For about 2 years now I have had irritated red flakey skin inside my left nostrill only. About 3 weeks ago I noticed a hard lump on the corona. A week later a tiny hole (like a needle hole) appeared behind the lump behind the glans. It was draining clear fluid. A few days later the hole ulcerated and got deeper and wider. So far all tests have come back negative. Syphillis was negative but was treated anyway. Bacterial and herpes culture were negative. This bump has not hurt or itched.( I think when it does it is my anxiety) My question is does this sound like herpes. I have been tested in the past and have been negative for HSV 2. Now my exposure.
After one week I saw on my head of penis red irregulary shaped red spot. Big. Maybe on 1/3 of all penis head. In one week there appears yellow liquid. And red rush on all penis shaft. First it stats by itching then when I scratch about 2 sores appear then as time goes on they become 3 then 4, when they burst a clear liquid comes out and little blood. there are no other symptoms and I have taken blood tests for STI's and they came out negative but still im having those sores that disappear every time after treatment and after a few week they reappear. There are no penile discharge. What exaclty may be the cauz of these?
I stopped taking acyclovir in December 2011. I have had numerous outbreaks like once a month or every couple of months. I have had HSV2 four years and four months now. My last outbreak was maybe eight weeks ago. Shouldn't my outbreaks decrease since I have had the virus for some time.I would like to know is that too many outbreaks to be experiencing.
i started taking acyclovir a few days ago for the first time for a mild cold sore breakout. 2 days after i started, the cold sores got more intense, and 2 new huge cold sores came up out of nowhere. i have 3 more days left of the medication, and i'm going to keep taking it, but what should i do? these cold sores are not going away, and it seems like its getting worse! so done with these friggin things...
Like most I cannot afford Valtrex any more. I have switched to Acyclovir. I've used it effectively for the couple of outbreaks but it seems to be taking considerably longer. I am taking L-Lysene as a suppressor and only take the Acyclovir at the first sign of an outbreak. I was taking 1000mg Valtrex at onset and then 500mg twice a day and everything was clear in 3 days. To get the same effectiveness from Acyclovir how much should I be taking daily during out breaks?
Does Acyclovir make anyone else feel completely terrible? I get terrible headaches, dizzy, diarrhea and feel just awful. im not sure which is worse sometimes.
Ive had pretty trademark symptoms of herpes constantly for about 7 months. Seemingly liquid filled bumps on red bases/rash on the penis and lower spine/left buttock pain on days before they arise. They never burst, however, and are rarely painful. But acyclovir seems to work to reduce the rashes faster. I was tested twice for igg and igm at 6 months post exposure and again around 7. Both were negative. The partner i would have received it from also tested negative with the same test.
In 2018, I was bitten severely by unidentified bugs. A day later I went to the bathroom but when I rubbed skin with sponge my skin got swollen as if bitten by multiple bugs. t last. It does clear up as the outbreak dissipates. Would suggest you add liquid Ly-sine to your regime for herpes meds to keep outbreaks at bay. This with your valtrex/acyclovir does a fairly good job in controlling outbreaks. However, there is no forgiveness if you forget your regime! Much like the implant is with you for life, so is your susceptibility elevation. Suggest you keep a weather eye on your health!

Acyclovir is always 2x/day for suppressive therapy. You can not take acyclovir just 800mg 1x/day. It's not effective that way. Call your provider up and question that dose. If they say that that dose works too -ask them to please cite the research that backs that. I guarantee you they can't provide any that shows that 800mg once a day is effective for acyclovir!!
do you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally? How about orally - which one?
Greatly simplified - you swallow valtrex and your body converts it into acyclovir inside the body. You get more active acyclovir available to kick a little herpes butt by doing it this way. That's why you take valtrex less often. We don't have studies to confirm that acyclovir reduces transmission the same amount as valtrex does but we assume it does.
