Acyclovir with no prescription

Common Questions and Answers about Acyclovir with no prescription

famvir

Avatar m tn Will this drug always require a prescription. It gets old going to a doctor every 90 days to new mine.
Avatar m tn ve only had oral outbreaks so far, i asked the doctor for acyclovir and he gave me a prescription for 800mg tablets and to take them 2x daily for a total dose of 1600mg everyday as supressive therapy. i'm concerned this is too high a dose? i thought it should be 400mg and take 2x daily for a total dose of 800mg? it was an ER doctor that gave it to me because i don't have health insurance and went to the county hospital.
Avatar n tn Most communities, be it your county health department or a good bunch of docs who provide their services at low-cost local clinic, offer payment based on a sliding scale. Planned Parenthood as well. There's no reason, even with being uninsured, to pay $300 for a regular private practice doc.
Avatar f tn s anxiety. He gave me a prescription for acyclovir and said that it was more a treatment for me than him, because it didn't bother my son, just me. I have the prescription with refills still sitting on my fridge, unfilled as of yet. I don't want to expose him to prescription meds if it's just not necessary, but I don't know what to do. We went another 3 1/2 weeks before this last one came up. It's number 7 since September.
Avatar m tn My guess would be because you get less active acyclovir in your body with plain ole acyclovir than you do valtrex but we have no studies to back this assumption.
Avatar f tn ve been taking it for 25 yrs with no issues. At some point I stopped having outbreaks, but I will continue to use acyclovir.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with HSV 2 in 2009. I have recently taken myself off of Acyclovir due to the cost without insurance. I have leg pain again, which I haven't had since my first outbreak. Does this leg pain subside/decrease over the years like the trend of outbreaks?
Avatar f tn if you have a doctor write you a prescription, you can get acyclovir at walmart for $4 a round. Very affordable!
Avatar m tn t currently have a doctor looking for one I am comfortable with if that makes sense, is there a way I can get a prescription from a clinic or a way to get the meds?
Avatar f tn I had sex with a new partner for the first time on February 5, 2012. Shortly thereafter I found by "chance" (in other words... I was snooping) a prescription for ACYCLOVIR in his name. This prompted me to request an HSV2 blood test although I had no visible symptoms, lesions, or blisters. I provided a blood sample on 3/2/12 and my blood test came back with the following result: HSV2 Ab, IgG 3.40 Positive Negative 1.
Avatar m tn You can get suppressive therapy with acyclovir from walmart ( and similar places ) for under $20/month even without insurance. You just need a prescription from your doctor. You can treat each ob as they occur for $4 at most places now too in the US with a prescription for acyclovir.
Avatar n tn Would you happen to know if it is okay to have acidic juices with ACYCLOVIR? She was told that they may interfere with their effectiveness......
Avatar f tn I have had genital herpes for 27 years and know a bit about it but not facially and also worry that her immunity may not be too good as she gets recurred herpes attacks and I know from experience this is more to do with immunity than it is about the virus itself. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I am CONVINCED that GSK has everything to do with a sudden shortage of acyclovir and the pressure on generic manufacturers to stop producing.... martha stewart should not have spent the time in jail compared to these corporate jerks who only take care of their shareholders and CEO's. remember yoga and meditation are also very helpful to reduce outbreaks.... dont feel trapped by this nonsense.
Avatar f tn Was discontinued. With next occurrence, I asked for another anti-viral and was prescribed Acyclovir. This one caused headaches, backache, confusion and fatigue. Was stopped. I am now having a recurrence and didn't take anything. After about 7 days, I felt it was almost over, then wham....came back with a new leison and flu-like symptoms. Tried Acyclovir before bed last night, was up most of night with headache. I haven't taken anything today. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn While on vacation last week, I was packing up our hotel room and I accidentally found a prescription for 20 Cialis in his bag with a fill date of June 2009 from an online pharmacy. Perplexed and panicked,I then searched his bag and found a prescription for Zovirax with a fill date of June 2009 for 90 pills from a DIFFERENT online pharmacy. Instructions were take 1 a day to suppress and 3 a day for outbreaks. There were 15 pills missing from the bottle.
Avatar f tn m having a hard time reaching my doctor back home to renew this prescription (there are no refills left on this one.) I did take the first dose of Valtrex, thinking I had 12 hours to reach my dr and have the rx called in, however I haven't been able to reach him. I just found out that a family member has Acyclovir. My question is, can I take Acyclovir for the second dose, 12 hours after taking the first dose of Valtrex?
Avatar m tn cold sores are hsv1 orally the vast majority of the time. Treating it 7 days after it appeared with acyclovir was actually a waste of money - it was already almost all healed. If your provider didn't give you refills on your acyclovir for future cold sores, give the clinic a call and ask for a prescription to have on hand. in the future, anytime you feel a cold sore about to start, that's the time to start the cold sore doses of acyclovir.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been taking acyclovir 400mg tablets 2x daily for 2 years now and along with several lifestyle changes (which includes almost no alcohol and good sleeping pattern) I have had pretty much success in suppressing my yearly OBs from 6-8 outbreaks a year to none noticeable outbreaks at all.
Avatar n tn Give your regular doctor a call and ask them to prescribe daily suppressive therapy for you. If you don't have insurance, acyclovir will be the cheaper option for you. If you've been previously diagnosed as having genital herpes, no reason to have to go in with a recurrence and "prove" you have it - that's bogus. You can also call the clinic you've recently been going to and ask to talk to the clinic manager and make a complaint.
Avatar n tn Occasionally I will have a red bump or mark, but it does not appear to look exactly like the first outbreak that I experienced. Also there is no itching with these bumps or marks. I think that most of them are just from friction or something else, but would like to know how to tell the difference to help prevent spreading the disease. If anyone know a website or video that properly explains how to identify a herpes outbreak I would appreciate it.
Avatar n tn Ask your provider for a prescription for oral acyclovir, famvir or valtrex in the cold sore doses and use an otc pain relief topical instead if the cold sore hurts. Even cheaper yet, hold an ice cube to the cold sore !
Avatar f tn I havent experienced any side effects whatsoever with acyclovir so its been great. No outbreaks either. The hardest part for me is managing my stress level and not letting myself get too run-down. If you dont keep yourself otherwise healthy (eat right, exercise, seriously!) then youre more likely to get outbreaks. Hopefully this will help!
Avatar f tn I just received a prescription for daily suppressive Acyclovir that I began taking today. My outbreaks are minimal, so the primary purpose for the medication is to reduce the risk of transmission. I have read in various places that Valtrex is the only suppressive medication that has been proven in clinical trials to reduce transmission. I am under the impression, however, that this is simply because Valtrex is the only drug that has been tested for reduction in transmission.
Avatar m tn and see if her doctor will up the times per day and give her a new prescription. She only had a prescription for 90 pills and has taken about five of them.
