Common Questions and Answers about Acyclovir cost without insurance

famvir

Avatar m tn You can get suppressive therapy with acyclovir from walmart ( and similar places ) for under $20/month even without insurance. You just need a prescription from your doctor. You can treat each ob as they occur for $4 at most places now too in the US with a prescription for acyclovir.
Avatar f tn As far as cost - without insurance, in the US, you can get acyclovir under $20/month at walmart. INsurance makes it really cheap - especially if you get 3 months at a time supply.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with HSV 2 in 2009. I have recently taken myself off of Acyclovir due to the cost without insurance. I have leg pain again, which I haven't had since my first outbreak. Does this leg pain subside/decrease over the years like the trend of outbreaks?
Avatar m tn t be a money issue for most folks if they have decent prescription coverage with their insurance. Acyclovir is still way cheaper but if you have insurance coverage that makes generics low cost, valtrex is, as of this month, going to be WAY cheaper for you now :) the technicality to the answer to your question is this - only valtrex has been studied for reduction in transmission to a partner.
Avatar m tn ve only had oral outbreaks so far, i asked the doctor for acyclovir and he gave me a prescription for 800mg tablets and to take them 2x daily for a total dose of 1600mg everyday as supressive therapy. i'm concerned this is too high a dose? i thought it should be 400mg and take 2x daily for a total dose of 800mg? it was an ER doctor that gave it to me because i don't have health insurance and went to the county hospital.
Avatar m tn , recently I was prescribed valcyclovir and pred forte drops. I am in the donut hole on my insurance and the cost is prohibitive. Is acyclovir 800 as effective as valcyclovir hcl or as costly?
Avatar f tn The total out-of-pocket wihout insurance would be $2400 a year. With insurance it would be $1900 a year. So now the total cost of medical care with United catastrophic insurance is $6300 and uninsured out-of-pocket cost is $3600. The costs of outpatient procedures and other things are generally comparable to that and I'm not going to bother doing the math on them as I'm not familiar with the costs there.
Avatar n tn Is there a reliable (online) store in US where i can buy acyclovir without any prescription. Can you suggest some stores please?
Avatar f tn Hey guys....my birthday is on the 10th of this month and I will be 21. So next year I will be 22 and I'm still in college and of course I'm diabetic. My parents insurance over cover me until I'm 22. What's a good insurance for diabetics and how much will it cost because I can't go not being uninsured. I can barely keep up with what my insulin and strips cost now WITH insurance.
Avatar n tn Acyclovir costs about US $17 at Costco for a 3-month supply. Other pharmacies like Walgreen's also sell it really cheap. Use that instead. The only difference is you take it 2x a day instead of once daily. It works the same.
Avatar f tn Since my infection has remained only on the left side of my vagina, and since my body is behaving resistant to the acyclovir, or rather since the symptoms are still intense after a few days, the doctor is now suspecting Shingles. It does make more sense. I did not realize this was rare - (in the vaginal area) What I want to know is you listed symptoms for the herpes but not for the shingles. Can you describe more? It's more than itching for sure.
Avatar f tn I am pregnant with my first child and I had the same question about how much it would cost. I have insurance but mines was able to give me an estimate of how much a vaginal birth and c - section would cost out of pocket. Vaginal birth was about $5,000-$6,000 and C - section was about $8,000-$9,000. I am assuming this varies depending on labor. Hope this helps some.
Avatar m tn you can get generic acyclovir for under $20/month even without insurance in the US. valtrex is just more convenient since you only have to take it once a day.
Avatar f tn I would be very surprised if I risked ever telling anyone again as it took me 52 yrs to get this close (lol) to anyone... I have no health insurance so the cost of Valtrex alone prohibits me from doing further blood test and it's a moot point at this time since I do not plan on ever be emotionally or sexually intimate with another person again I was told I had 1&2 but not where. Assuming 1on lips & 2 on buttocks.
Avatar n tn umm in the usa without insurance, n im chronic.
Avatar n tn Like any health treatment, it can be quite costly without insurance. If you are in the states, I would recommend going to Planned Parenthood. They will charge you on a sliding scale fee or for free and make things very affordable.
Avatar f tn can someone walk me through the process of getting health insurance? I don't currently have any, and I'm already seeing how expensive this pregnancy will be without it. I had my first visit yesterday and it's cost $240 out of pocket. I'm 18 on August 28th, any advice?
Avatar n tn 500 mg of Valtrex once daily should cost about $150 per month without insurance, but if he is able to remember to take medication twice daily, then acyclovir 400 mg twice a day should be fine also. Valtrex is my preference simply because it is easier to remember to take something once a day than twice a day so people comply better, but that's very individual. I'm glad he's doing better and it sounds like the two of you are doing better as a couple, yes?
Avatar f tn I am just wondering if that how much you really gotta pay with or without insurance just for a freaking check up. I mean they just ask MW how I'm doing check my blood pressure check my baby's heartbeat and that's it. Oh they check if I still have the bacterial vaginosis and if I still have any other infections by peeing and a swab. Seriously? Just for all that. I mean I ain't paying anything but its still my insurance. Or their a rip off?!?!
Avatar f tn I want to know is there anyone that knows of a reputable site online where I can buy antivirals without a prescription? I do not have any insurance. If there is anyone that has had good experiences with one, please let me know. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 200 mg of Acyclovir a day for almost 20 years to suppress the herpes virus. Occasionally I have to take more for outbreaks. I have been told that my dosage is unusually low and for the pharmacy my dosage reads 400 mg a day. Otherwise some of the supplemental insurance plans with the pharmacy will not pick it up. I do not have regular insurance. My question is about the fact that my new doctor has told me I must take liver enzyme tests to continue the use of this prescription.
Avatar f tn He said he has been tested, and that the results were negative for both types, but I don't think he was properly tested. I just don't understand how he could be negative but I didn't get this til after he performed oral sex on me and 4 days later I got the blisters. I'm on my parents insurance and don't want my testing to show up on it. How much does it cost? I've been taking acyclovir, will that mess up my test results?
629668 tn?1222914854 My insurance only covers the office visits and the meds but does not cover the IVF cost. It cost us about 8000 for the procedure.
Avatar m tn famvir is 250mg 2x/day. if your insurance doesn't make it cheap, switch to acyclovir. if you are going to take a pill 2x/day for your herpes, might as well take the most affordable ( usually acyclovir is under $20/month for suppressive therapy even without insurance ). no there are not serious side effects. have you ever read the herpes handbook? if not, google it - it comes right up and it's free!
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.
