They are out of your system fairly quickly. There is no tapering off period like there is for many meds. For people with ADHD, who follow their prescription there is no addiction problems or W/Ds. I am probably off beat here, but I would be remiss if I didn't throw this out. You were diagnosed at 19. Were you in college then? Sometimes, the college doctors since they can't do the normal surveys of teachers, go more on the need of the patient and maybe don't follow the actual guidelines.
I know when I was on Ritalin, any form, I was mean, really mean. It was the same with Concerta. Stratara did nothing for me but there are many people that think it its the greatest thing. I have never tried this Vyvance. I have found the one drug that seems to work best so far. I think you need to keep trying until you find what works the best for you because everybody's body chemistry is different. What works well for me may not work well for you.
Are there other people out there that are prescribed Adderall for depression? Also how many MG do you take? I am curious to see if I'm prescribed a "normal" amount. I currently take 2, 30mg Adderall XR daily (morning, afternoon) and 1, 10mg Instant Release Adderall around 7:00pm. 70mgs of Adderall total a day.
This weekend I went without adderall for 3 days. Tonight after I took my pill I ended up having this huge mood outbreak. I felt very irritable and angry. I ended up lashing out at my family and boyfriend. I noticed I get this whenever I stop my dosage and then jump back on. I researched up on the drug and it said that we shouldnt stop and go with dosages like that. And when I am not on the drug I end up sleeping for 3 days straight and when I do wake up I have episodes of hysteria.

I have been on Vyvanse for a while now. And was worried when they doctor said it was very similar to Adderall XR. But he promised me that the issues I was having with feeling ill, insomnia, and no appitite would lessen on Vyvanse. And that the nasty, gross stimulant feeling I got from Adderall would go away.
And he was right about everything and then some. And believe me if there is a side effect to have I will have it.

I hope you know that adderall has caused death in some people ,they found that some people get high blood pressure and also some have had strokes after taken adderall and some have had heart problems .
to me it wouldn't be worth getting good grades.
also you should never take someone else drugs.
my son has been on adderall and then concerta ,until I found out he was having Seizures witch can also be a side effect from these drugs.
For some people it will make them a zombie, and some people will want to clean a house or build an entire structure while on adderall. Sleepless nights and lack of appetite are sure to come with adderall when starting out, after a while he will adjust to it and lessen side effects. I'm just ranting. Adderall has had a bad rep. with some people. I used to think that inattentive ADD was fake; a crutch/excuse people use (not ADD w/ hyperactivity--I've seen this first hand).
I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy.
A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Hi Nikki, congratulations for getting back into college! Not an easy thing to do for someone with ADHD. Got a feeling that your early experience with meds was due to an over dosage. Doctors start out with a dose and then wait for information on how it is working and then adjust from there. Everybody reacts differently. It may be that you are more sensitive then normal. Also now, there are a variety of new medications out there,and it might take a while to find the right fit.
I told my doctor and he told me to cut down to my normal dose of 30 mg per day I know the Adderall can cause heart palps in some people but I never had them until just recently . could it be from the food that I ate ? I have been doing really good on my diet and this is the first time I eat something starchy and sugar in a long time . Or is it from too much aderall?
Hello I'm 29 years old and have been taking adderall for several months and have also found it not as effective. I have (rather my doctor has) upped my dose twice and now take 30 mg twice a day. i have read that if you take tums or a teaspoon of baking soda 45 min before dose that it will make it more potent and last longer so I'm willing to try. Basically if ur stomach is too acidic it will eat up the adderall which is a salt. My medicine not working as well frustrates me bad!
I run 2 - 3x per week for 3 - 5 miles, weight training 2x per week, and boxing and wrestling for 90min 4x per week. I take Zantac for acid reflux and Adderall XR for concentration and memory retention. I eat very well, don't smoke, don't drink. I have been living my life this specific way for about 8 months and my heart rate when doing any strenuous exercise is at 200-205 BPM. Within 2 minutes of running until I am finished it beats that fast.
