Adderall dosage for adults

Common Questions and Answers about Adderall dosage for adults

adderall

Avatar m tn I have been taking Adderall for about 8 or 9 years now without a prescription. I have taken different amounts depending on what I can get from whoever. I have never abused it, just used enough to get me through work and home life. I usually take it for work though as it really helps me stay focused and just be a better person overall.
Avatar f tn My question is about my current dosage of Adderall. But first, I'd like to share my background with those of you reading this. Bear with me, this post is very long. I was finishing the last months of undergrad I found myself extremely depressed. It came to the point where I could not wake up in the morning without crying. I was thinking of committing suicide nearly every single day. I couldn't put my finger on what was causing the depression.
1182411 tn?1265321044 My name is David and I was browsing the net for suggestions about adderall tolerance, I am on 90 mg xr of Adderall , and it stopped working . No single psychiatrist as of now has been willing to increase it. It just kinda gives me hope to know that there are others who need more than the 'usual' dose, thanks for your time. I just needed to say this.
Avatar n tn I am a stay at home mother with three young boys. I have been taking zoloft (100mg daily) for depression for about nine years. The only times I was not taking zoloft is during my second and third pregnancies (and, boy, it was tough). Zoloft has changed my life - and my family's happiness. Just recently I was also diagnosed with ADD. My doc gave me adderall 10mg IR to try.
1469794 tn?1286630557 I would get adderall and everytime I would run out of my DOC I would get hopped up on Adderall and I didn't have any WD's. So in my opinion YES Ritalin and Adderall or any stimulants do help BUT It is dangerous and I would never tell somebody to try it. I am only saying from experience that for me it stopped them but not saying for you or anybody else to do that. Everybody is different and what works for one may not work for another.
Avatar f tn and to answer your question, no, it is not a common reaction for adults on Adderall to act that way if there using it for what it is prescribed for and not over abusing it. and if its the right med for the person.
Avatar f tn I been taking adderall since before i can remember, atleast 18 years on and off but mostly on. Ritalin never worked... Im 26, 5'5 and weigh post partum at 7 weeks 152 lbs and im at 30mg ir 3x a day. I was taking this dosage before pregnancy about a yr ago when i was 122 lbs and it worked for te most part... AS most ppl may know some docs wont allot pregnant women to have any adderall.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am concerned about the behavior of a friend of mine who is taking 340 mg adderall a day as prescribed by a psychiatrist for adult ADD. She has been on it for 5 - 6 years, starting on a much smaller dosage and indicating to the psychiatrist that it was not helping, and the psychiatrist kept upping the dosage. From the bit of research I have done, my understanding is that this may not be a reasonable dosage of adderall.
Avatar m tn I have been taking adderall for 6 years now. I read your post and I have experienced exactly the same effects. The only thing that stopped me from slowing down my mind was to up the dosage. However each time you up the dosage it seems to take about a year or so until my mind slows down again while on the medication. I've asked two different doctors about the long term effects of adderall but they both claim there is no information or known studies of prolonged adderall use.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Concerta 27.5 mgCR which is like adderall for ADHD. My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack.
Avatar f tn I became addicted to oxycodone 15mg in 2012 after my first back surgery, obviously I was on them while I was in the hospital for 7days after surgery then took them for about 4 days once I got home. I tried to stop and became sick and realized I was addicted. I go to a pain clinic for my chronic pain. Since then I had surgery on my elbow and just 2 weeks ago I had another back surgery. My oxycodone has never been upped in dosage so of course it doesn't help with the pain.
Avatar n tn Adderall is the most commonly prescribed ADHD medicine for adults. I think most insurance companies cover it until a person is 25. Some will cover it for longer. I had to start paying out of pocket on my 26th birthday. Some versions of extend release Ritalin are also FDA approved for adults and there are also non stimulant alternatives.
Avatar f tn My daughter is very competetive in track and just stared taking adderall for her ADD. Will the adderall slow her running down? She is very concerned.
990354 tn?1307132886 t think she is taking them at the same time but, is it safe for her to take an adderall on occasion? She claims the adderall gives her more energy than the vyvanse so she takes it when she has a night that she is working late and so on. I am just making sure this is not harmful to her, I am a recoverying addict and am scared I am seeing the same signs in her.......
Avatar m tn I stopped taking my perscription to adderall xr 30mg two weeks ago since my semester at college was over. I was taking this dosage for almost three months. Since I have stopped, I have noticed fatigue in the morning along with a foggy thought process through out the day. Is this normal? And how long does this withdrawl last for?
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar n tn Psychostimulant medication when properly prescribed and monitored is effective for approximately 75-80% of people with ADHD. These medications include Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, and Desoxyn. It is important to note that when these medications are used to treat ADHD the dosage is much less that what addicts use to get high.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/add-adhd/guide/adhd-adults and see if any of these fit. I am not aware of SID sites for adults but specialmom could help with that.
Avatar f tn Adderall 10 mg = Vyvanse 30 mg, Adderall 20 mg = Vyvanse 50 mg, Adderall 30 mg = Vyvanse 70 mg. I always start lower than expected with a change to Vyvanse, as for about 10-15% that anticipated dose of Vyvanse proves too much. I don’t want folks on my watch to experience 10% problems." I would also check the comments in the above link and some of them might apply to you. the link is - http://www.corepsych.
284002 tn?1244547555 I am currently in therapy as I believe my depression is part biological and cognitive. I was at a dosage of 300mg for a week and felt VERY anxious now the doctor wants me to take 150 one day and 300 the next and see what happens. My therapist suggested I try to add an SSRI like Zoloft in the mix... I'll check my Dr.
Avatar n tn According to the regulatory agency, they received safety information concerning the association of sudden deaths, heart-related deaths, and strokes in children and adults taking recommended doses of Adderall and Adderall XR. This risk of Adderall death seemed particularly high for individuals with structural heart abnormalities. In response to these findings, the FDA issued an advisory warning about the possible risk of death, but allowed the drug to remain on the market.
7730266 tn?1393887862 The dopamine is what helps you concentrate (put very simply). Many adults will go down to the short acting adderall and take it only as needed. And, of course, there are many coping strategies that can be used depending on the need. There is no legal herbal tea that will do the same thing. I would try the non xr version on the days that you think it might be necessary for a particular reason.
Avatar n tn For ulcer treatment, Amoxil is combined with other medications. There are several dosage regimens available, and your doctor will choose the best one for you. If your kidneys are severely impaired or you are undergoing hemodialysis, the doctor may have to adjust your dosage accordingly. Children older than 3 months: Children weighing 88 pounds and over should follow the recommended adult dose schedule. Children weighing under 88 pounds will have their dosage determined by their weight.
Avatar f tn Adderall is a cakewalk compared to opiates. You will be just fine. Kids stay on adderall and still get into Harvard--in fact, kids are purposefully getting on adderall to improve their grades. Coming off something like adderall is in no way, shape or form as hard as painkillers so I know you can do it. Just drink lots of juice, have some tylenol just in case. You'll be fine, honey.
Avatar f tn But typically doctors start you off at the lowest possible logical amount and then wait for feedback before upping the dosage. The 30mg adderall that you were on was probably an extended release version. It was bigger because it packed enough to last all day. Allergies are pretty rare, and if you had it, I think that you would know fairly rapidly. Remember, anxiety can easily cause breathing troubles (hyperventilating, etc.). Beers shouldn't be a problem.
