I told my doctor the same thing, she said the tunnel vision, and jitters were normal, and would go away as your body gets used to the medication. However trouble eating and depression are more serious and might need to be taken care of. When I first started, I lost 15 pounds or more because of the effects of the medication, but regained my weight as we found a new medication. If tour doughter says she is depressed, watch her very closely untill you can find a doctor to talk about this.
I have been taking adderall for 6 years now. I read your post and I have experienced exactly the same effects. The only thing that stopped me from slowing down my mind was to up the dosage. However each time you up the dosage it seems to take about a year or so until my mind slows down again while on the medication. I've asked two different doctors about the long term effects of adderall but they both claim there is no information or known studies of prolonged adderall use.
Though maintaining well above average grades, before my senior year of high school I was prescribed a daily dose of Adderall Extended Release (XR) and Adderall Instant Release (IR). From an early age I was identified as gifted, but I sought the prescription because concentration was getting in the way of performance as classes became more involved and I felt as though I suffered certain social problems associated with ADHD.
Since Adderall is a stimulant drug, it can cause heart palpitations. It can also increase blood pressure and cause dizziness. If you are not eating enough, this could exacerbate dizziness and lightheadedness. Unfortunately, side effects to medications can appear at any time during the therapy. I would discuss these side effects with your doctor and if you decide that you cannot tolerate these effects, you may need to change your medication.
I agree with the idea of eating breakfast before taking it. I've been on Adderall for about a week now and have a hard time eating. So I started eating breakfast then taking it, helps alot. The other thing I went and bought were high protein boost shakes. Little pricey for a pack of 6 but definitely help when I can't get food down. Hope this helps.

My son who is 8 was taking concerta 36 mg but was having side effects such as sleep and eating problems, now we have him on Addreall xr and he is doing fantastic in school sleeping no problem but will not eat all day he dosen't even want breakfast in the morning, as a parent I know he needs the med for school but I am afraid of what no eating will do to his little body, is there any other drugs out there that has little or no symptoms, I feel at my witts end!
My Doctor is working with me and helping me in any way he can. I have ADHA and use to take Adderall daily. I asked my doc if I could get back on it while taking Suboxone and he said yes and perscribed it to me again. My question is if I should be taking these two meds together or not? I know my doc perscribed them to me but I can't help but question if it's ok. Does anyone have any takes on this? I am taking 8mg Sub 2x daily and 30mg Adderall 2x daily right now.

She had been on Adderall for ADHD, went into a hypermanic event and was involuntarily committed for treatment. After her release she went back to her original Psychiatrist who again prescribed Adderall for her. Is Adderall ever used for bipoplar disorder. Everything I have read says no. How can I convince her Dr. to not prescribe it anymore? Please help us.

I am gay, but have not been very active sexually and have always practiced safe sex. I had an hiv test about 3 yrs ago and was negative. I have a poor diet, sometimes eating nothing for two days, and really do not drink water, just diet soda. I suspect Adderall could be causing the problems. Any ideas?
re talking about. For a long time my drugs of choice were adderall and oxycontin, then adderall and heroin. I liked that they balanced eachother out and got super addicted to the combo of them. But yes, when I came off of them, I had severe depression. However, each day i stayed off of it got better. The thing is, I had to go to rehab or 12 step meetings for the support and teh community and so I was around other addicts who understood and so i made myself accountable to them.
Thank you for your response, it does feel good to know that others felt that way before and still do! Its like I want to be able to not use and still feel good so I feel like I m notfully ready to stop! I am scred that I will be lazy and feel crappy everyday! My father was an alcoholic and a drug user too. He passed from cirrhosis of the liver when I was 16.

I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy.
A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
it sounds like she has an eating disorder and takes adderall compulsively to keep her appetite away, and it also seems like she may be experiencing amphetamine-induced psychosis, which would explain the paranoia and disconnected thoughts which are unlikely characteristics of someone of her age who's made it to grad school.
Hello, I've actually had this problem for a while now and seems to be related to high doses of amphetamine and/or caffeine (I usually need both when cramming in pharmacy school). Your post caught my eye because my symptoms do not behave like normal GERD or Acid Reflux.
I have a hunch the nausea is from a combination of eating less due to appetite suppression and a dosage of adderall that is too high, since I let my tolerance build back up? My bowel changes started when I started the new 20 mg XR. My main curiosity is if it affects my digestion like that, is it giving my body time to absorb nutrients from food and supplements. I guess can take my supplements 1 hr before Adderall or at QHS, which is one solution.
