Adderall and upset stomach

Common Questions and Answers about Adderall and upset stomach

adderall

doing some research on Adderall...3rd day on it, helps out, but severe headaches, constipation and stomach upset.
After about an hour of taking my medication, I have to go to the bathroom. I don't have an upset stomach, nausea, or anything like that, I just feel that pressure you get when you know you have to make a bowel movement. In this bowel movement, I have tons of undigested food in my stool. Like, the majority of it. It's gross and kind of weird, so I was wondering if this is a normal side effect or if I should worry about it?
Common Adderall side effect indeed include constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, restlessness, stomach pain or upset, trouble sleeping, weight loss, weakness and the unpleasant taste you mentioned. You could discuss this with your attending physician for possible dose adjustment or shift to other medication. Take care and best regards.
So far I have had no stomach upset from it. If you do get stomach upset on an opiate the best thing to do is lay flat on your back or about 15 minutes and usually it subsides. FYI: a FATAL dose of Lomotil is 75 mgs.
If you are really having bad WD's from the pain meds and the Adderall helps I would take it though. I only had real WD's from Adderall one time, and I had taken about 200mg/day for about a week straight, and then I ran out. I don't know how bad the WD's from pain meds are because I have never really liked pain meds, but normally when you come off of adderall you will just be really tired and unmotivated for a few days. Lots of exercise helps with that.
at night when the Adderall wears off....and prior to Adderall (and still but to a lesser degree) I had terrible sleep problems...the typical "can't shut my brain off" kind of nights. I can also relate on how the school records change, and not wanting to risk that. That being said... Medications work best when they are taken as prescribed...in this I'm referring not only to your Adderall, but also to the Clonazapam...the ups and downs from the meds can be really hard on the system.
Sometimes the stimulant meds to result in GI discomfort and/or headaches. Stomach upset usually subsides if the medication is taken with food, and headaches are often only a transitory effect. It's OK to take the medication with breakfast - it may not be helping to take it after.
i had the same problem with the morphine......to 90mgs. a day and stomach upset and little relief......dr. switched to oxy and no more tummy stuff! good luck.
I have known him for about a year and a half. He is a very stable individual and ambitious. He and I talked a long time tonight and he has accepted the fact he must have been hallucinating. I have advised him to see his physician (general practitioner) first thing next week. I am just curious if taking the adderall out of cycle along with lack of sleep and some stress related to school and financial could cause this acute episode of hallucinations?
Adarol also contains Tyrosine (4-hydroxyphenylalanine) which can cause nausea, headache, fatigue, heartburn, and joint pain. And it contains Geranium Extract which can upset the stomach and cause the immune system to become more active. Which in turn would increase the symptoms of auto-immune diseases." Whatever it is, it certainly is not worth the chance.
Loss of appetite (anorexia) Dry mouth Difficulty sleeping (insomnia) Headaches Abdominal pain (or stomach pain) Temporary increases in blood pressure Weight loss (see Adderall and Weight Loss) Emotional changes Nausea, upset stomach, or vomiting Dizziness Diarrhea Feeling of weakness (asthenia) Increased heart rate (tachycardia) Infection, including urinary tract infection (UTI) Fever Heartburn. Adderall can also cause a temporary slowing of growth in children.
I have PTSD and ADHD and take Wellbutrin 200 mg per day and Adderall XR 20 mg per day. I have an rx for clonazepam, 1 mg up to 4x per day and an rx for dilaudid, 4 mgs up to 3 x per day. I take the dilaudid and klonopin sparingly and as little as possible. If my pain flares in my back or feet, I take the dilaudid. If I am having extreme symptoms from the PTSD, I will take the klonopin. Occasionally, I take zantac 150 mg for upset stomach (maybe 2-4 times per month).
So my dr put me on Zolpidem, generic for AMbien. I think it's whats wrecking my stomach. I've stopped taking my adderall and I feel less driven and seem to be able to listen to my inside voice better. I still have the implusivity to talk, spend or eat. I just choose better what to eat instead of eating according to my cravings. That's bad for me. I also can't spend because I'm not working, so that's pretty much done. The talking? Well, that's what forums are for now.
One minute I am fine and the next minute I want to punch someone. I get so angry, upset, irritated, and emotional- I hate it! I am never like this. I also get extremely lethargic and tired, all I want to do is lay on the couch and do nothing...I'm usually pretty active and excited, but this pill has turned me into someone I am not- almost like a monster. It's started to affect my friendships and relationships. I have to get off it! Any advice to which pill to switch to??
I quit before because of nausea and a very upset stomach with constant burning, loud burping (sorry) and over all queezy feeling. I really want the weight loss benefit but can't take this too long. The only reason I am able to make it this time is I stopped a few other meds-Previcid,Zocor and Celebrex. That makes it easier. I also have difficulty with soda or any carbonated drink. They all taste yucky and taste flat. Some foods feel odd to chew. Has anyone else had gastric problems?
Hi - I need to lose about 60-70 lbs. I have an underactive thyroid and am on levoxyl (SP?) - Anyway I have been jogging 4 miles 3x/week + 1 hour of weights at the gym and have a trainer. - I can't lose any weight! I fluctuate between a loss of 1-2 lbs but thats it....The workouts have reduced my cholest. and my Thyroid is norm. - my mean blood glucose is 101.
So I stated with 100mg at night for a week, then added another 100mg in the morning, I am now only up to 3 x 100mg per day but each time I upped the does the first 2 days I had a very upset tummy and had the spaced out feelings you describe, by the third day it was just an upset tummy and then after that I was fine. It isn't helping the pains, tingling, etc yet but I am not taking very much. My doc has told me not to go to anymore until our appt next week when we discuss the way forward.

96. I went and had more blood work done monday and still have not received a call from my doctor. I am just nervous and feel bad. I was just talking with guys at work and they never heard of men having thyroid problems, and then I check on line and it is rare. I was just wondering if anyone here knows of any men who have thyroid problems? And if my 16.96 TSH is something to be concerned about. THANKS!
Hello I just started taking effexor xr with my adderall and trileptal! After reading the comments here on this site i feel like I want to stop taking the effexor before i get any more of it into my system. I called to see if I could take these meds together and i was told that you shouldn't take any thing like effexor ect.. with adderall cause it will cause problems. also i don't want to gain any weight.
I had horrible withdrawal symptoms including seasickness-like nausea, joint and limb pain, stomach cramps and diarrhea, mood swings, insomnia and probably, worst of all, the brain zaps or shivers. I'm going into my 6th week off the drug and while the withdrawal symptoms are not as intense, I experience some of these negatives effects every day, particularly in the sfternoon as I tire.
The possibe (but not probable) side effects of the medications are pretty much the same, and include headaches, appetite suppression, GI upset (particularly if taken on an empty stomach), insomnia (if taken too late in the day), psychotic thinking and development of motor tics. Most children who take these medications do not experience any of these side effects, but probably the most common is appetite suppression.
I'm on Prozac and not happy with it. I feel loopy, get fits of dizziness, and bouts of upset stomach, I crave and I'm still depressed. I crawl into the bathtub and cry. I cry all the time and have attempted to commit suicide (can't find the damn bullets - ha ha good for me tho) and still think about it often. I've not lost any of my baby weight 3 years later. My depression stemmed from Post Partum Depression. I've gained and lost, gained and lost but never lost more than 2 lbs.
Had same thing last year, with no help, pressure in head, dizziness occasionally, upset stomach and anxiety. Went to the ER and they did CT scan which was normal, cbc blood work, normal. was sent home and prescribed meclizine. Does not help, by the way. Went to family Doc. gave me xanax. helped and soon went away. Now , I have it a second time this year, family doc gave me xanax, helps with anxiety, note.. half one works best, whole knocks you out.
The bread theory seems to be a common thread here and I'm going to try it out and see if it helps. You mentioned your stomach is "blotted"- what is that? Is it a skin color issue on your stomach or what?
As a matter of fact, my mother's psychiatrist offered her Lortab(hydrocodone/APAP) for her anxiety, but she didn't want them because they upset her stomach. Ask your doctor and / or psychiatrist if they can subscribe some kind of opiate. It can't hurt to ask because SOME psychiatrists have already begun subscribing narcotic pain meds for anxiety.
I was on YAZ (for cramps and pms) and Adderall (for adult attention defecit disorder) at the same time for about a year, and started feeling faint while at work and in public. A couple of times I felt numbness in my face, and decided to go off of both. Many times I felt as though I couldn't fill my lungs up all the way with air -- so I would do breathing exercises. I did research and found that both were responsible for causing blood clots and strokes.
The most common side effects are Anorexia, weight loss, insomnia, irritability, restlessness, headaches, stomach upset, elevation of blood pressure etc. Blurred vision also has been reported from its usage. I would recommend that you consult with your physician for adjusting the dosage and for further recommendations. Good luck to you. Sincerely HFHS-M.D.
