Anyone ever travled to Mexico for HSV-2 Suppressive Therapy Medication? I've been thinking about going to one of the border towns to buy some medication specifically Acyclovir. I'm working full time and am covered through my insurance for prescription meds and Dr's visits, but later on in the future will need to cut my full time job to possibly part time or less as I will be starting nursing school and willl not have the time to work as much with my time for school.
I want to know is there anyone that knows of a reputable site online where I can buy antivirals without a prescription? I do not have any insurance. If there is anyone that has had good experiences with one, please let me know. Thanks.
give the doc a call and ask for a prescription for herpes antivirals to keep on hand for future cold sores. she can use either 1 day famvir, 1 day valtrex or 2 day acyclovir to treat cold sores. acyclovir is the cheapest option - 800mg 3x/day for 2 days.
I stopped taking acyclovir in December 2011. I have had numerous outbreaks like once a month or every couple of months. I have had HSV2 four years and four months now. My last outbreak was maybe eight weeks ago. Shouldn't my outbreaks decrease since I have had the virus for some time.I would like to know is that too many outbreaks to be experiencing.
i started taking acyclovir a few days ago for the first time for a mild cold sore breakout. 2 days after i started, the cold sores got more intense, and 2 new huge cold sores came up out of nowhere. i have 3 more days left of the medication, and i'm going to keep taking it, but what should i do? these cold sores are not going away, and it seems like its getting worse! so done with these friggin things...
Like most I cannot afford Valtrex any more. I have switched to Acyclovir. I've used it effectively for the couple of outbreaks but it seems to be taking considerably longer. I am taking L-Lysene as a suppressor and only take the Acyclovir at the first sign of an outbreak. I was taking 1000mg Valtrex at onset and then 500mg twice a day and everything was clear in 3 days. To get the same effectiveness from Acyclovir how much should I be taking daily during out breaks?
Does Acyclovir make anyone else feel completely terrible? I get terrible headaches, dizzy, diarrhea and feel just awful. im not sure which is worse sometimes.
I saw an STD specialist who said it was HSV, ordered blood+swab tests for HSV and other STDs, had me buy 800mg Acyclovir pills, and treated me with antibiotics for bacterial STDs.
I took the pills for 3 days and the bumps went away. The STD testing was all negative. Reading up, I found out that the HSV blood testing was too early, swab testing is hit/miss, my risk of other STS besides HSV or Syphilis was non-existent.
I also get my outbreaks in my thumb and not my genital area, I have it right now and Its very painful...other then valtrex...Is there anything I can do to clear it up..???
My throat blisters were confirmed HSV2. It's been exactly one week and my throat and lymph nodes are still very sore. Now I'm trying to control the spread between my legs. I'm taking L-lysine and Acyclovir. Is anything more effective in containing the initial outbreak? I'm in so much pain and discomfort.

Hey, does anyone know if theres anything to buy over the counter that will speed up healing process/sort out the immense pain/ and help with peeing with herpes? Ive tried a few things, tea tree and olbas oil seems to get rid of them when i feel im getting a tingling sensation but once there fully there i find it really difficult to get them to leave. I wouldnt mind going to my doctors but i get them so regularly i would be there every other month!
The side effects are too severe to continue on Valtrex. Dr. said to try acyclovir, but research shows it has the same ingredients only in lower milligram strength. Has anyone, who couldn't tolerate Valtrex, have success with acyclovir?
Acyclovir is always 2x/day for suppressive therapy. You can not take acyclovir just 800mg 1x/day. It's not effective that way. Call your provider up and question that dose. If they say that that dose works too -ask them to please cite the research that backs that. I guarantee you they can't provide any that shows that 800mg once a day is effective for acyclovir!!
do you have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally? How about orally - which one?
Greatly simplified - you swallow valtrex and your body converts it into acyclovir inside the body. You get more active acyclovir available to kick a little herpes butt by doing it this way. That's why you take valtrex less often. We don't have studies to confirm that acyclovir reduces transmission the same amount as valtrex does but we assume it does.

I don't believe its too early. I believe you should buy small things if your having a baby shower, you don't want to buy something someone brought as a gift. but as long as you have the gender confirmed .. i believe you could began buying things.

acyclovir is 400mg 2x/day every single day. she will still get recurrences while on daily suppressive therapy regardless of if she's on acyclovir or valtrex, you just take acyclovir more often than you do valtrex.
