I had viral meningitis in December 05, and was in hospital for 2 weeks the condition was confirmed by the neurologitst having a lumbar puncture. I was so ill I thought I would die, I could not move of the bed the pain in my head was explosive and my eyes hurt so bad. It took me three months to get over this, and until september 05 until I was one hundred percent again.
I had suffered fever for 13days and was only diagnosed with Viral Menigitis on the 15days after a lumbar tap. I was given an IVof NS and acyclovir(prophylaxis accdg to my doctor) for 3 days every 8 hours. My fever subsided and totally gone, and headache started. Tylenol ES was not effective with this headache and I was prescribed with Hydromorph 3mgSR every 12 hours and then 1 mg breakthrough every 6hours. It helps me for a week.
Can the herpes simplex cause the viral meningitis even if she does not have the genital herpes? She was tested negative for the virus a couple months ago.
She was quite sick and had to be given morphine, anit-viral and steroids.
Could i still be sexually active even though I just ended having viral meningitis? if not, for how long and what am i limited to, in other words, can i kiss a girl, oral sex, etc.?
m a healthy 24 year old female who has been suffering from this since Spring 2007 (came down with meningitis 3x in 3 months - acyclovir and Valtrex treatments did not work and resulted in renal failure). All 3 times, my spinal tap came back positive for HSV II.
I am currently (and have been since August 2007) taking 500mg of Famciclovir per day. For the first year, I took 500mg 3x per day. The second year I reduced it to 500mg 2x per day because it was really hard on my body.

ve ruled that out and she actually has viral meningitis. We live in a very rural region where mold is common, and have been concerned about the possibility of fungal meningitis as well, though the hospital said they checked for this and it wasn't the case.
I'm wondering, how severe can viral meningitis be? My aunt's mind is currently completely gone. She no longer remembers people, or even any new information for more than a second.

Meningitis can be caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, and even as a consequence of certain medications. Bacterial meningitis and certain viral diseases can be deadly, even in people with strong immune systems but in other cases meningitis is a mild disease and may even go unnoticed and does not need any specific treatment.
Runny nose and cough can also be apart of allergy.You could just treat it with OTC anti-histamines.

My boyfriend was in the hospital with viral meningitis in the beginning of February for 3-4 days then home off work for a week.
