Avatar f tn I have very not understandable situation. I am mail. I ve had relationship with a girl for 6 months. We had protected sex all time. But few times condom creeped for few minutes. After six months I started new relationship with new girl. I still have relationships with she. And I had unprotected sex. In few days I felt burning on my public area and head of penis. I went to clinic and passed all std analyses. Everything came negative. I was happy and forgot. But burning continued.
Avatar n tn My initial outbreak was just one painful blister that quickly disappeared with a course of Acyclovir for 5 days. Since then I had some more outbreaks near the top of my penis, which to be honest weren't really that bad and I managed to get rid of them quite fast with Acyclovir. Since I had outbreaks quite often, I was prescribed suppressive treatment of two 200mg Acyclovir tablets per day. Most articles online state that outbreaks typically get less significant and frequent over time.
Avatar f tn I was tested positive for HSV2 back in May, I would say my first outbreak was 6 months before that but was told by my doctor it was an ingrown hair (outbreak was on bikini line) It then spread to my labia (this was the sore that I got a positive test from) I made the decision that I wanted to do the suppressive therapy taking acyclovir twice daily, this helped the outbreaks but the symptoms hadn’t gone at all, I was then told to take acyclovir three times a day..
Avatar m tn After I finished my first dose of Acyclovir I went to speak with my primary Dr about being put on a daily suppressive thearpy. He prescribed me Acyclovir again, but dosed at 800mg taken twice daily. I felt that this may have been too high and had been taking it only once a day since everything I had read on Acyclovir supression was informing me that 400mg twice a day was sufficient for daily supressive thearpy.
Avatar f tn t mean to sound as loco as I do, but, if it were, would the acyclovir have taken care of the symptoms by now? Would alcohol interfere (I did have quite a few beers last evening)? If it isn't, what are the other possibilities? Trichomoniasis? I'm in the dark.
Avatar n tn Please, I have developed weird lesions and bumps that started 8 hours after starting acyclovir and now continues to occur even after 2 months after stopping it. Few Lesions (pimple like with red base) come and go everywhere in my body (cheeks, forehead, ear pinna, eyelids, chest, arm, forearm...). I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October and am suffering a couple of lesions coming up and clearing in few days every now and then.
Avatar f tn Does applying rubbing alcohol to a upcoming/open sore on the penis shaft help heal the outbreak faster?
Avatar m tn Also on top of that, rubbing acyclovir cream on the whole area.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been taking acyclovir 400mg tablets 2x daily for 2 years now and along with several lifestyle changes (which includes almost no alcohol and good sleeping pattern) I have had pretty much success in suppressing my yearly OBs from 6-8 outbreaks a year to none noticeable outbreaks at all.
Avatar f tn Will taking vitamin C on a daily basis along with the acyclovir help? Has anyone else taken this?..Problems? Concerns? Complications? Benefits? I wanna know if anything I am doing is right and if not what to do. My doctor also told me that he really felt like I should have a pap smear and be tested for HIV he said that it is common to come together herpes and HIV. That scares me. If I have HIV I am just gonna jump off a cliff.
Avatar m tn I went to a new doc and today she said I need to go on suppressive therapy with acyclovir 800mg 1x/day. She said this is the new standard protocol (or something to that effect). I'm seeing where it says acyclovir 400mg 2x/day. My questions are: 1. has anyone heard of 800mg 1x/day is the standard? 2. anyone know the benefits of 800mg 1x/day vs 400mg 2x/day (besides having to take less pills, which is nice) 3.
Avatar f tn L-lysine is VERY effective, I've been using it for years. You need more l-lysine with Vit C, like 3000-4000 mg every 3 or 4 hours on a full stomach. (If you're having an outbreak or about to have one) if you're just trying to suppress it take about 1000 mg per day. & then after a month or two, you can give your body a break for a few days or a week. Also you can't take it with milk or it's ineffective.
Avatar m tn i started taking acyclovir a few days ago for the first time for a mild cold sore breakout. 2 days after i started, the cold sores got more intense, and 2 new huge cold sores came up out of nowhere. i have 3 more days left of the medication, and i'm going to keep taking it, but what should i do? these cold sores are not going away, and it seems like its getting worse! so done with these friggin things...
1302779 tn?1287405029 the doses you take for recurrences do tend to give the headaches :( do you take advil or anything along with the acyclovir knowing that it's likely to cause you to get a headache?
Avatar m tn Does Acyclovir make anyone else feel completely terrible? I get terrible headaches, dizzy, diarrhea and feel just awful. im not sure which is worse sometimes.
Avatar f tn their provider needs to better educate himself on acyclovir. we start children on oral acyclovir suppressively from month of age upward as needed. no need for any labs or anything either from it. the arginine/lysine theory never panned out outside of the lab actually. They are even using arginine to treat herpes in research now. Children drink a lot of milk which balances it out anyways. at this point I'd seek out the advice of a pediatric dermatologist for your son.
Avatar f tn I would dissolve a tylenol in alcohol and make a paste to put on at night (not pretty) but I swear it helps with the swelling it hurts when you put it on but it helps afterwards with the pain ans throbbing I would have and during the day I use abreva on it. If I start this the first day I get one within 3 days its down and scabed over.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I have had Bell's Palsy and took prednisone for 5 days and a week later started acyclovir but I've been having blindness, extremely blurry, gray vision in my affected eye and can't widen that eye pupil or shut it. I think the eye muscle may be paralyzed too and I can't speak or remember well.
Avatar n tn The doc prescribed Acyclovir and Bactrum but didnt tell me that this was a form of herpes. So, 3 weeks ago I noticed the same tiny little itchy bumps on my hand - near the same spot on the same finger and when the bumps turned into huge blisters I started thinking....okay, this looks exactly like what I had last year!!! So, when things got bad I went to the hospital again, this time to find out what I have is herpetic whitlow.
