Common Questions and Answers about Adderall and neurotransmitters

adderall

Avatar m tn I know that marijuana, adderall and caffeine can have effects on the same neurotransmitters so I think my problems stem from the high volatility of chemical balances in my brain. As I type this, I realize how completely insane I sound and how sincerely scared I am. I would really appreciate hearing from other users of Adderall and marijuana to hear if anyone has suffered similar side effects. I would also really appreciate a serious tone to the nature of comments.
Avatar f tn Not sure you're right about taking two or more of these can cause it. Two of the drugs affect serotonin, but only trazadone does this primarily. However, any of these drugs by themselves (not including melatonin, which is not a drug and is one of the safest supplements ever studied) could cause all of your side effects and the combination wouldn't be appealing to me.
Avatar f tn so if i dont take the adderall and xanax at the same time of day the adderall will work better?
Avatar f tn However it has similar dopaminergic, seritonergic and noradrenergic properties adderall and Ritalin but it also has been shown to work on neurotransmitters called orexins and histamines (anti-histamines like Benadryl make you tired, while Provigil stimulates histamines that promote wakefulness). These are the likely reasons provigil has less side effects than adderal or Ritalin in general.
Avatar n tn What is the level of neurotransmitters ( or receptors = I don't know much) in Delusional disorder, affective disorder and Schizophrenia?
Avatar n tn 32/male I have aggitation where I'm uncomfortable in my own mind, in my own skin -- severe 24/7 derealization -- anxiety -- nothing feels real and I'm 24/7 lightheaded. Lately it's been worse and I've had a huge appettite. If I cut back on food, it makes my symptoms worse. My once high sex drive has also crashed recently. I was wonder. Do this cluster of symptoms point to any particular neurotransmitter --- and would it be too low or too high in my brain?
Avatar m tn I do not want to go to a phycologist or whatever because, I am scared that they might admit me. I think about my kids and I know that if I do something stupid they will have nobody no mother. I use to go to college years ago and I told myself no mater what I go through hang in there. I have racing thoughts a voice tells me that if I just do it now all the pain will go away and that it is the best thing to do.
Avatar f tn @quagg, just want to correct a few things, since other folks might take what you wrote as gospel. Vyvance (or as you spelled it Vivance) is the same drug as Adderall. Vyvance is slightly different in that it has to be digested to become chemically active (thought to keep it from being abused). And Adderall is not Meth + Salt. Adderall is comprised of four different salts (salts meaning ionic compounds, not table salt, aka sodium chloride).
674555 tn?1272600376 Some people who have been on ADDERALL have had strokes and heart problems and there have also been people who have had sudden death. One of the other side effects is Seizures . My Son was on ADDERALL and then Concerta . They both have the chance of causing Seizures. Now my son has Seizure's and at first you couldn't always see them and as time went by he started to have different kind of Seizures.
Avatar f tn m glad he switched the Adderall for Ritalin because it is less potent and cause less damage than Adderall and is more suitable for someone suffering from health anxiety or simply anxiety (I don't mean that less potent = less result. It just works differently) There totally no risk of upping Prozac to 60mg and taking Ritalin. Prozac will work on your serotonin while Ritalin will work on your dopamine and norepinephrine neurotransmitter's reuptake.
Avatar f tn If someone could give me some advice other than stop taking amphetamine (I can figure that out on my own), it would be greatly appreciated.I know adderall increases dopamine and norepinephrine activity, and as a mild maoi, some seratonin activity, but I don't know how those effect orgasm. If someone could just shed some light on this I would be very grateful. Maybe I should post this in a pharmacological forum also?
510969 tn?1212855281 But in my expierience (I have taken both as well), Ritalyn (really any type of methylphenadate) is much better than adderall. Adderall made me feel physically terriable where as i love Concerta (methylphenadate). But if your really adverse to taking medications you should try just meditating. For me it works great but then again i still take the meds.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 23 year old guy and recently I've been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, which is an autistic spectrum disorder. For me the problems are bad memory, bad integration of attention, planning & organising. I've tried numerous supplements in the past because I've read a lot about the biochemical part that together with the enevitable genetic part causes autism. There were supplements that helped me significantly.
Avatar m tn My Doctor is working with me and helping me in any way he can. I have ADHA and use to take Adderall daily. I asked my doc if I could get back on it while taking Suboxone and he said yes and perscribed it to me again. My question is if I should be taking these two meds together or not? I know my doc perscribed them to me but I can't help but question if it's ok. Does anyone have any takes on this? I am taking 8mg Sub 2x daily and 30mg Adderall 2x daily right now.
Avatar m tn ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.

Avatar m tn ve been on since January and I stopped it 3-4weeks ago and there is still some tenderness. But in addition I was put on adderall about 1-1.5 months before that. Is it possible that the culprit is really the amphetamine and not the propecia ?? Thanks for your help.

After her release she went back to her original Psychiatrist who again prescribed Adderall for her. Is Adderall ever used for bipoplar disorder. Everything I have read says no. 462570 tn?1273632977 A shortage or excess of these and similar neurotransmitters are thought to be responsible for emotional disorders like anxiety, depression, ADHD, social anxiety and mood disorder. Someone who has Parkinson’s disease lacks Dopamine. This question is best suited for the specialists. It takes years of education to have a good understand of how all these work together for proper functioning.
Avatar m tn I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
