.e. we haven't preached for or against and it's never really brought up. Both my husband and I are fairly intelligent but don't discuss philosophy around the dinner table or in casual conversation. My 5 year old recently told me "Life is hard because God made everything and no one can say who made God. It makes me sad that no one can know the answer.
Would appreciate any personal comments you have about your use of Adderall. Is the Adderall prescribed for pain? And how have you been feeling Anjel? I do think about you alot, dealing with all the discomfort that you suffer from. I sincerely hope that you can find a way to get your pain under control. Living in chronic pain, is the pits, isn't it?
She is also sensitive to food coloring and sugar. She is currently on Adderall XR for her ADHD, the only disorder I believe she actually has. I think you should definitely get a second opinion from another doctor. A developmental pediatrician should be able to give you some info. I tried a psychiatrist for my daughter but I found that we were looking at months or maybe years before she would be of much help because how much is a child that age going to talk to a stranger.
I have been with my husband for almost 4 years now. the 1st year of our relationship was long distance (he went over seas 6 months after we met) While he was gone I stuck by him and waited for his return. When he got home we moved in together. things were good the 1st few weeks then I started to notice his odd behavior come to find out he was hooked on zanax he denied his problem of course but I knew everytime he was on it.
I was recently reevaluated but a Forensic Phycsitris, for PTSD and what I found out during this was that there is a differecen in panic attacks, anxiety attacks and what they call PANIC DISORDER with is what I have along with clinical depression and PTSD, I have been under going treatment for almost 2 years but guess what the ppl I have seeing were not trained to deal with my needs, to teach me ways to deal with them with my meds (which are also not right) and ways to work towards dealing with a
I hate it when they treat the symptoms instead of figuring out the cause. It's lazy medicine to me. Showing results for meloxicam water retention. Search instead for meloxican water retention. Search Results Mobic (Meloxicam) - What You Need to Know About Mobic (Meloxicam) - CachedMobic, generic name meloxicam, is one of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to ... If you had written to the ADHD forum, I would have said read a lot of the other posts. Your kid is doing a lot of what is very normal (except for the ptsd) for an ADHD child. Your attempts at discipline (spanking in particular) won't work with ADHD kids. You really need to get a feel for what is going on with them and thus how to work with them. Hopefully, the psychiatrist you will go to see will be able to also spend some time with you and help/show you ways to work with your son.
I have been having multiple symptoms for about a year now and have seen various doctors but no luck on an official diagnosis. I originally started with having difficulty concentrating, constant fatigue and sleepiness, forgetting things and "brain fog". I went to a neuropsychologist who tested for ADHD (results were negative) and a battery of neuropsychological tests. She found that I have brain injury on both sides. The symptoms continued and began getting worse.
You need to trust that your son is getting the support he needs. You could perhaps follow this up for reassurance if necessary. Getting the right help for him now is imperative. I think you also need to do what you need too to help yourself. Getting healthy yourself may also influence your son's recovery. Stress and anxiety can make you vulnerable and cause changes in mood, behavior, etc. Yes, I think it is likely you may be depressed.
My heart goes out to problems started in my late 20"s. I had fibromyalgia for years. 22 to be exact and when I was 38 I got really sick for the fist time with EBV after a surgury. I did take at that time Ritalin in the am and around noon which barely got me to 6 ocl Pm before I just feel over a crashed again. I found out Ritalin has a short half life in your system which is why I crashed the minute it wore off.
I did a tour in afghanistan from 07 to 08, and since I have been home it has been nothing but problems with my health. First, they diagnosed me with PTSD with anxiety and exercise-induced asthma. While running pt tests my times kept getting worse, and running was getting harder. I had a extreme increase in mucus, and shortness of breath causes anxiety attacks all the time. Well, now i've been seeing doctors, and I always feel tired.
I am desperate. Three weeks ago I was to go off all allergy meds to prepare for a skin allergy test. After the first day, my throat almost swelled shut, I could not breathe (had to use my nebulizer - I have asthma), had red blotchy skin and hives, was red head to toe, itched intensely all over and then the most bizarre thing happened. I began sniffing. I felt the urge to sniff, as though mucous were in my nose, but when I blew, nothing came out.
I spent entirely too long living with mental illness without going for help. Anyway when I was about 21, I was diagnosed with major clinical depression. I felt a bizarre sense of relief knowing that there really was something wrong with me. So I've been dealing with it for 32 years now. There have been periods of strength and periods of absolute despair. I've been hospitalized 3 times over the years, but nothing worse than a 3 day hold.
