Avatar n tn I would encourage your provider and you to seek out other reasons for your slight hypertension, and also appropriate medication and/or exercise and weight loss (if appropriate). If you have no kidney disease, you need no dose adjustment.
Avatar m tn I'm male, 29y. My urine has recently (for about a week) became of a darker tone of yellow than usual, a bit brownish I'd say. I tried drinking a lot of water for a couple of days and it cleared up, but after I returned to my usual intake my pee got dark again. I searched the other symptoms for kidney issues (pain when urinating, getting tired, losing weight) and I don't have any of those.
Avatar f tn Further, your stress-related weight loss woul not effect your ability to develop anitbodies--Please believe your test results.

Avatar n tn Also are side effects such as hair loss only a concern for long term suppressive therapy? Acyclovir seems to help but it seems like it would depress me even more if I lost hair or went bald because of it. One last question, does acyclovir cause concern in raising blood pressure.

1549204 tn?1353361673 Hi Grace, I'm doing okay. Just still going through this skin condition on my bottom and I've been going through so many different creams from the doctor. But I'm here to ask about hair loss and taking acyclovir. Because of my medical insurance, I don't believe I'm able to switch medications, but because this is becoming more of a medical concern by losing hair, would my medical possibly cover another herpes medication?
Avatar f tn Have been on acyclovir for a couple of years and my hair has gotten extremely thin on the sides and top. So depressing as this works for suppression. now I read that this seems to be more common aide effect than manufacture is aware of. Have read that valtrex also has the same side effect. how about Famvir? This is soo depressing and is the hair loss permanent?
Avatar f tn I stopped taking acyclovir in December 2011. I have had numerous outbreaks like once a month or every couple of months. I have had HSV2 four years and four months now. My last outbreak was maybe eight weeks ago. Shouldn't my outbreaks decrease since I have had the virus for some time.I would like to know is that too many outbreaks to be experiencing.
Avatar m tn i started taking acyclovir a few days ago for the first time for a mild cold sore breakout. 2 days after i started, the cold sores got more intense, and 2 new huge cold sores came up out of nowhere. i have 3 more days left of the medication, and i'm going to keep taking it, but what should i do? these cold sores are not going away, and it seems like its getting worse! so done with these friggin things...
Avatar m tn Like most I cannot afford Valtrex any more. I have switched to Acyclovir. I've used it effectively for the couple of outbreaks but it seems to be taking considerably longer. I am taking L-Lysene as a suppressor and only take the Acyclovir at the first sign of an outbreak. I was taking 1000mg Valtrex at onset and then 500mg twice a day and everything was clear in 3 days. To get the same effectiveness from Acyclovir how much should I be taking daily during out breaks?
1302779 tn?1287405029 the doses you take for recurrences do tend to give the headaches :( do you take advil or anything along with the acyclovir knowing that it's likely to cause you to get a headache?
Avatar m tn Does Acyclovir make anyone else feel completely terrible? I get terrible headaches, dizzy, diarrhea and feel just awful. im not sure which is worse sometimes.
Avatar m tn fast weight loss is most of the time lost water and muscles. Fat takes ages to go away. Third: Think of a diet as something permanent. Crash diets just help you gain weight faster once they are over. So, pick some simple rules of a balanced and healthy diet, and follow them. Don't sweat it if you crave for something "bad", to a balanced diet belongs the bad side, too. If you give in now to a small piece of chocolate, it is much better than to eat two whole packages later.
Avatar f tn Yes please talk to your dr, there are many things that could cause rapid or excessive weight loss and some of them can be serious. In addition to Thyroid and GI testing maybe ask about diabetes. It seems odd, but it can cause weight loss.
